I have zero tolerance for people who do not understand the scientific method, so please, do me a favor, keep your untestable beliefs the hell away from my science.
I'm not trying to prove my beliefs to you. I'm trying to prove to you that your BELIEFS(evolution) are not testable, observable, and are not fact and actually faith.
Evolution has actually been tested and observed in a lab. [http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn14094-bacteria-make-major-evolutionary-shift-in-the-lab.html]

You fail to understand my argument. By saying a cactus developed spines over a long period of time you are putting your faith in the fact that cactus's at one point had no spines. Me saying a cactus was created with spines is putting my faith in the fact that someone created them that way. My argument is not that evolution is completely wrong, but that it is as much as a religion as christianity, islam, or scientology.
Fair enough, I did misunderstand what you were saying, but that doesn't make it right (last argument for real, sorry). You assume that we have no evidence things were different. We do. They're called fossils. I realize, however, that you aren't attacking evolution as such, so I'll stop.

To what extent can a Biology teacher teach us about evolution? Many schools get in trouble for even mentioning Darwin's theory, yet my text book in Biology has a whole chapter about Darwin and the like.
Show me where OP asked for a religious debate.
There is no scientific theory other than evolution explaining the origin of species
All else is religion. That's what makes this thread science vs supersti... cough religion.
So I'm wrong because I believe there is someone out there that watches over us and does His best to hope and believe in a better tomorrow? Why do you care so much about something you don't believe in? How are you better than me if I believe in hope and live a better and more productive life because of it?

Religion isn't all about being some fucking idiotic fairytale person, it helps people with good morals and gives us something to live for.

Someone lock this topic.

OK, I got quoted, so I came back! Look, the gravity argument is beaten to death. Newton did a good job explaining what, but did not answer why, especially on the quantum level. Anyway, I'm not a physicist, so I'll drop it, you can have it. Check out Indiana University, it is doing some fabulous work with fruit fly populations. I can also observe populations is the wild, much like darwin, and draw conclusions based on those observations. I can buy "this animal is this way because it must do this to survive" much more easily than "this animal is this way because an ethereal being made it so". If you drop the "fossils are god's test of our faith" argument on me next, my head will implode...

Holy shit, youre eager to make assumptions.
What if I am a catholic? You know that the pope said evolution is true?
Well I'm not a catholic, but I don't openly deny your God, if you stay out of my science.
I was eager to make assumptions? Maybe consider the fact that you made religion and superstition equal in your eyes. That's why I got pissed off. You fucking athiests think you've got it all planned out. (save a few great ones, RIP Randy Pausch) Stay out of your science? I never disagreed with the theory of evolution, good try.

You are right you haven't disagreed with it, all you have done was bash atheists.

Also to counter the "fucking atheists" comment:

Fucking wanker

Scopes Monkey trial good sirs.

And yes, in the state of California it is a California State Standard that you learn the theory of evolution, not believe in it however. I am not sure how it is in other states. Quite frankly I believe in it but, if people choose not to it doesn't make my knowledge any less true to me.

Wrong, I said religious explanations to the origin of species is superstition. But thats also a part of some protestants' religion. If you don't disagree with evolution why do you act like you do?
Still unsure why you think I've been talking about evolution in this thread. Haven't said one word about it, all I've said is you athiests always feel the need to visit threads about religion and spew your whole fit about how none of it is real and everybody who belives in a religion can go fuck themselves. As I've already mentioned, true or false, people like myself choose to believe in religion because we have hope and it makes us better people. I'm sorry for wanting to be a friendly and loving person, The Escapist.

I want to point out you are one of the main instigators in bringing religion into this. But of course religion is hard to separate from this issue because the alternatives to the theory of evolution are religious, which don't belong in a science class.
Edit: And could you please stop with the hate towards atheists, you are making assumptions about other people religions based on very little and are pretty much coming across as a self-righteous asshat.

Yes, and perhaps now I've taken it too far, but I posted because I'm quite a bit upset with all the people who degrade the religious. Really could care less whether or not you believe in it, but a GREAT majority of athiests here at the Escapist seem to make total asses out of themselves, as seen earlier in this thread. (And pretty much every athiest dominant religious debate that pops up here everyday at the Escapist)

Anyway, didn't mean to make a huge debate and I apologize, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to stop posting here if others want to keep egging it on.

First, this thread was about evolution, read the OP. Second, this is getting nowhere; agree-to-disagree time, I think (that last part was addressed to everyone, not just you).

EDIT:

The problem with you religious people is that to you a book written by ancient shepards is equal to the works of modern science.
What I mean by "truth" are verifiable facts that are results of research. And you can find this type of truth in every scientific bookstore. This is where you should obtain the mentioned books.
See, I'm not pointing specific titles that support my beliefs, I'm just asking you to trust people who studied this subject. How is that wrong?
My second point above is addressed to you as well. Let it go.

Yeaaaap, I'm done. Though there'll probably be a topic exactly like this tomorrow with somebody saying religion is for idiots and the planet would be better off without them.
