From what I've seen and heard, the new Fallout DLC is largely combat orientated, and doesn't feature much or any of the dark humour, amusing side-quests and general freedom of the main fallout game. So I really couldn't care less.
But unlike the DLC, a ps3 patch to fix the abrupt game ending could probably be created in about 30 seconds. I really see no reason for them not doing that. With all considered It does seem pretty likely that Microsoft paid them off.
EDIT: Also I think comparing Valve with Bethesda is a little unfair. Yes Gabe Newell hates the PS3. But he has said that the only reason Valve didn't port their games to the ps3 is because they have no PS3 devs. Hence letting EA (badly) port the Orange Box. And I think he said something about bringing in some PS3 devs in the near future. So at least we have that to look forward to.
