In addition, word is spreading that THQ has returned IP to Disney AFTER paying the advance, with no refund.

The company now seems to exist only to finish up it's 2012 releases and to be sold. Gen 6 claims another dev/pub.

Shame. I liked MX 2002 with Ricky Carmicheal. It's a shame to see old developers just die, presumably because they're not making an FPS nowadays.

But if that truly happens, that saddening. I bought THQ pack other year on steam, and had much fun with WH40k DoW 2. Company of Heroes is one of the best strategy games I ever played. Also, they publish STALKER, which is a great game.

I do remember hearing late last year that THQ had to close down several studios, including the ones who madethe De Blob franchise to foucs on franchise that were multiplatform (ironic as De Blob 2 was muliplatform).
The one thing THQ does more than other publishers is take risks. Homefront was a risk coming up against CoD. While the story was a great premise it was the shortness of the campaign that let it donw.
Space Marine was another risk, coming up against Gears 3. However I found Space Marine quite refreshing compared to Gears and at times the multiplayer was more fun.
I think THQ makes most of its money from the WWE games. Which is a shame.

If it's true then there's going to be a lot of unhappy 40K fans out there.

That said, the little i'd heard about it wasn't that promising - going with a two faction set up in the 40K universe was just never going to work in a way that made sense (inasmuch as any of that gloriously over the top setting makes 'sense')

That also said, I'd be surprised if someone else didn't pick it up. On paper at least a 40K MMO is a can't lose proposition. On paper...

Damn... That 40k MMO could have been great (As long as it didn't end up as imbalanced as War Online did... Making non-healers and glass cannons feeling mostly redundant)
