It's only a matter of time before the robot "learns" how delicious the taste of human blood and flesh is.

Pishaw, I don't know what you guys are worrying about, tell them a paradox and they'll think so hard about it that they'll shut themselves off.

Unless the robots are stupid, but then they wouldn't be a problem.

Hopefully when it starts asking questions like:
"Do I have a soul?"
People will use the history of science fiction as hindsight and NOT panic and try to destroy it. Because in case you haven't noticed, that never ends well. Also, don't try to claim that as machines they are your property, because that also never ends well.

Oh, and for the love of God... don't call it Skynet!

They better make sure to add in the AI laws [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Laws_of_Robotics] that were thought up by the one guy.

Rule 1: A robot must never harm a human, or allow a human to come to harm.
Rule 2: If the human in question is a n00b, rule 1 is rescinded.
Rule 3: A robot must never allow itself to come to harm, unless the situation is really funny.

This will be a good thing if we embrace their intelligence and possible sentience, rather than condemn it.

Imagine a world where robots and humans live alongside each other as allied nations.

Hell, if things went bad, I'd just implant my mind into a robot anyway.

I hope you're being sarcastic, because almost every book which that "one guy" [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isaac_Asimov] wrote was about how those laws wouldn't work, and would inevitably end up with robots killing us all / trying to imprison us forever.

Are you sure you're not confusing that with the completely ignore-the-source-material film with Will Smith in it?

I think it was called iRobot.

Yes, I am sure. Many of his books (or at least many of the ones about robots, I believe he wrote lots of books) were about how those laws could be interpreted badly by robots, although it wasn't always by killing everyone, admittedly.
