Well, you can use one just fine as an ODST in Halo 3: ODST, and while they are undoubtedly some badass motherfuckers I don't think they wear powered armor, certainly nothing close to the gear Spartans have.Rowan93 said:Could an ordinary, not-power-armoured human use it without getting maimed?NinjaDeathSlap said:Melee weapon: The Brute Gravity Hammer from Halo 3/ODST/Reach.
Nothing gives quite the same "Come at me bro!" feeling like holding a Gravity Hammer does. Screw the finesse of the Energy Sword, with the Grav Hammer you can ruin not just the guy you're fighting, but every other unfortunate soul within a 10 square meter radius just for giggles.
Protective gear: Kinetic Barriers from Mass Effect.
More than adequate protection for most encounters without adding any weight, thus maintaining the speed and agility of a completely unarmored person.
In 2 and 3 you get plenty of people wearing just ordinary clothes (I use 'ordinary' in the broadest sense of the word *coughMirandacough*) who are protected by Kinetic Barriers just like everyone else, so while I imagine you do need a power source somewhere on your person I doubt it would be very big or heavy.I think something needs to be generating the shields for them to work. Do you see anyone with shields without an actual suit of armour? I've only played the first game so I guess there might be some.

Speaking of things you can't use without injuring yourself, bolters are designed for power-armoured superhumans who make Halo's spartans look like babies, and besides issues like recoil, have you seen the size of them? A normal-sized human would have trouble lifting the thing.Doclector said:Melee: Mjolnir, thor's hammer.

Jack uses biotic barriers, but Miranda... I guess it might be that sort of wheel thing that both she and Jacob have on their back.Da Orky Man said:How about Jack? She appears to be wearing little more than a few pieces of leather, yet has a kinetic barrier.

Also Miranda, apparently wearing a skin-tight catsuit.

I presume the kinetic barriers can be worn like a belt or such, or even implanted within you.
