As a Jedi, you must craft your own lightsaber at level 10. That is all you need to know.
confirmed: Bioware can write better than Lucas can.
That's why I'm waiting for Bioware to make a damn SW: KOTOR movie!....or any SW movie would due just fine XD.

I feel this game will be the nail in the coffin for Bioware.
Just a gut feeling.
I dont know ANYONE whos actually interested in even giving this a glance.
I don't know anyone who actually likes WoW or Call of Duty. Does that make it bad or unpopular?

BioWare plans to make it more individualistic which kind of undermines the point of an MMO.
What? I mean seriously WHAT THE FUCK! You aren't high, drunk isn't it, maybe exhausted? I cannot see any reason why someone would think all players need to look and behave the same to be an MMO. Lack of individualism is a blight on MMO's right up there with shitty quality. Know why people in WoW love mounts so much? IT SETS THEM OUT! Says "hey i am different; i earned this and i get to be different" that's why so many bust a piston when Blizzard thinks of bringing back an old mount.

The point of MMO's is to be social while gaming and tackle the game with friends while living in that world. Allowing players to be more individual is not harmful to the MMO and if trust me; if all MMOs made you as cookie cutter as possible the genre would have died YEARS ago.

Whats the point in playing an MMO and creating a bond to a character all your own when he is exactly like the poor bastard you just passed in town?
I think you misunderstood me, that is not the aspect of individualism I was referring to. From what I've gathered, which I read long ago (why I included "please correct me" in case I was wrong) Bioware intends to have dungeons and raids be individual, as in anti-social and separated from groups. What I don't mean by too individualistic is cookie-cutter specs with cookie cutter gear, what I do mean is that (if what I read long, long ago (but in this galaxy) is accurate) it undermines the social and group mechanism that are why people play MMOs.

Also thank you for your terribly snotty post based on your misinterpretation. I always love reading such asinine posts.

Why is it with these progression trailers that it seems to always be between either a dps or a tank?
Mostly because healing skills generally aren't that flashy to watch, I'd imagine - but you'll notice the commando does use a healing ability in this video. The advanced classes are generally dps/healer vs dps/tank. The recent exception among these trailers was the sith warrior, which has no healing tree.

A lot of the healing trees were added in more recently, which is another reason you don't see them in the earlier progression trailers.

I agree, I looked up the 2 branches each class has and most of them are either DPS or tank in one form or another. Definitely unimpressed.
That's not true. 6 out of the 8 classes have a healing tree.
Well if no one cared for the healer class, then it would not exist so there should be someone who would like that, and with regards to your responce to harkwell we mean specifically the specialisations, of which there are two options and have so far all been either more damage or more armour.
I suppose I'm not entirely clear on what are you referring to when you say "specializations", if you are not referring to the skill trees within the advanced classes.

These trailers are just showing off the advanced classes in general, not their specific trees. I don't watch these expecting to see a wide variety of healing skills to be shown off considering that the trailer is focused on armor designs...there's really only so many times you can show healing abilities before people get the point. These trailers are meant to show differentiation between classes and advanced classes, not that nearly all classes can heal.

I don't think Bioware cares too much about how buggy the second KOTOR was since they did not develop it.

If I do pick up the game, I will probably be a soldier. That way, I can progress to become a Republic Commando.
Now RC was one of the most enjoyable games out for the original Xbox - and, yeah, I'd probably be going with a trooper for that same 'cool factor'.

They don't like the game (that isn't released yet) because the unfinished animations are not finished (shock horror)
Dude. You do not put unfinished animations in a trailer. A trailer needs to present what the game has to offer. You don't make the game look like some wonky piece of shit and expect people to buy it. Besides, animations aren't made IN PARTS. By all we have going so far, these will be the final animations before launch.
Isn't that what Blizzard did with Diablo 3?Halfbaked ingame animations as trailers...
Half baked ingame animations with a 19 minute gameplay video, demonstration of multiple named skills with distinct effects on different enemy types, a full demonstration of the environment and its uses in combat, a full fledged boss fight and further explanation of how you can expand and make your abilities unique.

The trailer looks good as long as you ignore what it was demonstrating. Its ok the animations are choppy, that not what it was about. Its ok the combat looked like it just consisted of clicking on inert enemies and using a skill every once in a while, they'll fix that later. Its ok that the AI didn't know how to do anything but stand still and shoot, that's not important now. Its ok it didn't show mission structure besides a guy shooting a computer console and then running away, they'll work on that later. Its ok that it didn't show any RPG elements or actual use of named abilities, that's for later. Its ok it didn't show any level design but a valley and a place with chest high walls, the level design team is still working on it.

So what did the trailer show? It showed that you can specialize in 2 different trees, both apparently capable of tanking and dealing damage, with 1 heal ability. It showed that shooting things happens. It showed that the game might actually exist. That's about it.
Whoa there, dude. The difference is that Diablo 3 is already in beta and KOTOR isn't.

The Trooper does look more interesting than I thought it would, but it doesn't make me want to play a Sith Inquisitor any less. Force Lightening here I come!

Still not a good idea from a marketing perspective, which is a very important thing to consider when making trailers. Fact is, no matter how much I want to love this game, it doesn't really put it into a good light, especially considering the stakes that we're talking about here. This game is such a humongous investement, they can't afford to screw up important marketing tools like trailers.

ive still yet to hear or see anything about this game to interest me...these trailers seem to be showing off little more than choppy animations and special effects...i dont think anyone is interested in this game for the graphics. on that subject, i still cant get over the "stylized" graphics; its kind of important for MMOs to be visually varied and appealing to help stave off the monotony, but im already sick of TOR's environments and models from previews. i might be fine if they actually went for an old republic style to the graphics like the comics, but frankly it reminds me of that awful CG star wars kids show.

hey, beta players, tell me how this game plays in relation to other MMOs...and if lightsabers still look like soda cans.

It's hardly like they've shown many healing skills.

I was so looking forward to this game until they began releasing trailers. I am disappointed in Bioware. The KotOR games were great (Although the second was just about the buggiest thing I've ever played).

[b[What happened?[/b]
EA happend... They buy companies that make good games as they have been for the last decade, then make those companies create new games that are focus grouped shit that's got too much crammed in to try and appeal to everyone and heavily influenced by execs... Like that in-game commercial in dragon age, any DLC or hell, Dragon-age 2 being a hack-n-slash instead of an RPG like the original. I'm probably being too optomistic about TOR.

Bioware is dead. It's now "EA Bioware".

Exactly my point - there's a reason for that.
Surely there are lots of healers who would want to see it. If they are putting something in a game it should be worth gaving and thus should be shown of.

Color me uninterested. I was really hyped for this game, and while I do like what I'm seeing, other games on the horizon make me more interested (such as Guild Wars 2). This trailer did nothing for me, the combat rather reminds me of Galaxies (which was a good game until SOE ruined it) and I really didn't like the combat in SWG, so eh I dunno.

Okay, so maybe it's because I'm a Bioware fanboy, but I thought these trailers looked extremely good.

People are compaining about the animations, but I think these are some of the best I've seen in any MMO. You have to remember that they can't make this game with the graphics power of Mass Effect, they need to be able to release this to a variety of people, and most don't have gaming pc's.

I'm really psyched, and the Vanguard is BADASS!

Sith: 'zappyzappy'
Trooper: "Go away, *****!" 'Stab-shot combo'

Um... yes, it did show that. Because it's just to show off some of what each class can do. They do have a trailer where they take on a mission. I think it's called Taral V. Maybe you should watch that.
