Pretty much all JRPGs take a serious beating on this forum, but...

Back before Squaresoft was SquareEnix they put out this 36 hour (ish) JRPG on PS1 called Breath of Fire III. It flowed really naturally and actually had some pretty funny parts. The only real problem with it was you could level up too fast in the lower level areas, so beating the end boss was kind of a joke.

It's got to be Quake 4 for me. Pretty much everyone hates it, but I see it as a homage to what shooters used to be. Very simple plot, dumb enemies, simplistic shooting mechanics. It's basically Quake II with new levels and better graphics.

And I love it for that.

Quake 4 was good... although worst kept plot twist ever, and the doom 3 engine cannot look different (see prey for more of the same walls and floors)

To be honest, the only game i loved that my friends call either average or shit is FF7, and that has enough fanboys that i really don't need to bring it up.

So, let's go ahead and say Robotrek for the SNES, just to really hit on the obscure.

Now, i choose to take arguement with your statement, sir, since BoF 3 was FUQIN AWZUM, and only third-rate douchebags who drink Halo and piss Gears of War would even dare to call it bad. As such, their opinions don't matter, and i consider no one to of called it bad, ever, in history.

Halo, that's a given with me.

Otherwise again I have to go Otogi.
Actually Otogi was review quite well.

But anyway for me it would be Tenchu Z, god that was a fun game.

Monster Hunter. There is no possible way to fairly review that game unless you played it for over 100 hours, which nobody does. That franchise is awesome.

Several, undoubtedly, but the one I've seen most recently is Quest 64.
I loved quest 64 I thought it was an amazing game but it gets a lot of trash. I like the Pokemon series and am not afraid to be persecuted by my peers for it.
Oh yes, Pokemon always brings back the good old days. Those weeks when I go back to it and finish playing only to find out I've just lost a good week of my life to it.

Why are you talking about the Breath of Fire franchise as though no one will have heard about it? Also you should check out Brath of Fire 4 also for the Playstation 1, but avoid Brath of Fire: Dragon Quarter because... well we dont talk about that one.

Generals was good.. just didn't feel like C&C... for example the methods of building, not one was the same as the rest of the series.

i thought of another one... Farenheit / Indigo Prophecy
You kidding? Everyone loved Indigo Prophecy. I know I did. So what if it's one long Quick Time Event, it's executed in a way that it's fun and, until the last third, the story was good.

I don't think Psychonauts counts because everyone on the internet thinks it's the best thing ever, but it had awful sales. Still, it's the only thing I can come up with from the top of my head.

Fable. Everyone said it was shit because Moleneaux said it was going to have all this stuff that it didn't but I never got into the hype so I didn't have any expectations at all when I played it.

Most of my more obscure games are just underrated, but they received praise, just not much. I would have to say though the two top games that were generally disliked but I loved are Postal 2 and Soldier of Fortune 2. Postal 2 is hands down one of the funniest, over the top, arcadey and enjoyable games I've ever played. Yeah it's not for everyone, but putting a cat on your M4 for a silencer and opening up on a crowd of screaming civilians never gets old. Chuck Heston is my President. Soldier of Fortune 2, while glitchy, is one of the best FPS games I've ever played. It gets the balance between arcadey shoot em up and tactical shooter perfect, especially with weapon inaccuracy on and soldier of fortune difficulty level. It takes skill to get your shots where you want them, but it doesn't go over the top on realism, and you can customize your carrying capacity, number of saves, etc... My only gripe is that it doesn't have iron sites aiming. The ghoul system also helps out quite a bit. Being able to get that impossible head shot, then being able to go up to the guy and see it entering through his jaw and leaving a chunk of the back of his head missing is just satisfying, in a sick way.

I have spent over 50 hours in my Spore galaxy. I agree that it didn't meet my expectations and that it could have been so much more than it was, but that doesn't mean it isn't good.

I played Quest 64. Never found out what to do after I got to the first city and I found the combat to be difficult. I really should go back, now that I'm older, to give it a fair chance.
