Come one, it's Pixar we're talking about. They haven't made a bad movie since.. ever!

Yeah, I'm confused with what they'd be attempting to accomplish with this. The people who grew up with Toy Story got their closure with 3, so unless they're trying to appeal to a new demographic of younger children again I don't know where they could go with it. I mean, theoretically, with how 3 ended they could take the franchise in any number of directions, but I just don't know. I guess we'll see as time rolls on.

Why?! Seriously, there's absolutely no need to make this. Nothing but a cheap cash-in.

Of course, when an amazing trilogy has closure, they have have to make a cash in sequel. Damn you Pixar.
You know, the Toy Story IP is owned by Disney, not Pixar...

And likewise Pixar is also owned by Disney...

Probable that Pixar doesnt have a say in the matter...

And most importantly we all should know that if Pixar puts in the effort then the goose will probably lay yet another golden egg.

They're just rumours, and Pixar had wrapped everything up with Toy Story 3. So I doubt that they'd pointlessly extend it and, as a result, piss off a lot of fans with a cheap cash-in sequel. A fourth Toy Story is about as likely as a fourth Back to the Future.

So then why did you quote me? I didn't say anything about Pixar.

I always thought that the difference between Pixar and Dreamworks was that Pixar stopped making sequels before they killed a franchise. Now they are making Toy Story 4. The Toy Story movies are awesome and I kinda want to watch them all this summer, but we don't need Toy Story 4. Toy Story 3 was awesome and the ending left us with hope for the future that is better left unexplored in order to be what we want it to be in our minds.

When you write a vauge one-liner youre really leaving it up the the readers interpretation. This was such a case.

So it's actually my fault that you jumped to conclusions? If it was so vague to you then don't quote me at all

Wh-WHAAAAT?!

They can't make ANOTHER Toy Story movie! The last one ended things so damn conclusively and perfectly that making another one would ruin that!

*sees all the whining and complaining centered around the idea that a well-done trilogy isn't allowed to have another sequel*

Guys, you do realize that
1. The Toy Story movies were all intended for kids (though I believe Andy was made college-age to draw in the sentimental adult audience who were kids when the first came out) and you're all outside the target audience
2. If you don't like the idea, you don't have to see it
3. Even if you whine about it, you're probably going to go see it anyway in the hopes of reliving your childhood if only for a couple hours

Right?

Seriously, this griping will get you nowhere. You think it's a cash-in? News flash: All movies are cash-ins, even Indy films. They are made to make money as much as they are to tell a story or send a message. In many cases, more so.

If you're looking to gripe about extensions to a set of movies you're under the impression that you own the exclusive rights to, you may as well dig up what little is left of the dead horse that is the Star Wars prequels. I'm sure George Lucas will carefully consider all everything you have to say quite carefully.

Oh, and just to be clear: That was sarcasm.

In all seriousness, I will probably see this movie. Pixar tends to do a damn fine job.

If it's a good movie then more power to them, but I thought we were pretty well done with Toy Story after the third installment. It was as sad as hell, but it was a great ending to a great story. What else is there to tell?

I thought toy story 3 wasnt as good as 2 or was it really needed, pixar has begun milking their franchises. Whelp it was a nice ride while it lasted but everyone sells out eventually.
Completely off topic, but what do you mean "whelp it was a nice ride"? I've seen the word being used that way (and by that way I mean, not in the way that the word means) in a story I'm reading and assumed it was some bad translation, and I can't for the life of me work out why. Is it just the hip way of saying well? /old man mode.

OT: Le sigh. I thought they were going to close the trilogy on a high instead of stopping when people hate it.

I do think that Toy Story 3 was a fantastic closure to the series, I won't lie I cried at the end, but at the same time... this IS Pixar, if anyone would be able to pull this off, it would be them

I think "It was a nice ride" is just the guy reminiscing about the amazingness that was the trilogy, and with another sequel coming so soon after the ending of Toy Story's Andy trilogy is just making the franchise a sell out.

OT: If this is real... ALL OF MY NOOOOO!!!

I don't want another Toy Story sequel, the series ended when Andy drove away from Bonnie's house in the car! If you add another one on with an owner nobody's grown up with, and characters who will probably begin to get stale. I mean, what else can you do with living toys that won't come off as a boring, uninspired piece of shit after the first 3! Damn... this news just sickens me.

It's like what they did to the Terminator series. You've knotted the plotline so thoroughly at 2, why would you want to break that with 3!?

Essentially, yeah. It's the "slang" style of saying "well". I'm not really sure how it ever got popularized, but I've used it a few times myself. Maybe it was a meme...

OT again: I think one of the big issues a lot of the people on this website will have if this becomes reality is that... well, to be perfectly frank, we (the people who grew up with Toy Story) aren't really the target demographic anymore. Or at least, we shouldn't be. If they aim the movie at us, it's going to fall flat because we don't want another Toy Story. But if they aim the movie toward the demographic of children again, who may have seen Toy Story 3 but never really knew about the previous two, then... instantly there's a new reason to keep the franchise alive.

No! They can't do this! Toy Story 3 ended perfectly, it was the perfect closure to the series. They should not do this!
