Is anyone else extremely annoyed by the stupidity in saying, "/ thread" ?

I'm tired of it. The people who say it usually are proven wrong just a few posts down and it just seems utterly retarded.

Anyone agree? I've given up the habit of trying to appear witty by putting that line down, at least.

It shouldn't be in escapists' posts.

I think it should only be used by others that are agreeing with someone else's post.

I personally don't see an issue. It's normally done with a tongue in cheek attitude or where the poster is truly proud of what that have posted.

Not like they really want the thread to just keel over and the posters to say "Well, shit, looks like we're done here!"

I find it interesting when one uses it on someone else's Post, but it seems quite arrogant when put in one's own Post.

I find that whenever anyone, shall we say "Toots their own horn", I gain a negative prediction of said thing's quality.
Similarly, when someone claims at the end of something that it was grand, I find it lowers the item's overall quality.

Of course I value modesty quite highly, so that could be why.

Oh, and Escapists: If you're trying to be witty, at least make it /Thead *Points towards Thread Title*

I was going to make some awful joke about how there's been a [/dearth] of [/thread] remarks recently, and then smugly call attention to the fact that "dearth" is "thread" backwards.

Then I realized I was just letting my dyslexia get the better of me again.

...

[sub]Also, does anyone else find it ironic that "thread" is misspelled in the title, or am I being herr Grammar Nazi again?[/sub]

That was exactly what i was getting at and why it bothered me.

"Hey, guys, check it out. I think he's being sarcastic."

"Woah.. I think you're right.."

"Totally. That's pretty righteous."

I find it comes off as self-important for someone to put into their own post, although tolerable to use when quoting someone else's thought out response. It's a little presumptuous to say "end thread" in any context.

So, yes you can use it, but it does look like you're a dick. That's my take on it.

GOOD eye!

I apologize. I was pretty decent but overlooked that. Sorry, it's late and I've been drinking(which shouldn't be an excuse)
