I finally looked up the medical name for what I've always done today, and I have discovered that I am called an "ideopathic toe-walker".

Meaning: I walk on my toes and no one knows why. There's no medical reason; my Achille's tendons aren't too short and I don't have autism or cerebral palsy. I just tip-toe. Even when I walk heel-toe, I tend to put all my weight on the balls of my feet. Even when wearing high heels. I can look at the bottoms of my shoes and see that the toes are worn down while the heels aren't.

I know I'm not the only one on this forum who tip-toes! It's a fairly common occurence (though it's usually gone by the time you're my age, 19). Come forward and be recognized!

Is it because you were a short kid and tried to compensate? It's a real suggestion.

Not me, but I had a friend who had that. He once broke something in his feet because of it. Missed much of 3 grade recess because of it

I always do it. Unless I'm standing still, only the front part of my foot touches the ground.

Faster movement, more balance and more comfortable.

I'm autistic and I don't walk on my tiptoes. In fact, most of the people in my autism group don't walk on tiptoes. Please don't blanket statement (this is meant as a respectful request).

I tip toe when I walk around the house. I even run on my toes if I'm going to the bathroom.
In the street, however, I walk normally.

When I'm not wearing shoes I walk on my toes, especially if I'm running, but that might have something to do with being flat-footed and some kind of adaption that I did when I was a kid. I don't know, but I run like the wind...

I'll do it occasionally if I'm in socks or bare feet, but not all the time. Good to know I'm not alone in my toe-walking.

I walk toe-heel in socks or barefoot but heel-toe in shoes. I don't know if that's the same thing or not. The heels and balls of my shoes are pretty evenly worn.

My cousin did this, I think. Always remember laughing in advance at all the sexual slurs he was going to get from his peers at school ^^

My ex-girlfriend/best friend of about 12 years does it... I only do it when I'm running, I can get more power if my feet are at that angle.
