Also, it was missing two great houses and a whole landmass, and the original graphics were not great. Some spells were largely useless and the fact that polearms were not attached to any classes meant nobody ever used them, despite the fact that they were cool.

Though not as much as Oblivion, it had a lot of bugs and you'd be lucky if it told you what caused its latest CTD. Oh, and no manual blocking.

Meh, I mostly use enchanted weapons anyway, which do affect Daedra. Then I moved up to Daedric... no problem.

Saying the game has a learning curve is an understatement. Coming from a background of FPS games from DOOM to Half-Life to Day of Defeat, Team Fortress, Battlefield and Unreal Tournament I figured I had the "Aim, fire and kill guy" thing down quite well... yet S:SoC is fiendishly difficult, made even more so by your starting gear being complete shit and then being thrown into several missions with tons of heavily armed MOB's.

Bullets do not go where you point, all of the starting weapons are complete and utter trash and it is so amazingly easy to die. You can not take on groups of guys in the beginning, you have to pick them off with the combat knife because using the starter pistol is suicide.

The game also opens up with a whole bunch of needless and dull as dirt fetch quests which give the starting player a pretty poor first taste of the game and the quests.

Oh... and if you do everything you are supposed to do, follow every quest as its given and do not deviate from the set path... you lose the game.

You have to break a quest line and make several deviations near the end of the game to see the true ending.
Agreed. The first mission is 'Kill the guys in the farmhouse'. There's at least six of them, they have Shotguns and body armour and you have a tiny pistol. I don't know anyone who didn't get owned the first time they attempted it; the learning curve is basically: 'You fail. try harder' until you get the hang of it. Would have been nice to have been eased into the combat mechanics a little easier.

And there are broken quests everywhere. And sections where it's very easy to progress, but get into a state of, 'Shit, no more ammo' and have to run all the way back to where you were two hours ago to avoid getting merked arbitrarily. And the 'anomaly' RPG element part isn't explained very well (if at all) - I actually completed my first playthrough basically ignoring them! And yeah, you do sort of have to subvert what the game seems to want you to do in order to get the 'true' ending.

This is making it sound like the game is completely broken, but it's not. It just doesn't take pity on the player or hold your hand through the hard bits. You can't run through it mindlessly like you can with COD or HALO, which is what makes it so much more of a rewarding experience.

EverQuest and World of Warcraft, for requiring the players to raid to see any worthwhile storyline content. I love those games/gameworlds to death, but I'll never be a raider. I just don't enjoy the hectic chaos that is raiding.

Breath of Fire 3 - The master system is really tedious... you need to read a strategy guide to really understand it, and I don't like studying strat guides so..

Breath of Fire 4 - the new dragon forms looks like crap. Dragons should NOT look like insects.

Morrowind - the game freezes too much.

Oblivion - the game freezes too much.

Fallout 3 - the game freezes too much.

New Vegas - the game is an unplayable glitchy mess that encourages you to ignore that VATS exists. Because the Fallout engine was so good at real time shooting to begin with..

Bioshock1&2 - the combat never feels 'right' in these games, enemies are more annoying than fun to kill, and the constantly immersion breaking radio broadcasts are extremely annoying.

Systemshock 2 - respawning enemies. otherwise, a perfect game.

Starcraft: the map editor was too basic and was very glitchy, triggers would often NOT perform what they were supposed to, timed events would not register at the right timing, etc.

Final Fantasy 3 - only available on the nintendo DS, otherwise a great game

Pokemon Red/Blue - see above, replace ds with previous handheld version

Ugh. I like too many games. Sorry if I broke the rules OP, its just torture to ask me to pick just one game. I could have made this list go on forever.

Edit: Oh :O it had to be done, but for me:

Deadspace 1 & 2 perfect games with no flaws (for me) :)

OMG YES!!!! Legion is my BOY! (err... robot, ro-boy?) Anyway, he just reeks of bad-ass-ery and I swear he baths in awesome-sauce. It aggervates the hell out of me that I cant have him earlier, and If I do rush through the main quest to get him and then start the loyalty missions the IFF gets installed before i'm ready and I loose my entire crew (and I like my crew)
So yeah, no Legion for me ... sucks ass.
