Wex had hardly gotten over his anxiety over his back when Ellie burst out of the tower covered in... blood? The horrible visions the ghosts had implanted in his mind started screaming again and he reflexively hugged Addison.

"What are you doing?" she asked, still watching Ellie walk towards the center.

Man up... Man up!

"Sorry, I was just.... feeling dizzy."

* * * * *

It was a Charizard. A motherfucking Charizard. Silently, it spread its wings and flew south. Max was left standing, watching it disappear past a rocky ridge.

"...well shit." said Max, scratching his head. If he had any Pokeballs, he might have tried to catch the thing. Shrugging, he went around to the groups of Rockets. Word of the events of the tower had already circulated before he got to the blockades and he was bombarded with questions. Max answered none of them, just stating that he was in charge and showing the bat as proof.

Nothing else really had to be said. The grunts knew he was tough. Max let their imaginations run wild as to how it all went down.

It doesn't matter really... I'm one step closer to true power. True recognition!

The rising sun led to a rotation of sentries. With the tower taken care of and the officers in their custody, Max had given the grunts permission to finish the looting. For a tiny coastal village, it sure had some neat trinkets. Nobody went back into the tower though. Ones who ventured in typically came back out silent, shocked beyond belief.

Then the Rocket's found a distillery in a basement.

The day stretched on hour by hour and soon the Rockets, one way or another, were intoxicated. Max had tried to resist at first but the stresses of the previous night's activities caught up to him. Soon he was in the middle of them.

"Myy men... Come on, knock me over. Don't just stand there, knock me over!"

One grunt charged him, Max flipped him over effortlessly. Boris tried to grab him but he swung around to the left and delivered an uppercut that staggered the giant. After a good number of rockets piled onto him, he let a laugh escape his lips.

"It's over boys... We made it! Lavander is ours, Alex is dead and we'll get to keep most of this loot, I'm sure of it!"

I probably shouldn't be drinking so much but.... What the hell!

Addison wasn't exactly expecting either the hug or the sight of Ellie covered in blood but on the upside, it sure didn't look like it was hers and a hug was better than...well, whatever had happened to those poor bastards who fell behind.

Still, she still wasn't entirely convinced that Wex wasn't that badly hurt, but a decent compromise occured to her whilst patching up the arm he'd allowed her to.

"Okay tough guy, far be it for me to look all sentimental, but you did save our asses back there, so let me give you something for the trouble."

Digging around in her bag, she removed a small unmarked plastic container. You could almost close a fist around it and hide it entirely from view if so inclined. Or you could probably do that even so with large hands.

"This little beauty is kind of a pain relief balm. My own recipe, brewed up with stun spore extract taken from my Gloom, diluted a little and mixed with some other stuff." She grinned with a small measure of pride. "Don't worry," She added, noting his expression when the active ingredient was mentioned. "It won't hurt you. It'll just numb the nerves in the area. Good if you've got something that aches or you need to take the bite out of a wound while it heals up or something."

She smiled. "Just don't go using too much of it at once. It's potent enough that you only need a little at a time. Get too generous with the stuff and you run the risk of...well, not paralysis. Not that I've seen, but I've had test subjects get some motor control issues in the area when they've smeared a whole lot on. Nothing permanent, it still wears off after a while, but you know, don't go slathering it thick on your leg and then trying to climb a bunch of stairs unless you're an idiot.

"Just keep it anyway, just in case you...find any wounds you didn't notice or forgot to mention. I can make another batch once I extract enough spores from Misery and we get somewhere with a decent lab set up."

She frowned. "And speaking of my gloomy lab assistant, I really ought to go sort her and the gas bag out and replenish our medical supplies. I'll catch you later."

She turned on her heel and walked off to liberate some more supplies from the centre, get her minions treated and also, when need be, patch up the odd yellow grunt here and there. She kept her distance from the green officers and their beatdown though. Right now, she intended to generate as much goodwill towards her among the yellow squad as possible.

Green was finished. Or as good as. They were going to be consigned to the garbage heap or worse and "Professor" Addison Stanwick did not intend to go down with that ship. No, before the rockets left Lavender, she was very intent on getting an impromptu transfer to Yellow team.

