Kim Swift, because even the best game designers aspire to do in their lifetimes what she did right out of college.

Ada Lovelace, because I like women who don't take shit from history.

Commander Shepard, because history is still being written.

One living, one dead, and one fictional...I think that covers the bases. And you know, for such a nerdy demographic, I am frankly astonished that none of these women have been mentioned. What gives, Escapist?

One of the movies about Jeanne d'Arc only shows her winning one battle (and then skips ahead). That's probably why. It was just to save time so they could have her freak out more. They off-handedly mention her winning more battles, but they only filmed one (I'm of course talking about the one staring what's-her-name from the Resident Evil movies).
Is that the one where the girl gets stabbed into a door then raped at the beginning of the movie?
Yup.

Which didn't happen to Jeanne historically. They just put it in there to explain why she was insane. Which... she may or may not have been, depending on whether she actually saw Saints talking to her, or was just screwing with people to talk them into letting her lead an army.

Ah, never made it past that part in the movie, I called it quits when I saw that

That is true, but the English tried and found her guilty of heresy and witchcraft, although it was politically motivated. I also heard that her voices could have come from a certain tumor that was common in the middle ages, but I'm not sure what it was called.
Well, sure the English found her guilty of heresy and witchcraft. A teenaged girl just handed them their own asses on a plate, with a white wine sauce. Whether she heard voices or not, she was a young woman doing a man's work.

Also, when your soldiers hear that a literal Saint is leading the opposing army, they are going to desert the army. It was spin control to prevent that from happening.

And yes, there are certainly medical explanations for her hallucinations, if she had them. There are a number of diseases that cause religious visions. What historians can't prove is if she was faking those visions or not, which has led to disagreements. Particularly since she was really creative during battles. She did all sorts of unexpected crap and surprised the enemy repeatedly.

Read my edit, if you would, as I'm much to lazy too type it out again xD

Come to think of it, that may not be a good sign.
Ah, TB. A disease with more symptoms I cannot think of.

Of course, I know this about TB because theres an episode of House about it. ^^

Actually, that's where most of my medical knowledge comes from. Including that there are several diseases that cause religious visions.

I have no idea if TB is one of them, but if your source said it was, it might be. It's not a tumor, though, it's a lung disease. Specifically it makes your lungs disintegrate into bloody goo, so you eventually drown in your own blood.

For more morbid medical information, watch House, M.D., whatever day of the week it airs!

Seriously on Audrey Hepburn- changed her original Dutch name and danced ballet to raise money for the Dutch resistance, while simultaneously running intelligence between members of the resistance through messages hidden in her ballet slippers. She would gather intel and rendezvous with Brits and Dutch fighters, simply slipping past guards by being too damn cute to be suspected of anything other than adorable. She would bribe guards with smiles and FLOWERS to keep them unaware... fucking FLOWERS

Fighting Nazism, with cuteness. Then went on to be a ridiculously good actress and humanitarian for UNICEF

I don't see a reason to admire people I dont' know and who, other than things like OPrah, are only "admirable" because they're sexy.
You.. find Oprah sexy?

Ripley from Aliens

Sarah Connor from T1 (not t2 because it took more badassery to overcome her fear and injury i the factory to win than anything she did in t2)

and Ayn Rand because she told all the whining commies to stfu and gbtw

--------

So yeah other than rand I can't think of any real life woman that has done anything worth admiring

I'm not sure if you mean real or fictional, so I'll put both:

Real:

Joan of Arc

Queen Elizabeth the 1st

Esther (Biblical)

Fictional:

Beatrix AKA "The Bride" Kiddo from KillBill

Eowyn from Lord of the Rings

Sarah Jane Smith from Doctor Who (RIP Elizabeth Sladen).
