No Ice-T?

FOR SHAME!
Yeah! Where's the "Go ninja go ninja go"?
That's Vanilla Ice...

Huh. I always thought they were the same person. What I mean is that I always knew there was this rapper who called himself something with ice. So when I heard the name "Vanilla Ice" I though Ah, so that's his name and when I heard the name "Ice-T" I though the same thing.
Ice-T was the guy who went on to act in Law & Order: SVU

Thanks for the replies. There are a few names mentioned here that I've never heard of, hopefully they'll give me something listen to for the next few days.

I regards to some of the suggestions:

Still dre - I chose to for Forgot about dre instead because I think its a better song but it was a close call between the two.
Never really been a fan of Ice T.
Grand master Flash - The Message would have been on the list if it was 15 but where as it is a good song I dont think it can match the two N.W.A songs and the others on the list.
Skipped the beastie boys cause I was going for rap rap not rock rap.
Skipped Jay-Z, he's good, but he's not that good.

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned Low-key or Immortal Technique, they were two others I was debating putting on the list

No Roots Manuva? How can you not love a song where the first line is

"Task master burst the bionic zit splitter, break neck speed we drown ten pints of bitter"

Fever is probably the better tune though

This is closer to trip hop i guess. But still cool.

(nice and easy cool and breezy)

Your lack of Talib Kwali, Atmosphere, Mr. Lif, Ugly Duckling, Aesop Rock, Sage Francis and Kid n' Play confuses and angers me!

Not actually Kid n' Play. ;)

I would burn the records, shoot the rappers, and ban the trash. But Other than that, not enough Biggie Smalls.
I'm going to assume that because you mention Biggie that the rest of your comment is meant ironically.

I dont know how you could even do this, becuase rap ISN'T really music. Its white boys wanting to be tough abd black boys wanting to either live the gang life tthat their ancestors did or just basically announce they are a gang member and then cry later whenenver someone takes a shot at them whihc then turns to a new album.

and no, thats not racism, thats reality. I dont consider anything music when you cant play half the song on a radio without censorship taking the other half.
u.
Please, get out. Seriously, just leave. Don't try to start a flamewar. You hate rap despite clearly knowing nothing about it, so just keep quiet and go to a different thread. Rap is nothing like R&B. Not every rap song is full of swearing, and it's not like swearing somehow makes a song objectively bad.

Black guys wanting to be in gangs like their ancestors? What are you even on? Organised gang crime is a pretty recent deal, and for the early years the mob was mainly white. Also, not all rap is about gangs anyway. As proof, listen to the below examples.

That's some jazz music right there, so does the rap somehow mean it isn't music? And it also isn't about guns and hoes, which I imagine you think all rap is. It's all about social change.

Or maybe this very appropriate song about music snobbery?
Edit - that isn't all I can list, but it's 3.30am and I am not going to bother anymore.

MY friends could never understand why or even how I could like rap and metal. So I put together a list of the top 10 rap songs for them to listen to, to see if they like it.

http://musicouch.com/musicouching/top-songs-top-10-rap-songs/

So I was wondering what you guys think of the list and what changes you'd make.
Whats with Forgot About Dre? That song had no real meaning, it was just average rap and just "Hey guys I'm back! Oh yah and fuck Death Row!" its nothing special, Dre isn't even that great of a rapper.

One song by Tech N9ne? Tormented was good, it was a song that told a story about being a drug addict and alcoholic, but seriously he made songs about abortion, challenging his beliefs, along with his fucked up life, which certainly beat Tormented.

Can I just say to everyone who thinks Hip-Hop is just people bragging about gang life, bitches , and hoes, listen to this, real MC's hate rappers who are the materialistic brats on the radio too, and seeing people base off their opinions on fake shit on the radio is really making me a sad panda.

But like this song said, theres Hip-Hop, then there is Hip-POP.

Now this is a story all about how
This thread got flipped, turned upside down
And I'd like to take a minute, just sit right there
I'll tell you how I became the prince of a thread called 'mal de mer'

'mal de mer' is French for sea sickness if i remember correctly, its the only thing I could think of that reminded with 'Bel Air' D:

I really only disagree with having Jump Around on the list but no Jay-Z. Really?

Also while I agree that Lose Yourself is a great song, just about anything off of Recovery is better. It really is Eminem's masterpiece.

Also a great song: <youtube=8mXRQpJZ9RE>

You are awesome. And you posted Dan Le Sac vs. Scroobius Pip, which makes you more awesome. That Avalanche track was great too, definitely going to check out more of their music.
