It's so cute that a game company that focuses so much on story and characters completely ignores to show either of those in their trailers. Everything after the little girl looks like it was ripped out of the Halo: Reach ads, and the little girl felt very irrelevant to anything.

Gah.

Screw it, I'm getting the Collectors Edition of Mass Effect 3 anyway, BioWare. I love you too much. That's why I complain. Out of love. So you'll learn to not do stupid shit. *AHEMCOUGH* DRAGON AGE 2 *AHEMCOUGH*

TAKE BACK EARTH

Why? What did Earth ever do for me in Mass Effect 1 and 2? I think I'll go help the Quarians find a new home or protect the Assari's home world. Earth being in danger is just boring.
Yeah, but humans came from Earth, and Shepard is a human.

So the Reapers destroying earth is basically like saying "Hey Shepard, F*CK YOU!"

And Shepard ain't gonna take that.

Totally ripped off from LBJ's 1964 Daisy political advertisement. You would think Federation recruiters could come up with something less trite.

(Here's a link for the historically challenged out there: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDTBnsqxZ3k&feature=related)

Shits going down huh?

Also is it just me or was the small girl really uncanny.
I saw the girl from behind, thought it was reallife, but when she turned around, I could intantly tell it was CGI. Rather disturbing, to tell the truth.

"Oh no, they killed a child! We need to kill these motherf***ers!" Please, like I need any more motivation to save all sentient life in the galaxy. (Which, apparently, I'll be doing on foot on the front line, because that's exactly where you want The Only Hope Of Humankind to be when fighting giant sentient starships.)

Well made, yeah, but also really cheap.
I think it's the idea that Mordin Solus spoke of; hard to feel motivated when it's the big picture, it just becomes numbers. You need small scale things to get you attached. Hence, children dying.

saw the video last night and I was amazed, if I weren't already working my way back through the first two games that totally would have been fuel to do it.

The mako's back
The Mako was an excellent piece of artillery, it just handled like shit. At least it could take a beating, unlike the Hammerhead which exploded if you looked at it funny.

Smells a lot of.... Dead Island.

Young girl anyone?

Also : When did Mass Effect's combat turn into Lord of the Rings eg. Up close and personal with blades, trolls and shizzle?
I'm guessing you only played the soldier class....

Zigacly. My main Shepherd is a Vanguard: up close and personal is exactly what ME combat is about for me.

It only handled like shit because the maps it was on where shit. You could have the most awesome car in the world but if the road is crap there will be nothing your car can do. When the map was well made the mako was awesome, seriously forget all the random planets that had no bearing on the story in ME1 and think back to the Ilos trench run, remember how fun that was.

... So ... we have tons of Normandy-class shuttles and vessels now? Same goes for Mako and Hammerhead?
Well the Normandy SR-1 was specifically supposed to be a prototype, but considering by Mass Effect 2 Cerberus had constructed the SR-2. It's conceivable the Alliance Military might have started making additional ships with similar designs. Or the other way, the internal components are always what differed and that's largely the same design that Humans use for their starships the whole time.

The Mako and Hammerhead however were never described as being special or unique. It would be the equivalent of a Jeep, so why wouldn't they have a lot of them?
Both SR-1 and SR-2 were shaped to benefit from the concealing engine systems at a maximum. The Alliance did produce multiple Normandy-class vessels, at least one other known at the time ME2 is set. The amount of variations of the actual Normandy-class we see here, though, is quite ... overwhelming, for the rather short period of time between ME2 and ME3. Other than that, we also see Normandy-class shuttles in the trailer, from what I could nail down. And of course we did see a bunch of Alliance vessels during the Battle of the Citadel. Here the Normandy was quite easy to distinguish as well.

As for the Mako I agree, yes, it's a standard vehicle. As far as I remember, though, the Hammerhead was referred to as a prototype vehicle during its intro mission.

Not that I doubt BioWare's writers on getting all these possible technology plot holes filled properly, but it doesn't convince me as of now ...

I have to say, that little girl didn't look creepy to me. She didn't exactly look human, but she was passable as a sentient being that I should feel bad for.

Still, I must say that Earth doesn't mean much to me in the Mass Effect games. When the Citadel was attacked, I was on the edge of my seat. When the Normandy was attacked, I fell over and writhed on the ground. When Earth is getting burned down, all I can really say is "I remember when I drove on the moon. That was pretty fun."

I don't remember trolls and what basically sum up to sword-fights in ME1 and ME2.

And, yes, I did only play as soldier class, because guns are fun. But i don't think other classes have swords.... If they did, I would totally have played as one.
