I am British and I like to think that I am patriotic, so i was just wondering how do you feel about britain and it's people? what are you're feelings on British stereotypes?
Well, there's several British stereotypes. None of them really bother me, though the cockney one's amusing. :)

I've lived in Britain all my life. I don't really like it now, and I don't like the people much either. But the world's not perfect, eh? :)

Britain used to be an awesome country, but now we let any tom dick and harry into our country, it's now got to the point where they can't be arsed to learn our language, so now in areas we have foreign writing all over the fucking place. If they want to live in my country they're going to have to learn my fucking language! I could go on and on about this and more as to why this country is now pants, but I wont.. Mainly because if I did I'd be up all night in anger.

A British steriotype can't really exist. You cant say a Gordie(someone from the northen city of Newcastle) sounds anything like the traditional steriotype of oxford graduate/upper class snob.

British stereotypes? Awesome and fucking scary. I mean, hooligans, best rockers in the world and food that will kill you. That's a fucking hardcore country right there.

Also, since The Beatles come from England, that makes it the most awesome place ever to have existed.

Beatles > Michael Jackson, Elvis, Jimi Hendrix, Anyone else
You're forgetting that the Beatles didn't get full worldwide recognition until they toured in America.

OT: They're alright, I guess.

I'm just stating that part of your argument is false.
No it's not. America did not make the Beatles famous, it was just another stepping stone for them.

Well, Britain has it's ups and its downs
Wonderful food, great comedy, great people (if your in the right place that is, no places mentioned)
Some of the bad things include the government, celeb culture and neds/chavs etc.

Given the choice, I'd stay where I am. But of course I see myself as a Scotsman first, Brit second.

Randomly, one thing I hate about where I live (south of England). What I call geezerdom: people talking like they come from the East End, swearing all the time, the whole pseudo wheeler-dealer speak of no-nothings. Where have people gone that talk proper?

The Brits can make a very bad name for themselves, cos when you meet an arsehole they somehow manage to be worse than any other type of arsehole. With annoying voices.

That said nearly everyone i've met from the UK has been lovely.

It seems to me they don't see themselves as Europeans. I know that's oversimplifying things. But I'm a simpleton at heart.
I used to care about Britain as I do about all of Europe but I sort of stopped caring somewhere along the road.
Just some island off the coast I don't feel any connection to anymore. *sob*
Interesting point that. I too think that most Brit's don't see themselves as European, rather Europe, to many, is just somewhere where you go for a holiday. I think this is because
1) Where an island, we are not on the continent.

2)Because we are an island we were not conqured by Charlimagne, Napolion and Hitler. We have not been conqured or invaded by a continental European since 1066. Consiquently, are history can be rather "internal" and appear "seperate" to that of mainland Europe (at first glance).

3)Finally, it was only a hunderd years ago when Britain ruled the world, i suppose that gave many Brit's a sense of superioty over the continental European's. It's only now that those day's are slipping from living memory, and where coming to realise where at the same level as other European nations.

This is why you get a load of tabloid bullshit over here saying that Britain need's to leave the EU. Which to them is an evil institution of incompitent Facist beaucrats who want to take over Britain. The tabloids in the UK are what FOX news is to America, both of which are complete and utter rubbish.

Well, I'm currently living in France, but I consider myself English (or British) since I lived there 6 years and I'm half English. Thankfully, I'm also French and Dutch so I'm remotely foreign, but, the English stereotypes in France are terrible! The English are defined by a bad sense of humour, bad teeth, ginger hair(wtf) and stubborness, all of which I am. Anywats, I'm proud of being British (especially proud of coming from Manchester, with Joy Division and Oasis and stuff from there), even through the bad weather and health and safety madness (where I lived in a nearby park 2 waist high goals for children were removed so people didn't trip over them).

The only stereotypes I have about british are the ones my english buddy and his dad has given me. Brits are foulmouthed, violent and find rasist jokes unapropriet funny. They also seem to have a thing for violence.

Nah, I like my country really.
Awesome line from an awesome, British, movie.

There are a thousand British stereotypes, because our country's changed so much and because our different regions each vary so much. Cannot beat British humour however.
