This might mix things up in-game. But in a bad way, i might add.
Being able to change to the guy you're fighting? Well, it could work, but it all depends on the details. Will you have new attacks and combos? Do you need to know how to play all the other characters before paying this old geezer?

Anyways, I'm hoping it'll be cool, but not OP.

This was completely made worth it by watching Jhonney Cage get trounced on the entire video. That is almost as good as a video watching Scott Summers (Cyclops) get punched in the face repeatedly.

What's with the Johnny Cage hate? Seriously, he's a cool guy. I rather liked this trailer, and yeah, those bookends are awesome.

Oh I loves a good blended whisky.
On the rocks is good. (buy whisky stones.)
I enjoy a jameson and ginger often.

OT;
I am surprised they even made another MK.

Shang Tsung is and forever will be my favourite Mortal Kombat character. I only hope that he is actually a playable character because I remember Ed Boon saying he wanted to go back to "Boss" character's (Goro, Shao Khan, ect) like how it was in the old MK games in which they aren't playable.

Okay. I found that that the entire point of the trailer was lost on me due to one overriding thought that ran through my head the whole time it was playing:

What's up with that stupid chest tattoo?

If it's like MKII/U-MK3, then yes, you would have to know the combos of all the other characters when you transform in to them. The transformation only works for a limited time, but you can also use the other characters' Fatalities, Babalities, etc.

He was a great character to play if you were familiar with the other characters, but he was by no means overpowered, as you also had to memorize double or triple the button combos for transforming into the other characters, on top of his regular moves.

well at least he changes forms again. For like 4 games he couldn't and it made no sense because he would in a trailer.

I just might get this one. I never really was into MK and haven't really played much of them since MK3, but this one looks(story-wise) to be getting back to its roots.

I'm going to take it that you haven't played one of the first three Mortal Kombat games, considering when you were born.

Shang Tsung was the last opponent to beat the first MK, and he could change into any of the fighters he wanted. I never really got to play MK2, but I did play MK3. In MK3, Shang Tsung is a playable character from the start, and if you know the movements you can change into whatever character you want.

Edit: Crap, my slow typing got me ninja'd.

And then you had to find the time to transform! Any opponent worth his weight in salt knew that once you started hitting directional buttons, they had to get on you to stop you from pulling off the combination to switch.

Someone is obviously new to Mortal Kombat. Shang Tsung has been able to transform into all other fighters since he was first playable (well, he was always able to do it, but YOU can too since MK2)
You don't need to know, but it helps. However its not that hard. Its more an issue of knowing HOW to change into who you want. In Trilogy, I could only ever become Raiden, Cyrax, or sometimes Kung Lao...
