Bloody hell! Picking your favourite band is like picking a footy team, cheering one and booing the other. You know it's just entertainment right? And the band you like might like the bands you don't like.

Eh, whatever, I'll play along. If Metallica and Megadeth are considered thrash (I honestly don't give a shit about genres) then I find they have the most powerful melodies out of the lot. Motorhead is pretty cool, give the Ace Of Spades album a listen. Also, I think the song Painkiller is considered thrash metal from the band Judas Priest, worth adding that to your library. Some other well known ones you should try are Slayer, Testament, Venom, Exodus, Anthrax and Overkill.

What are the big 4? I saw that mentioned in a previous post.
The Big Four are Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax.
Thanks mate, I was wondering about Metallica and Megadeth.

When they say Metallica do they mean just the first 4 albums?
I'd more say the first 5 albums and Death magnetic but other than that I fucking well hope so!

OT: Is the last half of the post not making it obvious enough?

I always thought of Running Wild as power metal. I like them.

I don't like this song, though. It sounds more thrash metal.

I guess I like more complex melodies and atmospheric sounds, I don't know. I'd also rather the raw sound of black metal than commercialized thrash metal.

My vote is definitely for the Big 4, specifically Megadeth and Anthrax. Also try Evile, Gama Bomb, Lazarus A.D., and Testament.

Мастер because obscure russian thrash metal is always fun.
Also Gama Bomb and Evile are good, unlike metallica who've kind of lost all their drive for making metal.

These are pretty good.

Also, gotta love this cover:

Oh well its Fog of War by a band with the same name, and Overkill's cover of Deuce by KISS
I fixed the links for you. ;D

OT: I can't really distinguish between metals, but I'd say some of Bullet For My Valentine counts as thrash, right?

The Exploited were okay when they did thrash, but they were Punk for the most part.

The Haunted was a decent modern thrash metal band. On a side note, Slayer is awesome and so is black metal (especially black folk metal).

Normally mistaking Bullet for thrash would be an unforgivable crime, but since you have acknowledged that you may be wrong, I will spare your wretched life. However, as a way of an apology, I ask that you remove your hand and send it to me as a trophy. This sacrifice is the only way to repay your crimes against metal.

PLUG TIME!!!! [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/Escapist-Head-Bangers]
Not really much of a Thrash guy (I like my metal more on the melodic/power/symphonic persuasion), but join the group if you can. It got me introduced to bands I would never have known otherwise.

Well , what about Death Angel or Children of Bodom - haven't seen them here.
Although CoB is disputed as a genre by fans - I think it's trash with a blend of symphonic death metal , but hey I still think they're good.

I need my hands for playing bass, sorry. Can I send you some other part of my anatomy, instead? Maybe an ear, or one of my feet?
