what things are just not interesting in games anymore, anything you are sick of seeing in games?

here's a few that i could think of

fetch quests
escort quests
tutorials that stop the game to tell you how to play.
stealth missions
invisible walls
power armoured space marines (btw, who's looking forward to space marine?)
qte's
pointless slow mo sequences
emotion problems in characters
killing small animals in rpg's
killing small animals in any other genre
sewer levels
tiny writing
SAVE POINTS
brown and grey
pointless collectables
collectables to find achievements
dodgy voice acting
americans being the great riteous victors
infinately spawning enemies
dodgey motion sensing

arguable-
non regenerating health, it kills the game if you either cannot do anything because you dont have enough health or if you have to stop and search for some health pack.

any others?

I agree with everything you said except health bars. They have their place, usually in slower paced, exploration heavy games.

Anyway, Escort Missions need to die in a fire. The best of them are tolerable at best.

And what's wrong with health bars?

And they already have a list of Console RPG cliches at TV Tropes, 192 items I believe.

The games which use capital letters. God, I hate those letters. I mean, why would you hold down shift before a random letter?
I must admit, grammar comes in second - used WAY too much!

QTE. I'm sure I'm not the only one to think of this but STE (Slow Time Events). It's going to be in some new game I think. Just slow down the game to a crawl and allow the person to do a dodge roll instead of hitting X. MAX PAYNE 3!!!! I Just remembered! THAT'S the game that's going to do something like that!

Max Payne deserves to use Slow-Mo, especially after implementing it so well.

That's really weird, because Kung Fu Panda has both. And I wish the QTEs didn't exist... they ruined my achievement...

They are using slow-mo, but in cases where it's like Max slides down a roof on a cookie sheet and starts killing people then jumps into a helicopter they are using a SUPER Slow-Mo like I described.

Oh, that sounds cool, I haven't played Kung-Fu Panda, but I'm glad SOMEONE got it right.

I just checked that out. This one is so true:
"#190. Weapon Rule: There's always a hidden creature who is much harder to defeat than even the ultimate bad guy's final, world-annihilating form. It's lucky for all concerned that this hidden creature prefers to stay hidden rather than trying to take over the world himself, because he'd probably win. As a corollary, whatever reward you get for killing the hidden creature is basically worthless because by the time you're powerful enough to defeat him, you don't need it any more."

I'm sick of seeing the brooding male protagonist who has a lot of emotional problems.

sewer levels, hate them! newer been fun in any game but they still put one or too in alot of games. the only good thing whit them are the feeling you get when you completed it.

and if you can switch between hd or non hd why dont they make the game so you can read the text when you dont have a hdttv???? realy annoying when you have to gess what to do in a misson or whatnot!! now I have to get a hdtv just so I can read the story or whatever

escort missions whit suicidal caracters
"friends" or sidekicks who always gets in the way when your shooting

I have to agree on the health bars its so nice that you dont get stuck on som boss whit no healt and have too look for som healthpacks.

Regenerating health. It takes away any challenge if you can just run away from a fight and hide in a corner for a while, waiting for those red edges to disappear from your screen. Especially in games with a realistically represented world like CoD, it just sucks away all the realism. Games like Xmen Origins: Wolverine have it too, but I don't mind it because it actually has a good reason to have regenerating health nor does it try to be realistic.

The use of gunmetal grey and dirt brown as the only two colors in a game. Because evidently real=brown. At least some games like Fallout 3 and Far Cry 2 have a reason to look like that, but most don't.

Save points. Some have it in the form of some device/spot like in JRPGs. Some only save on ingame checkpoints. Some only let you save inbetween chapter/mission/whatever. Why can't they let you save wherever you want? Really, the only console games I have that let you do that are the Orange Box, Bioshock and Fallout 3. It can't be that hard, can it?
