Now this is really what I want to know.

Would it be possible for me to find a band of these Mirklarks and get them to follow (or more realisticly chase) me into a settlement, where they will then kill everything that moves much to my delight?

I don't see why you couldn't train a mob into a town... but you don't get any minions I think.

Hmm. There is a perk that relates to animals here let me quote it from the Manuel.

Level 10: Animal Freind
At the first rank of this perk, animals simply won't attack you. At the second they will come to your aid in combat but never against another animal. Dog, Yao Guai, Mole Rat, And brahmin.

To your question, Perhaps but they might get tired of chasing you before you can reach a settlement.

Ants that breath fire= EPIC WIN!

After playing this, while there are things in this game that play and feel alot like Obivion, but there are alot more things that set it appart, by not being able to fast travel to areas without having walking there yourself first for one.

But it would be entirely possible for me to just run around the wasteland, slowly getting more and more of them to chase me, and then head into town?

If so, I am buying this game.

I did this in Oblivion with mudcrabs, but there were a few problems

1) Mudcrabs are somewhat weak
2) Guards started following me and killing my minions.
3) I could only go to small villages, as the towns themselves were beyond the reach of the crabs.

But I did manage to get a small band (twelve was the most I had at one point, but then a guard came and killed four of them) to one of the small villages on the western side of the imperial city. Much carnage was had, I laughed.

The guards would probably make quick work of those.
Nah. These aren't mudcrabs. 5 of these could kill a guard so fast he woudn't be able to kill one.

Oh oh, if you get the pc version you can just spawn 100 of those crabs using the \console.
On 360... I'll just have to do it the hard manly way.

you will like this game in direct porportion to how much you liked oblivion.

if you liked oblivion a huggy bunch, you'll find that they fixed a lot of things that were wrong with oblivion's system

if you thought Oblivion was garbage, you probably won't care for this game.

if this game had Oblivions levelling system, I would have returned it to the store, but it doesn't, and I like the fallout feel (although it seems tacked on top of oblivion's core gameplay), so I'm playing it right now.

As someone who played Oblivion to death...2000+ hours and 20000+ manual saves on the save counter...I must say this as many others have: "Oblivion with guns" and a less abuse friendly leveling system.

less abuse friendly leveling system.
For someone who's somewhat concerned about the levelling+scaling system of Oblivion carrying over to Fallout 3, could you elaborate on what it's like and whether it's better/worse?

It feels like Oblivion, in terms of movement and interaction with the environment. Conversations are a bit more interesting due to better lip-syncing and animation, but still pretty stiff. The real-time gunplay is absolute shit but somehow still enjoyable when combined with V.A.T.S. (which is fairly good). The role-playing elements are very strong and have a major effect on how you play the game, and can open up entirely new quest options and avenues for you; there's no way you can be a master at everything, and even then only maybe one or two at most. There is almost no enemy scaling (there's nothing preventing you from finding weak enemies later in the game, though there might be slightly fewer of them) and the game has no qualms with handing your ass to you when you wander into the wrong place at the wrong time. The atmosphere can be incredible at times, though isn't always entirely bleak. The game is very much Oblivion in a new skin, but with much more gameplay depth, a more interesting world, better dialogue, and a solid storyline and quests. It's not a "true" follow-up to Fallout, but it's still a damn good game.

Does that do it?

you have very little control over your attributes ocne you make your character

if you make a character with 6 agility (out of 10) for instance, it will PROBABLY have 6 agility the whole game (unless you find certain collectable items, like Bobbleheads)

your skills raise between 10 and 20 each level (those are estimate numbers, I'm sure with the right perks, and high int, you could probably have more then 20 per level)

each level you get perks, which have both level requirements, attribute requirements, and skill requirements.

These perks range from +5 melee and explosives, to "always kill people in the most gruesome manner", to "have the whole world explored", the last of which is a level 20 perk, so it's not broken.

the only thing the same is the skills being mainly meaningful in batches of 25 (for instance, to lockpick a Very Hard Lock, you need 100 lockpicking, and an Easy one requires 25) The skills are a lot more interesting, because they open up dialogue choices (if you have High Medicine, the doctor might tell you something special)

rambling on.

needless to say, the levelling system is much better, but you don't improve your skills directly by using them and your levels aren't tied to your skills

Well, no longer are stats up to 100. in fact, they go up to 10. You start with 5 in each and 7 left over to distribute at the beginning, but you can take from the other stats and lower them to 1, if you want an extreme stat focus. Skills level up by putting points into them, which you get when you level up. A higher INT means more skill points. They no longer level with use...So you can't easily becomes a level 100 in Sneak by standing in the corner of a house and holding up. But it does mean that you have to really choose how you want to play. You also gain perks when you level up, which are skills with constant effects or just skill boosts. It's not as good as Oblivion's level system, imo.
Oh, if you want to waste 10 levels worth of perks, you can add an extra 10 distributable stat points, but for the most parts, your stats are set in stone when you leave the Vault.

I happend to like Oblivion so I guess i'll like Fallout 3. But one question: If I get in a fight with 1 guard in the middle of no-where, will all the guards in the game instantley know about it?

Also, are enemies scaled as with Oblivion?

There generally aren't "guards", but no. Your misdeeds are limited by location, and if nobody witnesses crimes then you won't be called out on them, but doing bad things will still affect your karma, which will change the way people treat you in conversation and whatnot.

Enemies are scaled in some situations (if you get stuck in an area you can't leave through the way you came, for example) in order to make sure you don't get trapped anywhere, but out in the overworld, the enemies seem to vary mostly by location. There might be some minor scaling going on (hard to tell so far), but if there is I haven't noticed it, and have been killed by things much stronger than me on several occasions.
