Looks like the general consensus may be to spend it on myself. If I decide to back the kickstarter, hopefully prototype impressions are accurate.

Either way, it's a good thing it can be played solitaire with rules similar to a multiplayer game (makes it relatively-easier to learn the rules, and I don't want to seem like a communist).

Although the consensus seems to be in, I'd agree that it would probably be a good idea to spend it on yourself and then get cheaper gifts for your friends.

I definitely can't speak for every girl on earth (nowhere close, actually) but I would feel pretty awkward if I received a gift as expensive as the ones you mentioned and it wasn't anywhere close to my birthday or some other gift-giving holiday. Again, my personal response to that kind of situation is nowhere close to being the same as how any other girl might react so it might be a good idea to think on how you think they would react since you know them better than some people over the internet.

Plus, if your friends are into Dark Souls then you could always invite one or both over to play the board game.

It also helps that it can be played solitaire.

Normally I'd advocate that you spend it on your friends, however considering 1) It's not any of their birthdays so there's no obligation to spend and 2) Board games have a horrible habit of being pretty expensive/hard to get I think this time I'd suggest you be selfish. After all, there's nothing stopping you from getting them something at a later date while it would suck if you missed out on a chance to get something you really wanted.

Got a point there, that kickass-looking Doom board game went out of print a while ago to be replaced with Descent I believe.
