our choices for isometric dungeon crawlers are small so ill take it regardless.
Actually the "Diablo clone" Dungeon crawler market is looking pretty good in the near future. Torchlight 2 is probably going to release in the summer, Dungeon Siege 3 as well. Then next year Diablo 3 and Grim Dawn (Titan Quest devs next game) may come out.

I would be fond of this, but once you've had a level 99 Necro Summoner with an army of 10 Skeletal Warriors and 10 Skeletal Mages following you around like the damned Inquisition that were max leveled and buffed with all summon enhancing feats that enabled them to take down fucking Diablo (Baal is a ***** to summons) with me only casting a spirit or two every now and then out of boredom..

..yeah, you kind of lose the need for any sort of Henchman. But if I take Sorceress or Demon Slayer like I plan, I might just hire a few Warrior lackies and make a wall of them while I call down elemental destruction or bolts of demon doom on whatever is distracted with rending that aforementioned wall of flesh and metal..

No idea why so many people are hating on this.
I'm sure they'll make a very nice addition to strategizing and gameplay!!!

Like Batman I too sometimes want to have a sidekick, just for kicks :p

Henchies are back. Unsurprising.
Yes, this trailer has almost no appeal. Who used them in d2 anyway ?
Uhhhh...sorceresses who put the insight or infinity runeword on mercs with the defiance or holy freeze aura? Or zons that put pride on a might merc while holding a faith bow (aka tri-damage-aura goodness)

Heck, mercs were downright amazing no matter which class you were because they provided you more skills and did some legitimate damage if you decked them in nice gear.

You mustn't have played much of D2 heh. Act 2 mercs ended up absurdly overpowered with crazy ethereal armors and had a couple auras going. Whether you wanted Meditation for your hammerdin or Conviction for your sorc, amazon, trapassassin, necro, amongst many others.

Once they fixed them up and allowed them you follow you through different acts and properly level up everyone started using mercs. Considering the lower you start leveling them the higher their stats end up it was a fun side thing to grind at.

Incoming game room "DUEL MY MERC" x1000 again.

I hope that the caster mercs will actually be useful this time, instead of everyone picking the polearm merc so they can stick him with the biggest runewords.

I haven't played Diablo, but this kinda looks like Magicka but it takes itself serious. (I know Magicka is inspired by Diablo)

They strike me as over-glorified Mercenaries like the first game had. Might be a little more useful than that, but meah. Nothing I could call unforeseen or terribly ground breaking.
EDIT: And by first I mean second as well.
You say "over-glorified Mercenaries" like that's a bad thing. In D2 mercs were essentially just meat shields and aura holding accessories. Having more than one useful class for them and adding some extra customization is still a nice improvement to me.
It's not a bad thing, my point was that it's nothing terribly new. I did enjoy the use of a fire mage in D2, as a paladin who was speced into protection it was helpful to have someone who could blow up an entire room when my friends weren't playing with me.

Thank you for the video!! I've only read about this, but it's even more amazing to actually see it.

Looks more like Diablo 2 now, for some reason. I guess henchmen were something I kept overlooking as a key element to the game for me. Huh, funny that.

...The Templar looks like it could have been copy-pasted from WoW though, which I find concerning...like everything they seem to be taking too much inspiration from WoW for.

I like it, i really didn't like going trough hordes of monsters by myself.
But I imagine they would often feel pretty shitty. In the video, one of those assistants did a 3-arrow-shot, and then next to him, the main hero shot like a million arrows at once.
Still, looking cool, and looking forward to the game.

Man, I've watched this trailer three or four times now. Still don't get the "waaaaah it looks like WoooooW" complaining. It looks like Diablo.

Have any of y'all PLAYED D2 recently? Seriously?

Edit: Also, the Enchantress will hopefully work well with my Monk.

So is it just me or does Diablo III look really bad? I am talking about the atmosphere and graphics. It looks almost on par with friggin' Torchlight. I am just surprised they are using such low polygon models. It looks like WoW.
it has more color. Its the complaint everyone has had since they first showed gameplay/screenshots of the game 2-3 years ago.

yes it does look more cartoony and isn't just you.
Well, that's the downside of using a dated engine and such a long development time I suppose. Still looking forward to it though.
The reason it look dated is because they have not focus on graphic just yet.
Starcraft 2 also gone through this cycle, the some part of in-game cinematic look pretty awful at Blizzcon. (eg. glass doesn't look like glass)
Expect the final product to have more or less like Starcraft 2, which is pretty good.
Blizzard knows about it's long development cycle and realize they should put graphic last.

I like the followers, any word if we can collect them like Pokemon and have a huge mass of followers?

Does anyone notice how the graphics of this PC exclusive seem to be slowly lowering the bar day by day, especially with character models?

...Did I see spears used in one hand? I'm liking this already! But,yes. The new hench seems a lot like weaker versions of a few of the classes available to players.

I'm actually really happy to see that henchmen are back. I pimped out my rogue with fastshot up the wazoo with stun, knock back and slow. She shot ice arrows to boot. She could actually kill well equipped players in pvp all on her own. I got a lot of praise from people for how I built her.

As for this game, hope you can keep a stable of followers this time. Also, just let me play as the templar, blizz.
