Afternoon all,

Today, something strange happened. I witnessed a robbery in broad daylight on a busy street. It's the first time I have ever witnessed such a crime and I was shocked.

I was at work, sat at my desk doing bugger all as usual when I heard a car pull up on the gravel car park outside. I looked out the window to see who they were, they were two chavs in tracksuits. Ten minutes later, they got out of the car, put their hoods up and pulled out a lead pipe and a huge fucking knife. Within five seconds, they smashed some poor dude's car window, stole a bag and got the hell out of dodge.
It was pre-meditated as they were waiting for the victim to come home and they knew EXACTLY what they were looking for.

Needless to say, I got their license plate (dumb pricks used their own bloody car) and a description of what they looked like ready for the police who my colleague called as soon as the window was smashed.

It was a pretty weird day.

But my question for you all is, have you ever witnessed a crime? No matter how minor or major, please share all.

Nice Cyriak avatar :)

I was the victim of attempted murder, does that count? I got shoved in front of a moving vehicle by a bully at school a few years ago.

That's a freaking weird .gif you got there, OP.

I once witnessed myself pirating a game. That's about it.
I blocked his gif because it keep distracting me.

And I never witnessed any crime.

The worst thing I've witnessed were the fights when I was at High School, which apparently were numerous enough. Seeing a large body guard tackle someone is always fun.

I once saw a shoplifter being chased down the street. That's about the worst I've witnessed. What can I say, it's peaceful around here, just the way I like it.

You did this all wrong, you should have thrown a brick onto the guys head.
*tsk tsk*
No, i've never witnessed a crime, unless you count the death of thousands by my hand as a crime.
*readies death ray*
You don't see it as a crime, do you?

I was the victim of a drive-by once. Granted it was with paint balls that missed, but it hit the guy I was walking with and it left welts. The same people also hit the cars outside my house which wasn't even on a direct line from where I was walking, so they obviously knew where my house was. I was too busy ducking to see the car which went over the hill pretty quickly, so nothing was done about it :(

I've never witnessed a crime, before, but one time my mom and I went to the bank to deposit our pay checks, then later that day the same bank was held up and robbed. Lucky break, i guess o_O

I was mugged once for 10 quid. Didnt take my bike and phone though becaus i managed to cycle away in time. Its scary how little power you have while sitting on a bike with someone holding the handlebars... You literally cant do anything. Never saw anything though.

Have I? No. My sister , however, witnessed a murder in front of a pool hall/bar - when she was a young adult. We've never ever talked about it.

Edit: Oh, and my other sister was held hostage by a couple men robbing a bank. Yeesh.

Yes, to answer the OP I have. First day on a new job as a cashier at Rite-Aid, a couple came in and tried to steal several boxes of Prilosec using a shopping bad lined with tinfoil. The manager caught them however, and they fled the store but not before taking their license plate out of the front dashboard. I don't think they were caught.

Another time was when I was riding along with my cousin and a friend of ours down Ritchie Highway in Maryland. At the stop light, we witnessed a man running after a truck when the driver suddenly jumped out. The guy was trying to steal the truck from the man on foot. The perpetrator run in front of my cousin's car, and my cousin nudged him with it. He fell over, spilling quite a bit of medication he had in his coat. The guy on foot caught up, we helped restrain him and the cops were called. Most surreal moment in my life so far.

EDIT: OP, your Avatar frightens me tremendously please make it stop...

I have witnessed a murder, and I am not joking. When I was 12 I lived in the city, and this is Pittsburgh so it isn't exactly the greatest city either. Hearing gunshots isn't exactly special, but its still not very common. Me, my brother and sister, and Dad were driving to my grandmothers house when suddenly, out of nowhere, I'm temporarily deafened and some guy is lying on the ground with a small blood puddle. My Dad speeds away and that's the end of that.

I witnessed a gang stabbing outside my old workplace one day. Two punks crossing the street, start fighting for some reason, one ends up lying on the meridian with police and ambulance sirens approaching. The only thing that really shook me up was the fact that I felt absolutely nothing and genuinely didn't care for what could possibly have been a murder for all I know. I thought my soul was completely desensitized and was a little freaked out for a couple days at the though of basically achieving total stoicism. Then I got a cute little drawing from a kid, had an "Awwwwe" moment and remembered I'm still capable of emotion.
