"Blue is Petrels, just like Green. That's why he is so desperate to get Green rescued. Now tell me, did Kieth give you any special instructions?" He edged her over until her back was bent slightly on the railing.

He looked into her eyes and saw fear. He grinned and kissed her on the lips.

"Don't worry, we're all on the same side. You're one of my tools now, don't you forget it. Leave Blue behind, Petrel is old news. Proton is rising, no matter what those two wannabes think."

His eye suddenly darted to the front gate of the mansion. A ranger was walking by it. He grabbed her and roughly pulled her into the bedroom.

"Shit. Stay here." he ran out of the room in a hurry.

Mayu had been rummaging around some boxes near the front window when something caught her eye. She could definitely tell that it was a Ranger! Gulping, she quickly crouched out of the sight of the window. She was now wearing a fancy hat with a feather poking out of it, as well as some jewelry on her arms and neck. This place was a treasure trove! She had even scored some extra clothes from here as well and they all fit. Giggling, she said. "Pretty soon I'm gonna need another bag." She then gulped and said. "I've gotta warn the others!" She hurried down the attic stairs and nearly bowled into Alex. Making a sacrifice, she decided to fall backwards onto her bottom, avoiding impact, while saying. "Alex! There's a Ranger at the gate!" She didn't know he already knew this information.

"...Yer pretty jumpy."

"No," She said, pushing her glasses back on,as they'd fallen off one ear when she jumped,"Just cautious. We all came from different lives, I just happen to be from a life I may be recognized from before I joined up with the Rockets."

"As for the Ekans, I'd only had him a few weeks, and I know next to nothing about Poison-types, so it wasn't too hard."

She reached for her pokeballs and let Machoke and Rainy-Day out,"If either of these had been taken, I'd have been a bit more aggressive about keeping them."

Machoke stood with her arms crossed behind Leela, muscles rippling. Rainy however, found the new and somewhat recognizable surroundings much more enjoyable than Celadon's boring colors, the only thing keeping it from being near perfect was the lack of rain or water falling from something. Within seconds of the light fading, Rainy had found the most comfortable place that could fit his twenty foot long body, one of the couches in the room.

"And Zane's just some grunt around here somewhere that has a bit of a hard-on for Max and Alex. Thinks he's smart, but he's got about the same amount of subtlety as a Legendary sighting being kept quiet does."

The kiss was an open threat if she ever saw one. I'm in deep shit... As soon as Alex left the room she thought about leaving. He was the commander, and she was sure hiding out with other grunts would either make it worse, or it wouldn't matter. It would just be a matter of time. She took another deep breath, finishing the cigarette and flicking it outside.

Then again, he was the commander. She had to stay. Whatever he was planning to do was his right. She looked around the window at the entrance, watching the ranger. This Alex was interesting.

"Just cautious. We all came from different lives, I just happen to be from a life I may be recognized from before I joined up with the Rockets."

"Ah, I get it. I guess I jus' never worried about anythin' like that, always thought I could take whatever shit life threw at me."

She eyed the Pokemon she tossed out, givin' a smirk at the Machoke flexing, and a little glare at the one that took up her couch, but then her gaze softened as it settled in, looking pretty comfortable.

"Nice...Well, ya already saw my Ekans, here's th' others!"

She let out her Koffing and Magenemite, who looked a little tired, as if they've been sleeping for a long time. But as soon as they saw they had company, they had happy looks on their faces, the Magnemite crackling with electricity and the Koffing billowing smoke.

"As for the Ekans, I'd only had him a few weeks, and I know next to nothing about Poison-types, so it wasn't too hard."

"Next'ta nothin', eh? Well, where I grew up, th' local gym leader loved the shit outta 'em, so of course I got myself an interest in 'em m'self."

She bent down and let her Ekans coil around her arm, and she gave it a little smooch on it's diamond-shaped head.

"I always saw those lil' brats runnin'ta th' center, cryin' about what Koga's oversized moth did to 'em...I jus' fell in love with th' effects."

"And Zane's just some grunt around here somewhere that has a bit of a hard-on for Max and Alex. Thinks he's smart, but he's got about the same amount of subtlety as a Legendary sighting being kept quiet does."

Her face crinkled into a snarl at that bit of information.

"Ah, one of THOSE assholes, eh? Welp, best way'ta deal with a fuck like that is'ta either ignore'em or fight fire with fire."

Business ventures, title deeds, transaction records...

If there was anything incriminating or valuable in here Dirk sure as hell couldn't see it. Not that he was an expert by any means. Hell, even stuff as mundane as this could fetch a good price as long as you knew who to sell it to.

