Well, given how generally awesome any water level is in an action game, I can't see how this could possibly fail!
I think an action game with a heavy underwater element COULD be a success, but that it would depend on really exploiting the potential of underwater combat, especially the ability to hit and enemy from above and below. Elements such as "take out somebody's air supply and remove two enemies from the fight as one of his teammates is forced to share air with his buddy as they both flee to the surface" and "shockwaves from explosions are amplified in water, so recalculate your minimum safe distance accordingly" also have potential. The underwater action in THIS trailer, however, showed me no evidence that this was going to happen. Instead the action looked to be as relatively 2D in scope as any land-bound shooter.

it's solid snake meets Issac Clarke
I disagree with the Solid Snake bit, despite the hand-to-hand combat. The armor, especially the helmet, looked familiar to some other series that slips my mind. But I had an idea for what the character should be called! An Operational Deep Sea Trooper, or ODST for short!
