Started listening to a lot of thrash bands lately. Anyone have suggestions for any bands? 80s and modern ones.

Also feel free to discuss your hatred for black metal.

Testament, Pantera...that's about all I've got, I'm not big on thrash, more into power metal myself.

Edit: How the hell'd I forget the Big 4? I'll blame it on the fact it's morning.

The only "metal" I hate is that "hardcore" shit where every band plays the same 3/4 break down, and grunts and growls through the whole song like they think they've got talent. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind bands who do the growling thing. Amon Amarth, Amorphis, bands like that are fine, but only because they aren't this new wave of shitty "music."

Edit 2: Found this handy topic Metal Thread [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.285181-Metal-Thread?page=1]. It might be of use to you.

My suggestions:
Accusser
Assassin
Die Hard
Exciter
Exodus (well duh)
Exumer
Hellish Crossfire
Hobbs Angel of Death
Kat
Lunatics Without Skateboards
Minotaur
Nocturnal
Overkill (well duh²)
Sodom (Well duh³)
Toxik
Vio-Lence
Warrant (Germany)
Whiplash

And like stated previously I don't hate black metal, there's some great bands to be found there too (Gospel of the Horns, Nifelheim, Nocturnal Breed are some great BM bands with a lot of Thrash influences)

Well congratulations for discovering the best genre in metal.
Try Tankard, Sodom, Suicidal Tendencies(first three albums) and Kreator.

Annihilator and Overkill are a must. Best damn bands there are. Annihilator went to hell after Padden joined the band though.

I'm dissapointed people, Slayer!? Big four!? I'm a huge fan of Anthrax and Megadeth, Slayer are ok, not too into Mettalica, but I guess I shouldn't be suprised they were mentioned, although they're not what I was after initially. I was listening to the big four before I even got into thrash.

Lately I've been listening to, Municipal Waste, Lich King, Testament (early stuff), Overkill, Exodus, Evildead, DRI, plenty of others that I can't think off the top of my head.

@Voxgiser Not sure I'd call Pantera thrash, I guess its debatable. Also the Metal thread was the inspiration for this one.

Fair enough, like I said, I'm not big on thrash, personally. :)

Ah, I see, well, hopefully you find some good ones.

Oh well its Fog of War by a band with the same name, and Overkill's cover of Deuce by KISS

I'd say Pantera is more Groove Metal, their earlier albums were Glam and had some atrocious album artwork

Fixed.

And you shouldn't be surprised the Big 4 was mentioned. They're called the Big 4 for a reason.

Haha, that's amazing, thought their first album was cowboys from Hell.