His old contacts weren't viable though. Almost all the ones that hadn't assimilated into the rockets or a rival gang had long been pushed out. And everyone else had simply dropped out of contact. It simply wouldn't be worth it to hang on to these personally. He resolved to turn them in to Max tommorow.

As he emerged from the lounge he saw the kid and Alex and sliently wondered what was going on. He was still carrying the papers though and stepped into the shadows just in case Alex asked him about them. Luckily staying unnoticed was not only one of his talents but also a favorite pasttime. He stood stock still and watched the pair, listening.

Alex completely ignored Mayu, shouting to the grunts.

"EVERYONE QUIET! You there, get the butler."

The butler was rushed to the front by the grunt looking after him.

"Listen, there's a ranger coming to the door. Tell him he can't come in and that we're nowhere around here. Fail to do that and I'll bust your head up harder this time."

The old man nodded slowly just as the doorbell rang. The butler opened the giant front door while Alex stayed on the side of it, out of sight. He stared at the butler.

"Good morning Walter, is Alexander up? I was wondering if we might have some breakfast before the game."

"I'm sorry sir, but Mr. Grey is in bed still. He's got a nasty cold and won't be able to join you and your friends today."

The ranger looked disappointed.

"How'd he get a cold? He's such a germaphobe."

"I'm not a doctor sir."

"Anyway, may I come in for a bite anyway? I'm famished."

Alex looked at the filthy mansion with its pushed over furniture. There were a few grunts lying in the couches asleep.

"Master's orders that there are no visitors today."

"Oh well. You haven't had any trouble with Rockets have you? We've had an incident not two hours away from here. They burned down a farmhouse."

There was a soft but unmistakable sound of a bat touching the ground. The butler winced slightly.

"I have not heard of it but rest assured we'll let you know if they do pass by."

"Thanks Walter. Give the old man my regards." said the Ranger, tipping his cap and turning away.

The butler closed the door. Alex hit the old man in the leg with the bat.

"Well done! Please do have a good rest now Walter." The old man limped back to his room, escorted by a grunt. Alex turned back to the grunts.

"Go to bed, all of you. I want you fresh tonight."

He made his way back into the room with Ellie, moving over to the balcony. He yawned.

"Are you tired.. What was your name?"

Mayu had followed after Alex, keeping a safe distance of course, and once she had gotten the message to rest, she nodded her head and made her way to the rooms. She checked the bedrooms and most were occupied, but there was a child's room where the small boy of about five or six was wide awake, with an annoyed looking grunt watching over him. The bed looked big enough to hold two adults, let alone a single child. Must have been nice being rich. Going over to the bed, she simply slipped under the covers and said to the boy. "I'm taking this bed in the name of Team Rocket. If you wake me up, I'll give you a good spanking." This seemed to get through to the boy that she wasn't to be disturbed, and the Grunt gave a small chuckle at her words.

"My name is Mikaela. Most people call me Ellie: it's easier for them. You can call me what you wish, Commander." From the looks of it, his nickname for her would be "tool", or "grunt", the latter being the most common way higher ups addressed her. "I'm not tired, like the others. We had time to rest in Celadon before we were added to your group." She crossed her arms, remembering not to go out on the balcony. She didn't want to offend any of the officers, but she wasn't about to chase injury or death.

A Ranger had come around? That could have gone south quick. Luckily they'd managed to turn him away. Although...it seemed like he'd given up just a little too easily. Especially considering he was aquainted with the residents...

Stashing the papers behind a convinient pot plant Dirk went after Alex, finding him with a grunt that had transferred from blue team. He faltered slightly, praying to a false god that he hadn't interrupted anything and that Alex wouldn't see fit to cave in his skull for it. Better keep it clean.

"Sir. Do we have a watch shift arranged? I'm worried the ranger may have noticed something was wrong and may be calling in back up."

Dirk was hoping that Alex would see this more as a grunt with initiative offering help than a grunt questioning his leadership abilities. Because as it was, all of them waking up in cuffs was a very real possibility and Dirk didn't want to go to jail again.

Alex just turned and glared intensely at Dirk until he left. A watch was already arranged and he was not concerned about any rangers.

"Well Mikaela, come with me. I'm not so tired either." he said, winking. He took her hand and led her down the hallway to the bathroom he had set up in. He closed the door behind them. It was good to be the boss.

* * *

Having stirred from the ringing of the doorbell, he rubbed his eyes and jumped into the pool. Having refreshed himself a little bit, he dried off and went back to his sleeping bag. Alex was hoping that saving Green Team would make him and Proton look better. Petrel had already spoken with Max privately, telling him he wanted Yellow for himself. If only there was a way to get rid of the freak...

