It looks awesome.

For one: Lara looks appealing. FINALLY! She looks like a human! How many years did it take from her pyramid-formed breasts to this?

Second: It looks like a mix of Tomb Raider and Batman Arkham Asylum. I loved the gameplay of Arkham and every game can benefit from it.
Thanks for the heads up, now I can skip the video and just buy the game. :D

It might have something to do with me never getting into the original series, but I like the look of the new Tomb Raider. I like a good linear game every once in a while, and I really enjoyed Uncharted, so I think I will definitely be picking this one up.

Don't skip the video. It seems that it shows some of the scripted gameplay.

And I really think that scripted sequences in a sandboxy kind of game could help. Arkham Asylum was at the end of the day a Batman game with a few sandbox aspects. It created the illusion of the area being alive and big and vast while having a tight and focused narrative. The new Tomb Raider gives me the same 'vibe'. The story part is rather linear with branching options of confrontation but and the freedom of going back, revisiting stuff as well as optional exploration. I'm awaiting the responses of my favorite critics / reviewers / youtubers about this game but my hopes are high that this becomes the first Tomb Raider game of which I don't grow bored in under ten minutes.
I won't. It was just my odd way of expressing my interest in the game.

I'm right there with you on the hopes of the game. I remember trying to play the first three on the PS1 and getting frustrated with the controls. I don't recall if there was a look inversion or not, and if there was I didn't find it. I could've also just been very bad at the game.

Why is it that when I read these comments I imagine 'Uncharted' being said like a dirty word?

Hm.. I never liked Tomb Raider, I think it's heavily exaggerated to compare it to Tarantino unless it really changed a lot. I guess I'm more interested now.

The original games were Tomb Raider games in name only too. This reminds me of a Jim Sterling video about how we put so much weight on names and get pissed at games we'd otherwise like "if only it wasn't series X with a different tone."
How were the originals Tomb Raider in name only? They were the originals and, by and large, about raiding tombs. It doesn't get much more tomb raidery than that!

And don't assume I'm angry, I'm not, just disappointed really. The original games had a unique style of gameplay to them that I've never seen another game do nearly as well. It's just a shame to see this newest game completely abandoning those old tenants in favour of a more action-oriented cinematic approach, especially when the originals were the only games to ever have really gotten it right. Maybe the new approach will be great, I don't know, but it will never be the way it was before which again is a shame because it's not like I can look elsewhere.

With the original games for all the marketing crap it wasn't about Lara Croft, it was about these massive and wondrous locations you visited filled with mystery and complex, clever environmental puzzles. This new game by contrast is all about watching a young girl getting hurt and killing people, if previews are to be believed.

Not my thing.

To be fair, there are tombs and exploration in the game. Most of it is optional too, so if you come across an interesting looking location, if you choose to explore deeper you could come across something really awesome. Since all they're showcasing is the action-y bits (which is probably to entice a wider audience) I can see why that would put you off.

Only a few weeks away, now.
So people keep saying, though none of that has shown up so far.

Game looks pretty fun. I won't exactly run out to buy it, but something tells me I would enjoy it. I especially liked Lara getting injured and pretty much having a somewhat realistic portrayal when things start going south. Even like when she made that jump but got hurt due to the same injuries. The only thing that felt off to me was Lara's character model when she's talking to Sam. It looked... weird, like it was off somehow. Then again I've only really seen still art pics of Lara and that really nice CGI trailer from a year or so ago so I guess I'm just not used to it. Thought she was fine everywhere else though, so meh.

Never played a Tomb Raider game before so my opinion may be skewed in some way I guess. Still, game looks cool. Just worried about stuff like total game length.

Both Bioshock Infinite and Tomb Raider look very appealing, but I'm not exactly in a rush to get either. And yet everytime I look, I see good things. Decisions, decisions.

It looks a HECK of a lot like Uncharted - which is funny since Uncharted was the one that seemed very much inspired by Tomb Raider but I thought Uncharted was an improvement so this does as well. I'm pretty excited for this!! X)

Dear god. That death on the waterfall is gonna haunt me. Nonetheless, this auto-cover thing immediately turned me off. And this video would have been better without this guy's narration.

"Lara's friend is in trouble! She has a clear goal now!"

You don't say!

Of course they wouldn't show it. What's the point if they show us one of them when we're supposed to look for it ourselves? Anyway, they are there. I think it's just their marketing towards action-loving people that are putting everyone off TR's new look. I can't blame them, really.

The devs said somewhere between 15-16 hours or so, but I'm not sure if that may include some optional exploration. If you don't have a lot of time to play games, that should be ideal. It seems to be a fairly long campaign either way.

Absolutely. I've never seen a demo where someone screwed up that sequence before, and it looked horrifying. Most of the deaths are, actually.

This is the first I have seen of the new tomb raider and it looks good to be fair I like the Uncharted vibe as I quite enjoyed Uncharted 2 and 3 plus its good to see Lara look get a makeover it was long overdue.

I hated the earlier Tomb Raider games I just thought they looked and played awful so I am pretty biased, I want change and this looks like it will deliver. I am not sure I will get it on release probably not TBH but I stand a strong chance of picking it up eventually providing it does actually turn out ok.
