They still have annonced they considerably reduced the optionss
No Origins
Only humans
They removed the top down view cause the consoles sold better
removed the modelings cause it sold mostelly on console

sorry but they dumped down the game that much is clear.... even if i will still buy it cause i'm a bioware fan girl.... and i hate me for that
PC version still has the top-down view, and you can still customize your character's appearance and gender.
no they annonced they removed the top down view. check your source... and still bieng able to customise gender, damn i sure hope so, but it's still a lot of options gone

As to the subject of tactical view, I
can confirm that we will not be doing a tactical view on consoles,
though we are looking into some expanded party control that I think will
make console players quite happy.

On the PC, however, we are
still working with the camera to keep the key elements of the tactical
experience there. I was actually playtesting some new camera code when
Victor found me, in fact, so I can give you the latest news on that
front.

While we likely won't pull as far up as we did in DA:O, I
have always felt that the key to tactical play was actually freeing
your camera from the character you're controlling to issue precise
orders, which is what we're tuning now. So, this means you can still
maneuver the camera around the battlefield and issue orders from a
remote location, just as you could in Origins.

Direct quote from Mike Laidlaw, lead designer. So they're still going to have a tactical view, it just won't zoom out as far as the DA:O camera did. Plus they're still tweaking the camera system so nothing is set in stone yet.

Edit: also, in the same post he says they're looking into releasing a DA2 version of the toolset, but it won't be there during launch. And anyways it's basically the same toolset, just with a few modifications.

God you think that was cartoonish? Look up The orginal Dragon age Concept art.
So that was just me, good to know.
I wasn't just speaking about the concept art, but also about the trailer, which for me seemed to have a different style of art (for the lack of a better word, more cartoonish) than older trailers, but after rewatching the Sacred Ashes trailer, I just think my memory betrayed me on that front.

I love how people are already up in arms when they release a single trailer. From this trailer alone, apparently, we've so far been able to deduce.

- Bioware are making a JRPG
- People who are looking forward to this game are fanboys
- Bioware's end is apparently near
- It's going to be like Devil May Cry
- It's going to be horrible.

So, I ask you now, dear wizards able to tell the future... Just how were you able to pull -this- much from a single CGI trailer that shows nothing at all in terms of gameplay, while Bioware reps themselves have stated how they've enhanced the graphic engine, the combat mechanics and their own storytelling methods.

Just get a grip people, it's a CGI trailer designed to show off concept - not gameplay.

Hoo boy, You notice it as well?

You see Bioware thought people could't tell the game from other RPG's so...they actually changed it slightly.

So we have this...I think it look better.

I bet BioWare must be tearing their hair out. Pre-release, they can't seem to do anything right for the fans.
What, exactly, HAVE they done right for fans of the original game?

Every announcement has been about what they're removing and dumbing down.

No origins?
Human only?
Maybe they'll get around to mod tools?
Tactical combat is out?

You can't announce that you're removing features from a game, announce nothing else to make up for it, and expect people not to complain.

THEORY!!!

I wonder if this dude is the "child" a certain witch wanted. Reasons for this:

The scene at the end where he's looking in the camera. He looks like his mother.
Flemeth is the one talking in the trailer. Not exactly an odd choice, but still.
Flemeth keeps harping how this man will change the world and has a destiny before him. His mother said something similar at the end of Dragon Age.
He had a flashback of an Archdemon, perhaps remembering something from his "birth"
He has powers that clearly have never been seen before. Those looked like dragon claws to me.
O_O Holy shit! That makes sense! Hey everyone! Hawke is your bastard demon-witch child from DA:O. Sweet

ohhh boy Bioware made quite a number of annoncement before releasing this trailer, we are basing what we said on thouse annoncement much more than on the trailer

Did the origins really make that entire game, or did I miss something? Hawke is a preset character, so of course he's human. Shepard was human, and that lack of choice never slowed Mass Effect down. Mod tools I'll agree on, but then again I'm not a modder so it's not a big loss for me personally.

The tactical combat being out is something I've missed. Don't suppose you have a link to go with that? Because all I've been able to find is "New combat mechanics" (not "removed old").

My thoughts exactly. People will keep raging about how it's going to suck and how it'll ruin everything that was good about the first one...

And then buy it. :D

Its great how people complain about what they see, but its a fucking cinematic trailer. It's not supposed to show gameplay its just meant to hype up the product.

From what I've read all they are doing is working to make the melee combat more responsive and tactile so that it's less of a chore to be a melee class. They've also removed the far zoomed out strategic camera that was only in the PC version. I could be wrong, but I don't believe anything has been said about actually removing any of the strategy itself, just one of the camera options.

Some of us quite liked to the origins. Bioware even apparently thought they were important enough to put them in the title of the first game. But, oh well, Karathos declares that they're not important, so suddenly I don't care about them anymore!

Yes, actually, it did. Shepard is just some flavor of Shepard, but my Dragon Age character was my character. Also, the dialog wheel never worked as well as actually being able to choose what my character was going to say.

In a translated interview with French gaming magazine Joystick, Dragon Age 2 Lead Designer Mike Laidlaw said the new game won't offer the "Baldur's Gate-style" aerial camera that gave players a commanding view of the battlefield in Origins. "For budgetary reasons, we focused our work on a 3rd person view, that asks for very detailed and nice textures so that the player can admire the game with a close-up view," he said. "With an aerial view we should cover much more ground and so [must] create other textures. Now, the game mainly sold on console, so we're going the way of the audience."

Well, the difference really isn't as big as I thought at first. I'll have to see more trailers and most importantly gameplay to see how much they really changed it and whether I like it or not.