"Ah, I get it. I guess I jus' never worried about anythin' like that, always thought I could take whatever shit life threw at me."

"Well, there's only so much you can take from my previous life before it starts getting too hard to show your face in polite society and all."

She did a double-take on the Koffing being introduced to the room and the persistent stench that came with it.

"Well, guess the Gr-whoever owns this house isn't going to have a good time when we leave this place, huh?"

"Ah, one of THOSE assholes, eh? Welp, best way'ta deal with a fuck like that is'ta either ignore'em or fight fire with fire."

"I prefer to fight it with water myself, super-effective weaknesses and all, all fire does is burn and adding more to it doesn't do anything but make the fire bigger."

"Well, there's only so much you can take from my previous life before it starts getting too hard to show your face in polite society and all."

Caid "pffft"'d loudly at that phrase and snickered a bit.

"Yer in th' Rockets an' talkin'ta ME right now. What polite society?"

She gave her Koffing a little hug after seeing how Leels reacted to it, apparently mistaking her double take at the smell to be of unease.

"It's alright, she ain't gonna hurt'ya."

"Well, guess the Gr-whoever owns this house isn't going to have a good time when we leave this place, huh?"

Caid scanned the room around them, making note of all the overturned objects, as well as the broken and used ones.

"No kiddin'?"

"I prefer to fight it with water myself, super-effective weaknesses and all, all fire does is burn and adding more to it doesn't do anything but make the fire bigger."

"Oh hard-e-har-har...Ya know what I fukkin' meant. Sometimes that fire jus' needs'ta burn so bright, it sucks up all th' air an' puts itself out. Plus water's got all sorts'a weaknesses."

At that, she gave her lonely Magnemite a little pat too, it closing it's eye in joy.

Dirk took the hint from the glaring. "Sir." he dipped his head and left quick as he could. If Alex didn't mind the prospect of getting caught off gaurd, then so be it. Hopefully he'd get demoted if they did.

He made a mental note to not talk to him again unless absolutely necessary. He wished for the day where he wouldn't have to kowtow to assholes like that. This was just a compromise for not working alone anymore.

Retrieving the papers, he found a (relatively) empty room and went to sleep, clothes on and with all his possesions. Honour among thieves was just about the dumbest thing he'd ever heard and he wasn't risking anyone nicking his stuff.

Still sullen from the death of his pokemon Scott was almost in a trance. Wondering the dim halls of the mansion, and not really knowing what he was looking for in a room. He wasn't hungry but he was extremely tired. His skin and clothes blackened from soot and smoke.Scott found an empty washroom and went inside. It was a huge room, marble across the entire floor and marble steps leading a large bathtub, a separate shower was located on the other side of the room next to the toilet. A marble sink and large mirror to the left. Scott locked the door and looked in the mirror.

Most of his face was purple, his left cheek split and covered in dried blood. His left eye almost swollen shut and his lip fat. Scott ran the water hot and washed his hands then his face. He turned and filled the bathtub with hot water and put in some soap. Scott striped down naked and tossed all his dirty clothes in the jacuzzi. The water started to turn a dark brown almost instantly and then he turned on the jacuzzi jets. The white water churned with the now black water. Scott, naked and covered in soot, sat down on the steps staring his three remaining pokeballs lying on the floor. A Poliwag, Zubat, and some mystery pokemon lay on the cold floor.

***

After about an hour of sitting on the frigid steps Scott stood up and removed his now moderately clean clothes ringed them out and draped them over various places in the bathroom, he then moved over to the shower and turned it on. The hot water poured over his head and body, for a short while he just stood in the shower. Once he was cleaned up he left the shower and dried off with a towel. Realizing he hadn't a place to sleep Scott wrapped the towel around his waist and ventured out into the mansion.

Walking around in his towel with wet clothes draped over his arm for about twenty minutes he finally came across an empty room. It was small, looking like it may be one of the servants rooms Scott moved right in. Scott hung his wet clothes on a coat rack and looked around the room some more. There was a small single bed and a desk with a chair. Scott took the chair and propped it against the door handle jamming it. After hanging up his towel and placing his pokeball belt on the desk he walked over to the window. The morning sun poured in and Scott could see a field off to the east. As he was gazing out the window he could hear what sounded like Alex yelling orders down the hall. Ignoring them he closed the drapes making the room a dim resting place. Clothes drying Scott climbed into the bed in his birthday suit and fell asleep almost instantly.

"Yer in th' Rockets an' talkin'ta ME right now. What polite society?"

"the kind that if they know your face, can send some pretty nasty people after you. The kind of society that the word polite is just the first layer of it. The kind of society each and every one of these servants work for.

