Extreme G. More trance, more bikes, more tracks, more lasers, more defiance of gravity. I feel like the franchise ended just as it became as good a Wipeout, with a little more work it could easily have become better.

Freelancer. A Pornographically beautiful Elite clone that tragically failed to live up to its promise. I still get shivers when I arrive in the Neutron Star system. Developer died while making a promising looking sequel. A Freelancer 2 should be like the original but more so- more crazy space phenomena, more secret systems, more exploration, and this time CAPITAL SHIPS. Could easily club Eve, at least in terms of gameplay.

Command and Conquer Generals. All the good stuff from other CnC games, married to a more robust, management-centric infrastructure, with NO UNIT CAP? HELL YES, SOLDIER. Lasers and lasers on tanks and laser tanks and oh shit I just got exploded with poison. A lot of folks give this one a bad rap because it doesn't have Cain or Yuri and you can't just shit buildings wherever you want instantly, but it's aged super well, and its pitched battles were beautiful symphonies of twisted metal and atomic carnage. A sequel was in the works, then it got turned into a whole-franchise-reboot, then it got canned when people found out it would be totally micro-transaction based and people took offense. IT CAN STILL BE SAVED.

Supreme Commander. 2 games, neither quite getting it right: you can play supcom 1 for vast strategic wars with boring, mass-wins trash units, or you can play 2 for fun, balanced units that jam up on each other in tiny chokepoint-ey maps. If someone took the units and tech mechanic from 2 and dropped them on the maps and base-building mechanics of 1 and gave it a fresh coat of paint, I would literally joy-shit my pants. We were told Planetary Annihilation would be that game but... yeah, no.

BURY

Medal of Honor. All the worse to say because the first couple were really fun. Now it's just a long series of forgettable tripe. Let it go. I'd have put Call of Duty here, but I NEVER liked Call of Duty so it has yet to disappoint me.

Simcity. Other people do it better now. There's no reason to continue. Not that you can play the damn thing half the time anyhow.

Xenogears/Xenosaga - Xenogears is still my favorite game ever, and I was really looking forward to Xenosaga remaking it (as Xenosaga Episode 5) but the crashing and burning of the Xenosaga franchise due to them attempting to fire the creators and then hiring them back robbed me of a fully voice-acted version of my favorite game. I WANT IT.

I want it so much that it eats my other two resurrects because it needs another prequel, a remake, and a sequel - thus this resurrect is actually three resurrects in one.

.

Bury:

Sonic the Hedgehog.

I loved Sonic 1-3+Kunx. I loved Sonic Adventure 1. I liked Sonic Adventure 2. Since then... well, I'm sure everyone here knows the Sonic Cycle at this point.

Enough is enough. Stop. Just stop. The horse has been beaten. Let it go. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=moSFlvxnbgk]

....

I don't have any other kills. I don't like lots of games, but other's do, so no reason to kill em. I only mention Sonic because, as a fan, I just want to see the pain end already.

Zone of the Enders - Much as I love Metal Gear (and I LOVE Metal Gear), I don't really want to see it go on forever; and we don't see a lot of High Speed Robot Action (tm). Maybe not ZoE 1, but what I've played of ZoE 2 is...nuts. I love it.

Conflict (Desert Storm, Vietnam, Global Storm, you know) - I really, really enjoyed these games, a typical TPS in many ways but they had so many more options than other supposedly tactical shooters, and also no cover system. I don't know what the hell Denied Ops was but it didn't sound good, and I assume everything just died after that. Global Storm had some interesting ideas that I quite appreciated. Also local co-op, can't be forgotten about.

Viva Pinata - Truthfully, I can't see where the series would have gone after this, unless you had some kind of ecosystem of multiple gardens, but it'd have been nice for Rare to stick around.

Bury (although I find the idea of 'I don't like this so no one should have it rather childish, really)

Silent Hill - I don't doubt that Silent Hills will be good, but all people are going to do is whine about how they don't like Kojima (or del Toro, or both) and how it's not Silent Hill 2. Here's how to stop that. Far as I'm aware none of the original team Silent remain, so it seems strange that it still exists.

Total War - If only because their profile has somewhat...diminished since Rome 2. I'd rather they fix it or make it more focused, as opposed to burying it. Same kinda goes for Civilization really, mostly because although I like the rule changes (hexes, no unit stacks), everything else seems to be going downhill, especially multiplayer.

Grand Theft Auto - Basically I love Red Dead Redemption, I loved LA Noire despite the glaring flaws, and I think Rockstar can make more interesting games than bad satire gangbanger shooty drive bang. Or at least set it in Glasgow.

And my new third category - Leave Alone.

I like it when a series reaches a natural conclusion, and I don't like to see things drawn out when there's no material to do so, so this can include games I love.

Metal Gear - I think Revengeance on it's own is fantastic, I don't see where you could take it from there; Phantom Pain looks amazing, but barring a kinda sorta remake of Metal Gear 1 and 2 to bring us full circle, I'd like to see it end at Phantom Pain, in which Big Boss has, I assume, become the Big Boss of Outer Heaven.

