like:
-semi-coherent back story. it doesn't need to be all there, just enough for me to mbe able to figure out for myself what's going on.
-well-rounded/even characters,whether it's skills or personality,preferably both.
-epic music over intense scenes/fights
-character development done right and/or showing certain constraints when it comes to certain people(ex:Gutts in berserk when it comes to Casca)
Dislike:
-under powered characters who suddenly gain almost god-like skills when they're about to be beaten. at the very least make them consistently strong, not pulling extra power and skills out of their ass.(fine if parodied and somewhat excusable in kid shows, though not constantly)
-instant forgiveness for someone who abandoned and/or betrayed them. this is ridiculous, especially if it's done during things like travelling in the middle of a war or such things.
others have already talked about the romance issue so i won't go there.
-forcing another character to save the world/destroy the antagonist because some prophecy said so, despite the face that the ones telling them to go do so can easily destroy said enemy themselves.(ex:HP series)
that's all i've got for now...