"The people here have connections to guys more violent than Alex, and who're much better at their job. The Rangers are the nicer of the bunch, the ones taking the lighter jobs for the government. Then there's the freelancers, not a lot of them so far as I know, but there's a reason there's so few known."

She looked around, and found a place to lay her head, a throwback chair in a corner, where she laid down and pulled her hat off, letting her hair fall down.

"Sorry about the grimdark stuff, but these people aren't as defenseless as you'd think, at least not until after you leave. Guess I'm sleeping in here tonight, my clothes already smell like your Koffing's gases anyways."

Looking around, there seemed to be plenty of other chairs around, so she wasn't worried about taking Caid's place, Rainy seemed to have already done that judging from the look she shot him a moment before when he curled up on the couch. Machoke of course followed her over and sat down crosslegged on a rug she pulled over by Leela's left side, blocking the view from the doorway.

"...Yeah, that's true...ya never know if yer gonna get a hitman or anything' after ya."

She rubbed the back of her neck a little and watched as Leela claimed a nearby chair, and her pokemon fast asleep on her spot in the couch.

"Guess I'm sleeping in here tonight, my clothes already smell like your Koffing's gasses anyway."

"Heh, yeah, true. I don't let 'er out that much anymore, guess she jus' wanted some release."

Caid grabbed a seat on another couch nearby and stripped off her jacket, using it as a blanket, her Ekans coiling up on her chest and her other two teammates landing nearby.

"Welp, the more th' merrier, I guess! G'nite, or whatever."

With that, Caid pulled down her bandanna and almost immediately began snoring loudly.

One by one the grunts fell asleep. Those who stayed up the latest were too drunk to realize just how hard the march the next night would be and they passed out on the fine carpets of the mansion.

Max rose early, as he usually did. It was best to get a jump on the night. He had a bit of a wine hangover but he shrugged off the headache and jumped into the pool. It must be nice being so filthy rich... He finally forced himself to get out of the pool and dry off. He kind of doubted Alex would be awake, the lazy bastard always liked to make Max organize the men. He dressed quickly and rolled up his sleeping bag.

"It beats sleeping out in the fields." commented Max as he opened the door. He came upon the main hall and found snoring grunts strewn around lazily. Taking the opportunity to look around, he snatched some loot from the oblivious grunts for himself.

A gold watch, some fancy jewelry and some paintings... Without a word Max picked up a Pokecapsule, scribbled a note that said it was his find and made the loot vanish along with his note. He wandered into the kitchen to see if there was any food left.

You're one of my tools now, don't you forget it.

Ellie limped down the hall. Humiliation and embarrassment were something she'd given up a long time ago. Now instead there was nothing. Did she regret staying in the room? No. She couldn't second guess him. She shouldn't second guess him. Her leg hurt. Her clothes were disheveled. There was no one outside when she left, no one saw her. If anyone asked, the bruise was from falling out of bed. The rest were hidden. Her arms. Her legs. No one would notice them. She nervously tugged on her sleeves, afraid they would slip. Her trembling hands lit another cigarette.

She made a beeline to the servant area. The best thing about this house? She had all the resources at her disposal. She took off her rocket jacket and pants, dumping them in the washing machine.
Wash
Cold
Delicate
The machine started without a fuss. It was ironic that the worst she had done so far at the mansion was waste water. Meanwhile, she wandered around the wing. There weren't as many Rockets there, since the servants' rooms, and even the ones that were there seemed to have fallen asleep. They had already ate all of the ready made food it seemed. But that was the good part about rich houses. There were plenty of supplies. She took out some meat and sliced it. Cooking had been one of her chores before. It was good for a servant to know how to cook. Another good thing was that the smell from the soup wouldn't go to where majority of the members were. She wasn't about to cook for 50 people. Unless that's what the Commander wanted.

Mayu woke up after getting a nice and long nap in a comfortable bed. It was definitely nice and soft, something that she actually missed from her old life. She was a Rocket now though, and she would have to get used to the hard ground. Or at least the air mattresses of their tents. Shrugging a little bit, she opened her eyes and pouted. It seemed like the kid had gone down for a nap as well, and was hugging onto her tight. Looking at the guard, it seemed to be a different person as they likely changed shifts to get equal rest. He was grinning at her, which only caused her to blush heavily before squirming out of the boys grip.

Now free, she got her shoes back on and said to the guard in a whisper. "D-don't speak about this to anyone or...I'll do something..eventually." She wasn't good at threats just yet when it came to adults. All kids hated and feared spankings, but adults were more complicated. Gathering her loot and putting on her feathery hat, she exited the room and made for the main entrance. She was hoping to give her valuables to Max again, to show him what a good job she had done. She hoped he would allow her to keep the hat. It was growing on her.