The night wore on and Addison was content to sit back and watch the yellows and their makeshift brawl. Largely she was keeping an eye on Max. The last thing she needed was for him to do himself damage. His fight with Alex had involved serious wounds and she needed him for the stability of both yellow and her continued career. She'd done her best to exhibit her value, granted, but she'd be lying if she said she wasn't nervous.

Taking a swig of some wine liberated from...gods know where. One of the houses probably, Addison laid back, very drowsy, slightly tense and just a little tipsy, doing her best reassure herself that it was going to work out. And considering she'd made it out of the tower, she could almost believe that.

Wex stumbled around after applying the... whatever the hell Addison had given him onto his back. It made him feel weird. It made him feel sick. It made him feel happy.

He hated it.

"I mustbehavingabadreaction! I must bee!"

He walked into a group of Grunts playing poker and had his ass whooped. Crawling over to the Pokemon center, he ended up getting treated by a nurse. Thankfully, they wouldn't know about the tattoo. He was released in a matter of hours, feeling much better and sat down at a table in the center to eat.

"Hello again." said a voice.

It was Ellie. He hadn't seen her since the escape.

"...hi..."

* * * * * * * * * * *

Max sent off a zubat from one of the messengers. He ordered a group of Yellow grunts to move the green officers to the countryside for safety's sake. Then he made his way to an unoccuipied house to claim for himself. He was entirely too tired to keep partying.

Passing a blackened dog house on his way into it, Max lay down on a ruined couch and closed his eyes. Tomorrow he would leave his mark on the town.

* * * * * * * * * * * *

Mr. Fuji shivered in the cave as the waves pounded against the coastline. A cold wind was moving in. At last, he came.

"Blaine! Oh thank goodness... You won't believe what those Rockets have done!"

"A friend of yours helped me leave my gym, said you would need my help but that if I traveled by air I would alert your attackers." said the bald gym leader, entering the cave with a glowing Magmar behind him.

"They killed my Magmar... I'm sorry."

The Magmar growled in rage.

"If only I had been younger. If only I hadn't tried to forsake viole..."

"It's not your fault friend. I have sent messages to the other gym leaders. We will be having a meeting soon enough."

"And Lavander?"

"The storm will make approaching it too hard. The boardwalk might break while I try to sneak up on them. Let them have another day, let them get comfortable. I promise you, I won't be gentle when I do get my hands on them." he said darkly. Behind Blaine his Charizard snorted. No riddles this time.

* * * * * * * * *

Giovanni read the message and found himself conflicted on how to interpret it. Alex was dead but the objective of recapturing Green was met. The town was being stripped of every valuable and was going to be sent back in the morning. But... the Charizard was most troubling. Not only that but Max had failed to mention Mr. Fuji at all. The heart and soul of the town was still alive.

"Proton, do you think you could join up with Yellow for a bit? I think they will need some additional leadership soon."

"Boss... you wanted me to..."

"Yes, yes... Of course. After you've had your 'conversation' with that foolish Sliph Co employee. Preparations for Saffron must come first..."

Proton left the room, climbing up to the higher levels of the Rocket HQ. Giovanni stared at his map and studied it. Red was busy funding the organization with raids and finding out more about Mt. Moon. Blue was needed for security in the south. Green and Yellow were, unfortunately, his only free teams after business in Lavander was taken care of.

"If only I had more reliable men..." he said, petting his Persian thoughtfully.

Everything was really calm and... nice. Ellie twirled her plastic fork in her cup of instant noodles. It was all the Center had, and she wasn't in the mood to go looking for anything else. She stared at the mix of bland colors.

She looked up when Wex entered the room. Such a pussy and yet he was the one who got them out of the tower. She pulled out Scott's half empty pack of cigs and lit up. She turned to him and blew smoke in his face. "Hello again."
He mumbled a hello in reply.
"Pretty impressive what you did in the tower."

"I... uh... thanks." he said, staring down at his own noodles.

Wex considered asking about the blood but thought it would be a stupid move. Instead he merely said:

"We had a tough time getting out huh? I wonder what the hell all those ghosts were about..."

"I heard stories about the ghosts before. A long time ago." She put her cup down, drumming her thumbs on the table. "About zombie pokemon. Ghost pokemon. Didn't think it was true. The first part anyways. Glad we're out of THAT fucking tower though. Kinda lucky you came when you did. Speaking of which..."