I would happily invite spinoffs, however. Like Metal Gear Acid or just something with the same stealth action focus, because despite the majority finding the controls awkward (and I'm the kind of weirdo that doesn't like the 3rd person camera from Snake Eater Subsistence), I think they're perfect.

Dishonored - I loved Dishonored. I don't think there needs to be another one. New game plz Arkane.

Also, chaps, what do you really think that killing off CoD/Battlefield/EA Sports/AssCreed/Halo would *actually* accomplish.

well maybe I think differently about EA sports because no one else makes sports games, which is a shame.

Pre-rendered background games. Yep, I would like to see this old fashioned type of game live again with current technology. Whether it be the 2D cinematic platformers like Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee and Heart of Darkness, or the 3D tank-controlled ones like Resident Evil, Onimusha, and Dino Crisis.

Bury:

Over-the-shoulder action games, but just for a few years or so. It's a terrific solution for third-person action games, but I feel it's stifling creativity, with developers automatically going for this mechanic everytime they make an action game that's not an FPS.

Resurrect: Three titles I am quite fond of and they haven't had a sequel in at least five years (I guess Condemned, Left 4 Dead and Bayone- oh wait).

Bury: Your favourite franchise, not because it's harming the industry (what a ridiculous notion), but because you like it. Yes, YOU.

You know I'm going to take a different approach to this. Instead of saying we should bury the ultra-popular annual series like CoD, Assassin's Creed and EA Sports, I'll request that we receive no more games for series with their stories concluded. I remember a time when those three series were some of my favourites, and while I may not like them much anymore I am sure there are plenty who do.

Hence I request no sequel to The Last of Us and no more Mass Effect titles. I love those games dearly but their stories are done. I don't want to see anymore unless they're completely different stories that just happened to share a setting.

As for resurrection... I honestly can't think of one. I would have said Unreal Tournament but that is getting a new game so yay.

The first game I would fund is the next Call of Duty title. I am pretty sure I will be able to earn back my investment at least 3 times.

Then I would use that to make a new SimCity that does everything right what the last game did wrong.
I would also invest in Half Life 3 and a Beyond Good&Evil Sequel. But only if there is a clause in the contract that says those games have to come out within this decade.

As for what I would bury? Several people have already said that they wouldn't want to bury anything since there are always people who enjoy those games. And I agree with that sentiment.

WipEout - Playstation just isn't the same without it
Secret of Mana - a new game in the same style as the original trilogy. I would love a proper 2D sequel to be honest
Shenmue - need I say more?

I'd pay big bucks for any Kickstarter involving above series.

Honorable mention: F-Zero, G-Police, Crash Bandicoot

YES! Been saying this for years. I'd love some new RPGs with pre-rendered backgrounds as well. A new FF in a medieval fantasy setting please.

Quake: It's a classic series and it was one of the first games I ever played, I bought the Steam version for the sake of nostalgia and it hasn't disappointed (with the patch include the Nine Inch Nails soundtrack at least)

Mech Warrior: What's MWO? Never heard of it. I refuse to acknowledge the most recent "iteration" but I would love a new single player game in the vein of MW4 Vengeance. Alongside Quake, this was one of the franchises of my childhood.

Dust An Elysian Tail: Fuck you Microsoft for not allowing a sequel!

Bury

COD: it's a corpse being held aloft by rabid fans of it's multiplayer, the new one looks interesting but all I've heard is that it's more the same with a vaguely cyberpunk theme

GTA: I have no love for this series, I wanted to like it but it just bores me to tears.

Elder Scrolls: I wanted to get into this series, I really did. But much like GTA I get bored. The only difference here is that I played Skyrim up to a point and found it lifeless and dull. I don't really care for Bethesda developed RPGs.

1) Magic The Gathering: Microprose. I've posted about this one several times. It's amazing and ProJared recently covered the game if you want to see why.

2) Warcraft RTS: Warcraft 3 remains my favorite RTS to date. I'm fairly confident we'll see a Warcraft 4 RTS some day but it's not set in stone to my knowledge.

3) MUD level of detail RPG's: I miss the awesome character customization of some of the MUD's I played in the past. The gameplay in Pandora's Box (my choice MUD back in the day) was excellent. I'm sure you could incorporate that level of tactics and fun into a graphical RPG current day. I miss things like the fighter kicking dirt in someone's eyes to invoke blindess. The Rogue doing a neck thrust to temporarily mute a caster. The fast pace, fast reaction real-time combat with various skills potions and the like.

Bury:

Nothing. As I've said many times before...I'd rather have too much of something than not enough. Just to be a good sport though, I'll reference 3 types of games I'm very much sick of seeing but can gladly pass over for someone else who might think differently.

