If I absolutely insisted on a remake of any game? Final Fantasy 6, with 3D modelling. Final Fantasy 7 would also be awesome, but I'd like to see 6 made more.

I do not count Shattered Memories as a remake. Mainly because they changed nearly everything.
If they would remake SH simply graphics wise but keep all of the characters/plot-points as they were.

I'm gonna be a stupid purist and suggest that devs should spend more time making new games, not remakes that will never be as good as the original.

I'm gonna second this. Although there have been some good remakes.
I suppose if I was going to pick a game or games to be remade I'd go with Fallout & Fallout 2 remade with the Fallout 3 engine. I always thought those games would be awesome as FPSRPGs long before Fallout 3 came out.

I hate to give a one word answer but: this.

If any game was to be remade it wouldn't just be the graphics and voice acting that would be improved, which I think is what everybody would want.

The game devs would want to "improve" the thing that made you like the game in the first place and they would fail, tarnishing the originals (in atleast your opinion) great image/name.

I myself would like to see Final Fantasy 7 redone loved that game all of the ones after just fell a bit short for me.

This choice just ruined this entire thread for me.. The reason FF7 sucks is because of fanboys like this!(EVERYONE PLEASE TAKE A EXAMPLE FROM THIS POOR FOOL) Squenix survives off the tears of FF7 fanboys.. The only reason they still exist today is because of that.. And you honestly think they will give you FANBOYS what you want? HELL NO! They will milk you until theres not a drop left! (SEE SONIC FANBOYS) Sonic people are starting to feel the affects of the loss of the past almost 20 years by waiting for a "Good" Sonic game to come out.. Same way Duke Nukem fans have been feeling the effects of DNF! In time FF7, in time you will realize what i have said here.. But there is just no way to show you without you being ignorant fanboys and completely blowing me off.. Oh well.. At least i tried..
