Does it bother anyone else that the Reaper's grand plan for galactic domination is "land on the planet, smash historic landmarks?"
ahh the second greatest evil genius plan, right behind explaining full evil plan to hero in the false belief that said hero couldn't possibly escape!

Just realized that those trolls are Yahg husks. That's gonna be a bit of a problem. Especially if they're working in concert with them biotic-spewing Asari husks that I know I've seen.
Actually, I heard somewhere that those are Krogan and Turian husks. Could be wrong but at least that would justify there being more of them since the Yahg are not a well populated people.

The trailer is super epic, but my biggest issues is still Ashley's hair. I mean I know its petty and dumb but when its covering one eye and all over the place I know how I would react to that. I'd pretty much start spazzing out and trying to find something to throw it up with so I could you know, see, and not shoot my friend on accident with. I know they want to sexy-fi her up and all, but everytime I see her I want to go all Vidal-Sassoon on her and give her a ponytail. Good thing I really had no problem killing her I guess.

I personally found that trailer to be resoundingly "meh".

I feel...let down, sort of. I was expecting more. It just didn't give me that "This is going to be Epic!" feeling.

Oh well. Still buying it on launch.

It was a very well done un-original trailer. And I don't mean that in an insulting way.

As for Bioware has a hard on for that omni-sword thing, I am still a little confused. I'm pretty sure only one class can use it.

After the demo, I'm doubting The Humans have any sizable fleet any more. The Elcor may have a bigger fleet now.
I doubt that was Earth's fleet in the trailer. Think about how in the first game they managed to scramble all the Alliance ships to attack the Reaper that was attacking the Citadel. I think it'd be pretty easy to write in that they didn't fly all the way from Earth to save (or not save) the Council.

Humans have had a pretty big presence in Space.

Desensitization.

While CGI certainly HAS improved an incredible lot over the years - no denying - I actually believe that you-from-a-few-years-back, would still have spotted today's CGI better than you-today.

We have just gotten so used to it, that we're more accepting.

The soldier, sentinel and infiltrator have their own version of the Omni-blade. The vanguard, adept and engineer get something else for their heavy melee.

Ashley, why do you have to look so bad? I loved you just the way you were. You didn't need to turn white and dress yourself up like that, really.

More on topic: Good thing I watched this on the Escapist, the version I saw at the Mass Effect website was much shorter. Also, if the Reapers can laserify Earth's cities to such a degree that the fires can be seen from space, why do they spend resources making husks? Why not just glass Earth and move on? Seems simpler to me.

I wish Shepherd would fight a little more intelligently in the trailers. First "we fight or we die," and then a mass frontal assault into hordes of enemy husks (which aren't exactly high value assets to the reapers). C'mon, Shepherd, use some tactics!

But that's just a nitpick. As long as I get to defend the other races and planets as much as I get to defend the good old Systems Alliance, I'll be a happy gamer.

TAKE BACK EARTH

Why? What did Earth ever do for me in Mass Effect 1 and 2? I think I'll go help the Quarians find a new home or protect the Assari's home world. Earth being in danger is just boring.
Yeah, but humans came from Earth, and Shepard is a human.

So the Reapers destroying earth is basically like saying "Hey Shepard, F*CK YOU!"

And Shepard ain't gonna take that.
This doesn't sit right with the Shepards that are pro-unity with every race in the galaxy. You know, the Shepards that look at humanity as just a part of the galaxy with many other gifted races, not as a race who should be the dominate species over all others. The idea that Shepard wants to stay and fight the Reapers on Earth after just witnessing them rip Earth's defenses to shreds, level cities with ease and destroy heavy cruisers without even flinching is just mind-bogglingly out of character. This is the same character who will later say "I know a thing or two about killing Reapers", yet needs Adnerson to remind him/her that the Reapers are after everyone, and that they cannot do it alone. Shepard will even go on and on about how unprepared Earth is but at no point during the invasion does Shepard even consider falling back and re-grouping with other fleets.

Shepard is kind of dumb now. As for this trailer, where are the other non-human characters? It's like Cerberus took over Bioware and demanded that humanity be the center of attention more so than they were in the previous games.

Damn it, now I REALLY have to hurry up and play through ME2 again to get the perfect save I require.

As for the kid dying, meh. Shock value is pretty popular these days, but at least this one was executed better than the little girl blowing up in MW3. Also, why always girls that are dying? I'd much rather see a young lad running at a geth with a stick in his hand, hoping to be a soldier. That'd shock me a lot more than a young innocent girl who's playing with her little spaceship getting incinerated. Not that this shock stuff is good, but at least be less predictable when you do it.

The marketing team seems to be hell bent on destroying all child life in the galaxy
Bloody kids don't pull their weight, that's why.

The universe is in conflict and all the kids can do is play with toy ships.

Damn future kids, don't know what hard graft is.

"Oh no, they killed a child! We need to kill these motherf***ers!" Please, like I need any more motivation to save all sentient life in the galaxy. (Which, apparently, I'll be doing on foot on the front line, because that's exactly where you want The Only Hope Of Humankind to be when fighting giant sentient starships.)

Well made, yeah, but also really cheap.
I think it's the idea that Mordin Solus spoke of; hard to feel motivated when it's the big picture, it just becomes numbers. You need small scale things to get you attached. Hence, children dying.
Possibly one of my favorite things Mordin Solus ever talked about (He spoke alot about logical conclusions vs emotion that also made alot of sense).

I dunno, those horns are pretty iconic. I'm pretty sure the "cannibals" that showed up in the demo are krogan, and i know the Asari ones are referred to as "banshees". If you watch the Against All Odds trailer again during the bit of actual gameplay that they show, it mentions something called a "brute", which looks like the horned ogre/yahg/husk thingy from this trailer, which therefore must be something separate. And it was never established that there's a small population of Yahg, just that they are not especially common off of their homeworld, which means that the Reapers could quite easily take their entire planet and possibly huskify (is that a word?) their entire population.

Maybe this is the cynic in me talking, but the sunflower field girl was so obliviously obvious in his badly failed attempt to cause a gut reaction that I the only reason I didn't laugh it's because it's sad they could actually believe that'd be in some way effective.

Hey look, it's Two Steps From Hell again!

Sounds like two or three songs, possibly two merged at one point.

Also, it looks just like the Gears of War and Halo trailers - tug on the heartstrings affairs with a troubling emphasis on Earth. I played Mass Effect as a citizen of the galaxy; why should Earth be more important to me than the Citadel? Why would my Shepherd care?

This trailer, and all the marketing, seems to assume that the player will automatically care about this sudden threat to Earth, but why do the Reapers even care? Some sort of blood feud? And anyway, there's much better things to do than take back Earth from a swarm of distracted intergalactic robots (hey, wanna bet an EMP weapon of some sort ends up being instrumental? Kill all the reapers, at the cost of regressing galactic civilization to a Stone Age level?) who would not be focusing on my actions and objectives taken in, y'know, actually defeating the bloody things!
