GFWL isn't the end of the world, but its certainly annoying.
They should seriously look into Steamworks, both to prevent cheating, and piracy. Dark Souls is an awesome game, and we just don't want to see it get released with a substandard DRM, and one that requires a secondary account login aside from the digital distribution platform's account (Steam).
I personally, am going to buy Dark Souls regardless of GFWL or Steamworks. But, I would love to see FromSoftware listen to its fans and switch over to Steamworks.

My gaming set up cost around $5,000. I'm yet to see a beggar with that kind of money.
Was that suppose to impress me?

And LOL that you spent $5,000 on a gaming PC when you can build one that's just as good for a quarter of that.
Why would I need to impress you?

Contrary to popular (your) opinion, no one is out to impress you.
Then why did you feel the need to tell me about your $5,000 penis extension?

Just letting you know that we're not beggars. You seem to have the idea that PC gamers are the ones who rely on the industry, rather than the other way around.

Still doesn't explain why you suddenly felt the need to tell me about your rig and how much it cost.

Did you think by saying "beggars" I was insinuating that you were all poor or something?

Well yes, obviously. And the fact that you're saying that if you gave a beggar a cake with a turd in it and were refused, you're essentially calling the beggar entitled.

To be fair, if I offer a beggar a cake, then tell him that I'm going to mix some shit into the cake, he's well within his rights to say, 'actually, I'd prefer it if you didn't mix fecal matter into my cake' without being called entitled or dismissed as a whining nerd.

Basically, GFWL is a giant turd.
That and we aren't exactly begging. We are saying 'make dark souls for the Pc and we will give you money!' then they were like 'okay and lets use game for windows live' and now we are like 'no game for windows live if you want my money'
That simple? Oh wait, no. We asked Namco to bring it to the PC, they listened (mercifully) and are risking resources based on trust and we stab them in the back.

Who's begging? Who's the biggest dick? We are.

I'm planning to get this regardless because I want to play Dark Souls.

I didn't say that, someone else did. And I didn't respond because we're not talking about cake, we're talking about a video game.

My god, PC gamers better suck it up and buy the damn game, or I am going to cry. From Soft doesn't deserve this crap. They didn't have to make this game, but they did and if you don't want more developers to drop the PC, then you should buy the game. What TotalBiscuit is saying is exactly what needs to happen.

From Soft and Namco Bandai are trying to save time and money by keeping their net code. They aren't trying to be malicious, it is a compromise. They never planned on making Dark souls for the PC, but now they are. Now is the time to prove that you actually wanted the game, and with your support, they will develop the next game with the PC in mind. If PC gamers don't hold up their end it will be bad for everyone. Think of the big picture and bite the bullet. Anybody who signed the petition should buy the game even if they hate windows live. Don't prove the naysayers right.

(P.S. Not to put down anybody's beef with GFWL, but I have used GFWL with Halo 2 and it worked fine, it maybe crashed three times over the course of five months. I have a hard time believing it will break the game.)
If they want our support, they should support us. Putting the game out is all well and good, but don't smear shit on your product and expect us to thank you for it. I've never not had a problem with GFWL, nothing game-breaking (Most of the time) but I never buy a GFWL game full-price.

Dark Souls looked cool, and I wanted to play it. But I don't need to play it. And I feel no guilt whatsoever not supporting From Entertainment in this.
This so much.

Why exactly do people insult PC gamers by callin them entitled when all we want is for our games to actually work? GFWL has so many documented problems that can literally keep us from playin the games we legally own that it would require extraordinary lack of fucks to not notice the problem.

People like Totalbiscuit bring up how they get to save money by bein able to use the same netcode that they used for xboxlive. I will answer that by sayin I will save money by not buyin a game that is guaranteed to have multitudes of issues that a console player of the same game wouldn't have.

Also...what kind of message does it send to publishers and developers if we complain loud and hard about this kind of stuff and then just roll over and take it right after? If lazy port X can sell despite everythin workin against it, what is to stop them from doin the exact same thing next game?

I don't really care for GFWL but my desire to play Dark Souls is stronger so I will purchase Dark Souls. I will most likely die many many times in the game. Hopefully it does come to Steam.

I remember back when I was a pc-exclusive gamer.
I remember having to use GFWL when Halo 2 came out
I remember how much of a convoluted downgrade GFWL was from the old Halo Combat Evolved system

GamesForWindowsLive is obsolete and should be abandoned. Why not use GOG, Steam or even Origin.

Because Microsoft don't get any money when you buy a PC game.

They do however, when you buy an X360 title.

Lets just say this: I want to buy Dark Souls legitimately for my PC.
With GFWL, I won't even have the OPTION to get it legitimately. They'd be losing a sale not because I'm boycotting, but because the SERVICE IS NOT AVAILABLE IN MOST REGIONS. And for the people who can... its glitchy as hell and a pain to use.
We're entitled to a product that works, but I think they should drop GFWL so that they'll make as much money as they can - keeping it will only result in lost sales from people like me who will be forced to pirate, and those who boycott the use of a terrible platform.
Edit: I like how many people don't realize (or ignore) that GFWL is region locked, and can't be bought in most regions of the world. For some of us, GFWL completely ruins our chances of getting the game, no matter how much we'd want it.

I'd say that's the issue really, for alot of people it's unavailable or drops out more then it's online.

I couldn't Multiplay DOW or bioshock 2 using GFWL because it just wouldn't stay connected long enough and when it did it's matchmaking would often bug out and just sit there "searching" for eternity.

Maybe it was looking for my soul mate and I didn't give it enough credit but I doubt it.

And THAT is the GFWL experience I'm far more inclined to believe than those who ***** about it. While not a PC gamer, I've used and played GTA IV through GFWL and in the past couple years I've messed around with it on my friend's computer, I have NEVER had an issue with it.

I get that both sides are just anecdote, but forgoing an experience on purely the basis of what medium it's being distributed on is pretty petty...

There's no guarantee that the game will work with GFWL though. I've NEVER been able to connect to the online with Arkham City, it just won't accept my CD Key no matter what I do. If that happens with Dark Souls is locks me out of a massive portion of the game.
