That may be, but this game wont be that big, due to the fact it's not Modern warfare, Battlefield or Halo.

The biggest games always seem to be the most advertised, and people (seem to) care more about the soviets invading in a video game, then being underwater in a video game.
No matter what, it will NEVER be advertised as much as the games I listed above, especially during E3.

Early days yet but they're pushing the 'we do underwater' card more than, say, the 'plot' or 'character' cards so it appears (so far) to be a bit of a grey shooter.

Oh, and the wrist interface reminds me of Goldeneye for the N64.

I feel like this game is trying to leave the "grizzled marine in full power armor fighting... IN SPACE!" section and create a new section: "grizzled marine in full power armor fighting... UNDERWATER!"

Well, given how generally awesome any water level is in an action game, I can't see how this could possibly fail!

I think an action game with a heavy underwater element COULD be a success, but that it would depend on really exploiting the potential of underwater combat, especially the ability to hit and enemy from above and below. Elements such as "take out somebody's air supply and remove two enemies from the fight as one of his teammates is forced to share air with his buddy as they both flee to the surface" and "shockwaves from explosions are amplified in water, so recalculate your minimum safe distance accordingly" also have potential. The underwater action in THIS trailer, however, showed me no evidence that this was going to happen. Instead the action looked to be as relatively 2D in scope as any land-bound shooter.

I disagree with the Solid Snake bit, despite the hand-to-hand combat. The armor, especially the helmet, looked familiar to some other series that slips my mind. But I had an idea for what the character should be called! An Operational Deep Sea Trooper, or ODST for short!

Hmmm. When they say "Unleash stunning 3D graphics", I hope they mean 3D as in Avatar type 3D. If they're talking about the fact that the game isn't a 2D platformer, they're REALLY groping for features to market.

I'm usually all for this kinda back alley games that get ignored or scoffed at by mainstream gaming (Bionic Commando, Vanquish), but even I have to admit this looks pretty budget compared to most. The plain brown textures and shoddy look of the 4 Legged Walker are probably what's fazing me. But I guess we'll see.

"stunning 3D graphics"
Really? REALLY? You're going to throw your graphics out there as your lure in THIS day in age? The visuals of any game now-a-days are expected to be good, period. This should NOT be a selling point.

"intense campaign"
That was not mentioned again in the trailer.

I hate judging things before I get to see uninterrupted gameplay footage, but I'm gonna have to chalk this one up to being just another shooter with nothing new to offer visually and even less to offer for gameplay mechanics.

what reminds me of solid snake in this video is if you've played the opening of Metal Gear Solid 1 snake starts off in a scuba suit and that's what his uniform reminded me off

The only Metal Gear games I ever played were the ones on the original NES, so I missed your reference. I had assumed that you were referring to the hand-to-hand combat in the Trailer. My mistake.

It doesn't seem like a good sign when the discussion about a game's trailer is centered on arguments (FRIENDLY arguments, though) over which games this one is ripping off the most, though...

I've seen it on shelves in Germany, the cover art looks like generic Unreal Engine 2 era sci-fi art. The only review I could find stated that the game is extremely repetitive.

The main problem with underwater levels is the drowning mechanism most games have (even Mario can drown these days...) so it's not just regular fighting with full Z movement. Monster Hunter 3 had underwater combat that was fine, lengthy air supply IIRC. Stick an oxygen tank on your character and that's not a problem anymore.

I look forward to the timed underwater escort mission. Preceded by an unskippable cutscene.
Seriously though, swimming controls are where a lot of games tend to fail and I'm interested to see how this handles it.