Quick as Quick Attack Ellie shoved her hand into one of Wex's suspiciously bulging pockets. Instead of a potentially awkward moment, her hand came out with a glowing piece of rock. "Oh, wow, it's kinda pretty." She held it up to the light, out of his reach, holding Wex back with her other hand on his chest. "Just let me look at it for a second, wimp. Sheesh. Don't get your panties in a bunch."

Wex tried to get it back but it was obvious she wasn't going to let him.

"That's my lucky charm now. Please give it back. I went through a lot and that's... a keepsake."

If it keeps demon Pokemon away, I might like to keep it around for later.

"Lucky charm? Wow, did they take your balls while you were gone?" she sneered, tossing it on the table but keeping her hand on top of it. "I doubt it'll help. Some little trinket ain't gonna save your ass at the end of the day." She sat back down, grinning. "So where'd'ya get it?"

"Didn't you see the light? This thing made it." he stared at her curiously.

"Didn't you hear the ghosts? I did. If I close my eyes..."

His hand darted out with the speed of a thief, wrenching it out from under her hand.

"We got the stupid Green officers. That's all that matters."

She snickered. "A little light isn't going to stop this." She held up her fist when he snatched the rock. She laughed, and leaned back in her chair, blowing out another cloud of smoke.

Ghosts... "Yeah, I might have heard one or two things. What did you hear?"

"I heard a lot of them telling me about how they died. How they wanted me to die... Did you hear them too? Or maybe that tower just got to me. I could have sworn the Pokemon we saw in that one level were... unnatural."

Maybe I was so scared I was seeing things...

Having dozed off after her drink, Addison awoke later, considerably better rested than the last time she'd slept. There were a few minor things to take care of. As expected there were 1 or 2 grunts to patch up a little, because there was usually a fight of some manner or other during a break. Fighting wasn't exactly her idea of fun for the most part, but if goons were bopping eachother upside the head, then it usually meant they wouldn't be in her way. The last thing she needed, bitterly remembering the druglab bust, was idiots barging in on things they didn't need to.

What she did need on the other hand, was some breakfast. Heading across the to the centre, she set about getting herself some of the noodles her colleagues were already devouring.

Noting a couple of familier faces at a nearby table, she walked over to join Wex and Ellie.

"Hey. How're you two doing?" She decided that it might not be a good idea to mention the incident in which Ellie was covered in blood. While waiting for a response she got started on her noodles. They weren't great but it was her first meal for a day or so, so if she wasn't speaking, she was going to eat.

Ellie only snorted in response to the Green Rocket's greeting. "You're... that Green girl." She couldn't put a finger on her name, but then again she wasn't trying hard to remember. She put her feet up on the table, kicking what was left of Wex's ramen onto his lap without blinking.

She gave the girl a closer look without her drug induced paranoia. She wasn't a Rocket. She was a scientist. It didn't make her any less dangerous... if she had an opening. She would probably fight underhandedly, but it wasn't anything anyone else couldn't do without the same equipment. This woman wasn't someone to count on in a fight. "So what's your deal? You look like a nerd. This isn't exactly your place sunshine." Ellie sneered, cracking her knuckles.

Addison was torn between amusement and vague annoyance at Ellie's response, leaning towards the former.

"Yeah that's me. Green girl. Nerd. Got it in one." She smirked, downing a bit of the ramen before continuing. "You're right if you think I'd rather be in a lab somewhere, but they don't just hand those postings out to anyone. So for now, field work. Samples, drugs, putting people back together some if they go all humpty-dumpty and the usual grunt stuff."

She pulled one side of the labcoat open to better reveal the grunt uniform underneath it. "I didn't sign up just yesterday either you know." she added wryly, noting Ellie cracking her knuckles. "If you honestly know ANYONE who could join up and spend any real amount of time in the field without learning their way around a fight then I'm amazed."

"And it's Addison. But Sunshine will do if you prefer. I don't much care either way." She gave a quick smile and set about finishing off her ramen before it went the way of Wex's."

Wex was used to being treated like dirt. The ramen stank anyway. Ignoring Ellie, he turned to Addison.

"So, did you see the ghosts? Did you hear them? I'm still trying to convince myself it was a bad dream but... we went into the tower. That can't be denied..."

He cleaned up his pants with a napkin.

"I hate this town."

