I, for one, welcome our new Sith overlords.

If demanded, I will gleefully participated in the thorough destruction of anything "Expanded Universe."

(Also, the prequels weren't great, but neither was the OT. Lots of cringe-worthy dialogue/story telling in those movies, too.)

No. Nothing has ever made me rage for more then a while. I'd hazard no more then like a month before I can get over anything. Stuff just doesn't bother me. Even if it does, adding something new doesn't ruin what existed and what I liked, only what may come to be.

I don't want to dwell on things either but the fact remains that the fans of Star Wars still contain the same group of people who are still raging. Judging from there past behavior, I bear little hope for the future. However, I am interested in how this franchise will play out in popular culture and seeing how it ends. Fan culture on its current level is relatively new development in human history and nobody is quiet sure how these things evolve and die.

Man, in a way I kinda feel bad for you. I know it doesn't make sense, and it's probably just a tell of your maturity, but never getting worked up over shit that doesn't matter feels (see: Truthiness) like you never cared THAT much about it in the first place.

I agree that there are still a few basement-dwelling troglodytes who care about Phantom but I don't think that's the majority. I'm afraid that new fans who grow-up with these new flicks might be shunned or outcast for being "posers" or some dumb shit, probably by the aforementioned troglodytes. Ask a kid (12 or under) who likes Star Wars (and has seen all 6) which his favorite is. He'll probably say Phantom.

And yes. Watching fandom play out from an Anthropological and Sociological perspective makes shit very interesting.
