I dunno, I find the collective targets of Facebook/Twitter/WoW pretty hilarious myself.

Twitter and Facebook because well, Maybe some people will start to figure out why you should not put legitimate real world information into the internet in the first place.

WoW well, Because of how zealoty WoW players can be, and how some confuse a video game with life and death situations.

Yes as far as enduring sphinctery antics from a bunch of bored people goes, these are by far my favorite targets to date.

They're actually doing more than just hacking facebook accounts. They released a .txt file with 62,000 email+password combinations. You guys might want to check the list and make sure your information isn't on it.
I saw it but then it asked me to download it...I dont download anything with a lulz sticker:p

They'll have it coming; they'll only have themselves to blame. If you have been there, if you have heard it, I bet that you'll do the same thing as the authorities.

Well, apparently Anon isn't sitting this one out, quite the contrary, they are taking a stand against LulzSec.

No worries. They pissed off the Jester, and now they're going down.
Jester? im unfamiliar with that term or company or Franchise

but yes I hope LulzBoat sinks into river and gets crushed by it

hacking the escpaist

I heard they'd hacked The Escapist but I don't actually know what they did...
Care to elaborate?
i was told that they brought down the site for a bit thats all i know
I was on the escapist before it happend, there were threads about how Lulzsec responded to our criticism (in a butthurt way i may add) and said that we were next, i think Admins caught wind of this and put the site down for a few hours.

They are not actually achieving anything with this, or making a point (as far as I'm aware). Therefore these are useless and futile actions with no benefits or any effects other than causing wide spread internet paranoia.

I can't remember the exact name, but I beleive the original line goes something like "He had it coming, He only had himself to blame. If you'd have been there, If you'd have seen it, I bet that you'd have done the same"

OT: I think these guys have bitten off a little more than they can chew with /b/, as far as I'm aware /b/ is where most of Anon go to chill. Attack /b/ and you attack them which is not something to be taken lightly, or at least is something that most of /b/ won't take lightly

whos the jester?
OT: Meh these guys are funny to watch
The Jester is an ex military hacker who brings down jihadist recruitment websites. Apparently, lulzsec decided to DDOS CIA.gov, and Jester didn't take too kindly to that.
Same dude that went after WBC? I think he's a hero among hackers.

Also where is Anonymous when all this is happening?
That is an interesting story on its own. I took the liberty of visiting Anonymous on Facebook, and messaging one of the users who appeared to be a member of Anonymous. He said he had no problem with them, for two reasons. One, "they expose people and companies for what they are." And two, their attacks expose a website's weakness so they can fix it in the future.

In spite of that, it still makes very little sense to me because they are hacking anyone on their Twitter feed who goes on and criticizes them, which goes against Anonymous's policy of defending free speech. Plus, at least Anonymous has standards. They only go after people who provoke them. They don't attack innocent users for the hell of it--that is why they halted their attack on the PSN (I'm talking the very first one, before LulzSec got involved).

So we can only hope Jester can handle this, or Anonymous has a change of heart. These guys are just online bullies, punching random people in the face because they can.
As far as I'm concerned Anonymous are hacktivists whereas Lulzsec are schoolyard bullies. Activists can actually gain a following based on like-minded individuals or people who just respect the cause where as bullies only gain respect from other bullies.
That implies that Anon is likeminded beyond the idea of wanting to do things anonymously on whatever chan they are on that day. saying that either of these groups are organized to the point of blanketing the term hacktivists to all of them is silly, in reality its a few experienced hackers and script kiddies on the site who organize one raid and the hide behind the name of an anonymous organization with no real head to seem more scary. and attributing these things to anon is just feeding into that fear.

I haven't looked to far into lulzsec, but I'm guessing that its the same type of people doing the same type of thing. only with less history, as they are a new group, and don't have an army of teenagers posting pictures of cats and scat porn to hide behind and make them look bigger and more sinister then they are.

The solution is obvious. Sure, this "Jester" guy can obviously take care of it, but WE won't be satisfied until we have our own revenge, right, Escapist community?

I say we figure out a way to strike at LulzSec and the Lulz Boat ourselves. These guys need to go down and never get back up.
I can deal with it while it's just showing up Sony as the careless bunch of fools that they are, but I for one am all for this if there is a way to get at a group who presumably know how to cover their tracks.
Im curius as to why people say that Sony was a careless bunch of fools when even now we have absolutely no evidence of that being the case.
Because lulzsec hacked them again to prove a point. Genius. They admitted it at some point or another, I that time it was only SonyPictures and they got a bunch of password and usernames, ost of which weren't encrypted at all.

Sir do you even know how to hack? Much less do yo want to get the Escapist, which I'm sure would not like this one bit, in trouble for that kind of action? Yes they brought down the website. Boohoo. Anyone can DDoS a site to death, well any other site except something like google or Netflix. They did something stupid and it affected the community for hours and by the sound of it they won't be doing anything like it in the near future.

The way to sink their boat is to stare blankly at them as they throw their "Umad?" shit at us. It's not as fun as, say declaring Holy internet war on them; but you don't fight fire with petrol.