1) WoW and it's many other grind based MMO's. If your game takes longer getting players TO the fun than actually having fun then it's failed. WoW isn't a bad game by any stretch of the imagination. But it didn't deserve to have it's formula copied for over a decade. I'm so over senseless travel and quest acquisition/return grind. So over walking through a field of trash mobs for the 3rd time to do another quest and killing the respawned enemies again and again. So over traveling for minutes on a mount seemingly saving time but still taking as long as it took to walk to quests at the earlier smaller maps.

2) Sports titles: People here say CoD is bad and yet you have 10x worse in the EA sports genre. Here is a series of games that can barely change from year to year. At least in CoD you can change gun types, scenarios, plot, add in new tech, etc. CoD feels like the same game but clearly offers a different story. EA Sports games don't have the luxury of being so creative. Don't force these games onto the market until you have the content truly worthy of a new game.

3) __________ Simulator: Because they clog my steam page and I'm still clicking 'not interest' even after 40+ simulator titles have shown up in my queue. (If anyone knows how to just not follow everything of a certain tag that would be sweet).

Warhammer 40k: Space Marine
How can you tell someone who has played this from someone who has not? If they say "It's a Gears clone", they haven't played it. It was a brutal clash of ceramite on Warp flesh which captured the feeling perfectly, and with more practise, could have been perfect. Not only that, but the storyline they were planning for the trilogy of "Titus goes on a death mission, gets corrupted, and leads his own Black Crusade to Ultramar to get revenge" would have been amazing. This game should have done better than it did, but it was marketed terribly despite being pretty kick-ass.

Resident Evil:
Please bring back the Resi 1, 2, 3 and Code Veronica type gameplay. I want the original, beautiful, sexy Resident Evil, not her younger daughters who cover themselves in make-up, walk around in short-shorts and thinks she's all that when there is naught but dust and farts. However, they're remaking the first, and hopefully they don't fuck it up.

Bury:

Metal Gear Solid.
Look, I love me some Metal Gear Solid. Look at my avatar.
But you know what? It's done. Let the Phantom Pain set up the beginning of Metal Gear, maybe redo Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake (or better yet, give it to Silicon Knights to remake like Twin Snakes), and leave it.
The story is told. The legacy of Big Boss, and Solid Snake. It's a great story. I love it. It's clever and silly at the same time. But Kojima is sick of it. He wants to move on. And no one could ever replace him. And the story has now come full circle. Just leave it. Perhaps bundle it together into a final "Les Efants Terrible" bundle which has every game in a single box for £100 and on the PC so it can be enjoyed forever, and then just... leave it.
Let Kojima move onto Silent Hill, a game which desperately needs his attention. Looking at PT, he is perfectly capable of it and I'm extremely excited to see what he'll do with it.

Final Fantasy.
Look, I have every Final Fantasy. But your new generation, they just can't hack it. They have had many tries at redoing it, but from 11 onwards has been one giant fucking disaster after another. Let it actually be Final. Move onto new projects. Maybe when your directors have had a bit more experience, or some new blood has entered the company, let them make a new one. Not FF15. Start a new series of them. Maybe just FF for a reboot. But now? Lightning has struck three times and ruined the entire fucking thing.

I would fund-

Metal Arm: Glitch in the system (It was a solid 3rd person shooter and it did leave room for a sequel.)
Timesplitter. Nuff said. Yes I have read that it may or may not be in development but unless I see READ development then I will fund it!
Supeme Commander. Yes they mess up the sequel but I wouldn't put the final nail in the coffin. They know what made the first game so great so do more of that!

Bury-
Final Fantasy.
Call of Duty.
Resident Evil.

As for their reasons, nuff said.

Psychonauts Despite it's mechanic imperfections, I feel DoubleFine could make a great take-2 on it's 3D platform collectathon. I wonder if a Kickstarter could garner the 22 million it would need. A game has already reached that milestone i hear. perhaps it's too late for that sort of crowed trust after the fumbling of Broken Age.

Timesplitters Or would I? While we need another shooter with this much personality, I don't really know if it's this one. I mean the series ended had itself. The Timesplitters are gone. What more can you do? I'd love to see a Goldeneye/Perfect Dark/Timesplitters Spiritual follow-up and an HD release of the latter that doesn't change shit, But maybe not a new installment.

Banjo Kazooie? Again, Or would I? At this point what is there left to do? I don't just want a reboot. Also, unlike DoubleFine, I don't see Rare, or anyone for that matter, making a worthy follow-up. Psychonauts can rely on it's unresolved story and it's interesting psychic mechanical themes but what can the bear and bird do? 3D collectathons have changed and I don't see any new improvements to this series can make in 2010s. What would a "Galaxy" move look like for Banjo?

... shoot, those last two didn't sound like resurrections at all. I'll try some more.

Crash Team Racing The first game was mechanically on par Mario Kart 64 but had so much more to offer. The second one was the same but didn't feel as good. The third one looked interesting with its little theme park but... Just why? Do I really want a another mediocre instIM TERRIBLE AT THIS!

I'm Yahtzeeing here. 3 is a lot. Combined with everyone else here, do we need that many sequels?