Addison put the ramen down and rubbed her temples, frowning. "I would love to say no to both those questions, but if I didn't see the things that were back there I'd probably be like those other poor saps who didn't run fast enough to get out of there."

She shrugged. "Logically it doesn't make a lot of sense. The data we have on hand though? It shits all over logic. Even damn psychics are down to, supposedly, some kind of brain abnormality. These things I don't even know where to start. Are they vapour? Gas? More psychic things with some kind of mass hallucination thing going on? I don't know."

She made a face, as if thinking about it had made the aftertaste of the ramen worse. "And you know what? Right now, I'm happy enough to not try figuring it out for a good long while."

"If you can try to forget about it that easily, go ahead. I... I just don't know anything anymore."

Wex got up and turned to Addison.

"That stuff you gave me earlier... It doesn't really work well with me. Between the shitty ramen and your... goop. I might just go lie down for a bit."

He walked a few paces away before throwing up his guts onto the floor. Continuing on as if nothing had happened, he lay on one of the Pokemon center's couches and promptly passed out. A nurse came nervously to clean up the mess, glancing nervously at Addison and Ellie.

* * * * * * *

The knock at the door had Max up at his feet instantly.

"Yes?"

"Rocket Roger reporting from Celadon sir!"

"Enter."

The rocket came in, closing the door behind him.

"Petrel sends his regards Commander Max. I've been tasked with getting the loot out of town."

"Speak with the men by the store. Go away." grunted Max, easing back into the bed he had taken for himself.

"Sir... Petrel had more than just his regards to send you." He lowered his voice.

"Petrel said to get your men out fast. He has bad feelings about the operation. Something about a gym leader. That's all he knows. Just get out of here soon. He needs Yellow Team. You have official authority over Green too for the moment."

Max propped up his pillow, waving his arm at him to leave.

"Tell Petrel I'm still his. That's what you're here to confirm, right? Go."

The grunt left in a hurry to get the loot in order.

Now I have to survive Proton...

"No problem. Thanks for the feedback." As he walked away she removed her notebook from her labcoat's pocket and made a little note in it on the page detailing the experimental salve she'd given Wex. The note reading,

"Adverse reaction-Nausea. Refinement needed."

She closed the notebook and slipped it back into her pocket and shrugged. "Win some, lose some."

Swallowing the last of the ramen, Addison got up from the table. "Think I'll got replenish my supplies...And maybe find a glass of water." She added as an afterthought. "Seeya round."

Addison wandered off into the back rooms of the centre to refill the contents of her first aid kit...and menace the odd nurse she ran into just for funsies.

"I'm in team rocket now, why does it feel like nothings changed?" Derek thought to himself.

Derek walked down the road, the morning sun shining over everything. It would be a relaxing scene to others but to him it was only boring. He had been traveling for so long that he became accustomed to these types of scenes. He yearned for something more, so he joined team rocket. Yet even after joining team rocket nothing has changed. His stomach started to growl, he hadn't eaten in a few hours.

"Damn, I need food but I don't have any money. I need to find a victim and get some money quick."

Continuing down the road he noticed that there was a distinct lack of people. While that in itself wasn't strange, it was just the fact that he has yet to see a person for a good while.

"Hmm this is odd, something must have gone on here. Hope I'll be able to find some food in this town."

Derek made his way down to the city and has yet to see a single other person. Coming up on a pokemart he decided to try his hand there and see if he could find anyone. Once inside he saw a man passed out on one of the couches with a nurse cleaning up what looked like puke. The nurse was shooting glances at two other females across the room.

"Not my first choice of a target but let's see if I can persuade the sick looking kid to get me food. I just hope that the other two won't interfere, that could make things more difficult."

Walking over to where the man on the couch was, he took a quick glance at the nurse. She seemed to be afraid of him and quickly scurried off. "Odd, I'm not that scary." derek thought to himself. He then shook the guys shoulders a little to wake him up. He slowly opened his eyes and derek shot him his award winning smile.

"Well hello there boyo, you look a little under the weather. Is there anything a traveling psychic such as myself can help you with?"

Wex opened his eyes a crack. A Green Team member. Odd that he wasn't skalking about, trying to be unnoticed.

"Can you ward off ghosts?" he said, half joking.

I have had enough phychic experiences to last me a lifetime. If you start to mess with my brain...
