(I think this was before the PS3 anyway, what it had competing against was the PS2 and Gamecube)

Fable II's online co-op is only possible on Xbox LIVE (Eh, I suppose)

"Myst III Exile" makes its debut for Xbox with previously unseen levels of detail and the freedom only possible on Xbox. (I don't even know what Myst III is, but I assume that, again, it was either on the original Xbox or 360 without any real technical competition)

And, all of this is only possible on Xbox. Set in a world ripped apart by deceit, the heroes of Sudeki journey down a twisting path of betrayal. (Again, either on original Xbox or when the 360 had no real competition)

They both like saying these things a lot, because it makes them look superior.

I'm not going to argue that companies piss over each other all the time, obviously they do. But even "It mimicks how eyes adjust to sunlight [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/97275-Sony-Explains-Poorly-Why-Only-PS3-Can-Do-God-of-War-III] is (technically) an excuse. If you find more recent examples then I'll happily eat my words, but usually when companies say "Only possible on [blah de blahh]" it usually has some merit (even if it is a teeny tiny one).

I have a rule of 5. When there are 5 exclusive games I really want for a console, I buy the console. I'm guessing Last Guardian will be #5.

Y'see i'd agree with your point, With one exception.

I dont want a PS3, Ive played one, I dont like the controller, Etc. Sure im probably a mini 360 Fanboy, but i gave the PS3 a chance, And sure, if i got one, I would probably play it a lot more than if i ever invested in what i consider to be the glorified paperweight that is the Wii.

But then again, Im not spending a couple hundred pounds to play MAG, the only game i'd consider getting if i was to get the PS2.

So the exception (to clarify):

Well, yeah, that's a general rule of thumb (or whatever rule of common sense there is). You're not going to buy a truck or a Hummer if you don't have any use for the huge amount of space it provides for outdorsy people.

You may not like the PS3, that's fine, but it's still a pitiful excuse to make an exclusive go to your console. I don't care much for the 360, but I don't complain that Mass Effect or L4D2 isn't on the PS3. I have a few options;

1. Save up for a 360
2. Upgrade my crap-tastic PC
3. Forget about it and go on with my life.

If Mass Effect or L4D2 go to the PS3 in the future, that's great for me. But until then, I can't complain that the 360 has an exclusive that I want for free (that's generally what it boils down to really).

Upgrade the PC. I have played L4D and L4D2 on 360 and trust me the PC version is MUCH better

Halo Reach definately. I have a PS3 and a Wii, so there are not to many exclusives that make me Rage.

The games that make me want to buy a Playstation 3 are Infamous, Uncharted 1 and 2, Little Big Planet 1 and 2, Ratchet and Clank, Metal Gear Solid 4, Heavy Rain, Gran Turismo 5, Killzone 3, Twisted Metal, and I think that covers it for now. Unfortunately, seeing as how I live in Costa Rica, a PS3 with 1 controller and no games cost over 500 dollars. BROOKLYN RAAAAAAGE!

There aren't awfully many games like that this gen and not really last gen either with pretty much everything good on consoles being on PS2. Right now it's more lack of genuinely good games for me though.

But I suppose I'd like to play Lost Odyssey and the new Metroid. Also, Twilight Princess (although a GC version apparently exists, it seems about as rare as a working copy of Link to the Past).

Infamous, Metal gear solid rising. I only have a XBOX360.

Seriously, probation for this? Can't the mods justify their existence by rooting out actual trouble makers like trolls and flamers instead of picking on harmless (and often funny) but easier to spot low-content posters?

Oh trust me, I would love to upgrade my PC, I really would. But I have several problems;

1. I have no fucking clue how to shop for PC parts assuming I'm taking the "build your own PC" route (which would be the best)
2. If I did go that route, I have no idea which parts are better than other parts and what would be good in my price range, or what parts are compatible with what, or where to get good deals, or how to even assemble the damn computer.
3. My dad is being a bit stubborn with getting a new PC, let alone building one from scratch (and he's an electric engineer of sorts, so I find that depressingly ironic for me).

It's really frustrating because I really want to upgrade but as many non-PC gamers know, PC gaming is a wee bit difficult [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Understatement]. I look everywhere for help, though being the lazy-ass bastard I am I give up halfway through.

Luckily the DS is cheap and i can probably get a slim 360 in the not too distant future
I admit, i died a little inside when splinter cell switched to a 360 exclusive, i've played almost all the previous games on my sony consoles so its a bit annoying for them to switch over

I've argued against this so many times, and in all honesty, it's a pitiful excuse to not just get the damn console to play the exclusive you want so badly.

I especially see this with PS3 exclusives sadly. You have no idea how many times I've seen people go "Ohmigod! The PS3 has no good games!" or some variation thereof, and then proceed to go "Ohmigod! I so wish InFamous/Ratchet and Clank/Resistance/Heavy Rain/MAG/Uncharted/Gran Turismo/Metal Gear Solid 4/The Last Guardian/etc... will come to 360/PC!!!"

It's a little concept called saving up. You learn that very early in your life that if you want something bad enough, and it costs money, you save up your damn money. You don't whine to the company to make it exclusively for you. Hell, the Ps3 isn't even that expensive anymore for Christ's sake, and I got one at the original $600 so you have no place to complain!

I hate to be "that guy", but really, I've seen this stupid argument so many times that it's just getting annoying (especially for the Sony Fanboy within me.....he wants blood!)
Exclusives are a part of the video game industry, deal with it. Either save up the money to get the console/parts to upgrade your PC or just forget about it.
