To make friends happy, or to buy myself a kickass-looking game

I've been saving for a while now, and it's for gifts for friends of mine. Unfortunately, as you doods probably know, there's this kickass-looking Dark Souls board game on Kickstarter, [https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/steamforged/dark-soulstm-the-board-game] and I WANT IT.

As I've been saving for a while now, I have enough for the game, and several of the add-on packs. Should I take the slightly more morally sound route & resist the temptation?, or should I just decide "screw it, this game looks too awesome to pass up"?

P.S. to add as much info as possible, the gifts are the Fire Emblem Fates special edition artbook and a dual disc copy of Bayonetta 2 for this girl I like (It's not to get her to like me, I have no chance with her, I just want to make her happy), and another copy of the latter for my ex-girlfriend (whom I've been keeping contact with, and staying friends with for a while now). Before you ask, neither of them asked, or expect, me to get the stuff for them, I just wanted to make them happy.

I wouldn't suggest dropping money you've saved on a kickstarter. Just buy it when it's out if you want it.

That said, I wouldn't suggest you spend it on your not-girlfriends either. Buy yourself something cool. Instant gratification is where it's at.
Thing is that stretch goals usually only apply to backers right?, this may be my only chance to get the most out of this board game.

Board games on kickstarter like this have a bad tendency to be limited releases once the project is complete, and the price inflates.

Which isn't to say it's a good idea to Kickstart it, as there's always a chance for failure. Though I suppose, considering the franchise involved, completion is likely.

OT: I really want this game too, but I don't have an local friends to play with, and I'm hard pressed to pay 100+ bucks for it.

But OP, if you were saving the money for friends, spend it on friends. Bros and hoes before knick knacks and paddy whacks.

On one hand, I probably should. On the other hand, the gifts are a total value of $300 ($100 for the artbook on ebay, and $100 each for the games on Amazon).

...That's... a lot of money for people who, presumably, don't have a Birthday coming up and you aren't on romantic terms with.

If you have that much money, you can probably get the game and some gifts.

Personally I'd get gifts for friends but that sounds like a lot to spend on them if they're not particularly close friends and if it's apropos of nothing.

Well, as mentioned, I hope to get the Add On packs as well if I back the kickstarter (especially that badass looking figurine rendition of the Gaping Dragon). I have just under enough to get all of them in my savings (and I am including the potential Four Kings addon to that estimate).

The only reason why I chose those in particular is because they're long out of print (and to get them before their prices become especially bad). The artbook came with the special edition, and the copies of Bayo 2 in stores presently are single disc variants.

I've been limiting my food intake all day in order to save for those each day, so I'm wondering if I should continue as is, or just decide to stop.

Oh, yah. Weren't you the guy eating nothing but broccoli?

If you went through that, man, stick with it and carry through.

You're better off getting yourself a massive cake. All in favour say aye. Aye!
I've already had enough cake for a while, seeing as though my dad's birthday came the other day.

I actually switched to eating a single eggroll. Definitely more filling than broccoli, but at a similar price.

Did either of the girls say they'd like the gifts?
Yes, yes they have
Okay, so it's guaranteed it'll pay off if you buy the things for them. Since you even considered the option then you must be comfortable forking over $300. And if you really are, then buy the gifts.

Not sure what your reputation is but if I got a gift worth $100, my birthday isn't close, neither is Christmas and I'm not romantically involved in any way I'd feel pretty weird. Especially if I were a girl I'd think you'd like to start something. Of course that won't be the case for everyone but maybe they'll at least feel obligated to buy you a gift.

Which one do you think you will get a more kick at? Feeling good for making your friends happy cos you did something good or the guilty pleasure for enjoying your money will spent at the expense at not getting your friend gifts?

In saying so however, it will be a while til you get to feel the latter or settle with the first option?

I honestly don't know. On one hand, good feels good, and it's good to make your friends happy. On the other hand, I'm a greedy little bastard, and my materialistic side REALLY wants that Dark Souls board game.
