Search bar approved. I think.
Now, what is your belief of what happens after death? This isn't meant to be a depressing topic, but it could be for some.
I believe that you simply lose your mind, quite literally. I have no idea what the absence of a mind would be like, because I have no experience with that that I can recollect, but I don't think I become a ghost or have an afterlife or anything. I believe that I'm simply gone.

Post a response, would you kindly?

EDIT: "I don't know" is not a proper response. Of course no one knows, I'm asking for beliefs.

I am unable to resist since you used the trigger phrase.
I have no idea. I have no way to gather empirical data and disseminate it.

I personally think death is the end of life, and that there is nothing afterward. Death is the ultimate equalizer.

That's it. Game over. Despite the fact that eternal bliss would be kind of nice, it sounds a bit impossible to me. The only consolation I have is the fact that after you die, you don't know you're dead, so it couldn't be that bad.

I believe there will be an afterlife, because I struggle to belief that the universe was just a random occurance that had no intention behind it whatsoever.

I don't think about death. It is one of my greatest fears, so I choose not to fixate on. Anytime I do I tend to temporairly freak out.

I have no beliefs about what happens after death. It is one great unknown. I think anyone who claims that they know exactly what awaits us after death is wrong. Now don't interpret that the wrong way. It is fine to have beliefs about death and what lies beyond. I just believe that no one theory about death is any more accurate than all the other theories.

So yeah, that's probably not the most interesting answer, but it is my stance on death. I don't think about it mostly out of fear, but also because I just don't see the point in constantly wondering about something I can never get the answer to.

Hell, when I'm dead, they can just throw me in a hole. I won't know the difference.

And death is a very terrifying thought. To be here one second and then gone the next is just unimaginable.

I find it too depressing to think that death is the end, too many lives cut short, and too much wasted potential.
The just and the unjust all meet with the same fate, as a believer of universal karma, I find it more appealing to think that there's something after our mortal lives. Some sort of validation for our deeds. Besides, I'm not willing to buy near death experiences as simply hallucinations.

my opinion

you will simply disappear, your memories, your soul, everything will be disolved into the ether.
only thing that will remain for some time after your death, will be other people's memories of you and perhaps some pictures, all which will fade and disappear with time, unless there's actually a valid reason to remember you. (such as getting your name in the history books).

That is a depressing line of thought, yet basically correct.

I can think of no substantial evidence to support the ancient assertion of an afterlife, however much I want to believe that after I die, some thinking, feeling part of me will continue. The thinking, feeling part of us humans falls apart in such a complete way that it is difficult to believe that, even if the conscious component of the human experience were to continue, it would continue to identify itself as human.

However, there is some tepid evidence for paranormal activity that should be considered. While truly scientific evidence for such occurences are rare, they do exist. I think there may be some mechanism which accounts for such circumstances (evolved capacity to quantumly entangle brain patterns, perhaps even with outer materials or other people?) but we must, of course, further research the problem.

Since we do not understand why humans experience consciousness, I don't think that anyone is qualified to talk about exactly what happens after you die. Surely, you wouldn't be 'you' anymore, and in all likelyhood not at all human, but I'm inclined to believe that the phenomenon of conscious experience is not unique to humans, or unique to animals, or even unique to life. As it is yet unexplained, the simplest explaination is that it is simply an integral part of the whole universe.

And how do you know this? So many people claim to know what happens after death, yet none of them have proof. Nobody here has experienced it. And when you do, you wont be coming back to tell us about it.

I've always wondered why so many people are so confident about what lies after death when it is a complete unknown. So why do you believe your theory is correct?

So consciousness may actually be a result of quantum-mechanical events? That's a very interesting idea. I myself will believe in ghosts when I see them, but my mother and several relatives believe in them.

It's not really a fact, just an assumption.
