It's damn fun. Just been playing Soldier. Love the thumper.
Still, 42k xp to unlock a new weapon? Fuck that shit yo.
Ha, if you really want to scream at your screen, look how much the BR for the pathfinder costs. They might have changed in by now but when I was playing a month ago it was priced at 100.000 XP.

meh I played the beta it was awful. There was like 3 classes you could play for free you had to either earn the good ones or buy them and all the interesting classes you had to do that for. I don't see how that benefits the game company I'm not going to buy a class for a game straight out of the box and I'm not going to invest enough time in the game playing classes that don't suit my play style to earn the ones that do.

I ended up uninstalling the game the same week I got it pretty much.
The classes are cheap as hell. It takes you like - what - maybe 2 hours of playing and finishing 10th every round to unlock one? Really not that bad.

They have to make money somehow.
Ya I'm not that good and I almost got enough to unlock one of the cheaper classes. Also there's a facebook promo right now where you get 250 gold for liking their page. Link to that:

They changed the way you unlock classes since the beta, they made classes much cheaper than the beta and upgrades for each are more expensive.

Every game is no longer a solder/pathfinder fest, there is much more diversity.

I guess the people who find the game hard didn't play the old tribes, or old arena shooters from before the turn of the century? They were all really fast; not like these snore-fest modern war games.

Been playing for a few days now, and I will be reviewing it probably sometime next week. It's somehow managed to hit this great intersection of being nostalgic and yet also feeling fresh. Basically nothing else plays like Tribes, and it would be noteworthy if for nothing else.

I'm currently a huge fan of the Infiltrator. I just love sneaking around disrupting, setting traps and backstabbing, but I've still pulled more than my fair share of flag captures off, especially if the defenses are really stacked as I can get close enough to see the best route to come in.

I'd enjoy it more if I didn't suck so much at it. Also I feel like a fool for investing in the sentinel, the sniper rifles are weaksauce.

Playing the tech is the only way I feel useful in that game.

EDIT: Oh, go by "Gildedyak" in game.

Hey I played all Tribes games back in the day but the skill level goes absurdly high, to get back into the "blue plate special" groove there is some intense shit to figure out.

Been playing since the fairly early stages of the Beta, tis an excellent game. With the release version they also finally fixed a glitch I'd been experiencing as well leaving me with a silky smooth gaming experience. Even got a nice badge and some extra points for beta participation, which is nice!

Highly recommend it to anyone into the fps genre. I use the name 'Carthane' in-game.

You probably won't need one. I have a shitty $500 dollar laptop and it runs smoothly on low (which is the second lowest setting).

That's who I want to buy next but he's like 14k, and I just blew all my money on the sniper (which is a really bad class).

It's a pretty solid game. Physics are fairly wonky. I really hope they work out their custom servers soon.

I derive great joy from watching cowboys splatter on impact with my mighty frame.

Snipers have the highest potential to completely and utterly dominate a game.

They are also the easiest class to completely, utterly suck with.

Use low sensitivity/DPI (a mouse with variable DPI buttons is handy in general in this game) and try position yourself so that enemy cappers are moving towards or away from you, not moving horizontally relative to you.

Really liking the juggernaut, starting to get the hang of skiing with him and his badass spinfusor. I like how I can take out 4 people and still have like half health because I kill most people in only one or two shots. Just finished a match where my team didn't want to defend the generator, that was a shit show, the enemy had 3 people camping the generator so my team lost terribly :(

If you want to add me I go by Issurru :D

Ive been playing it since the closed beta and I love it. Its an amazing skill based game that deserved a reboot (I played tribes 2 competitively a long time ago). Ive got a nice CTF team formed too, so I expect to be playing against a lot of people that dont really know tribes at all.

For me, pathfinder is my favorite class. I usually Flag run one with a bolt launcher, thrust pack, and impact grenades. So I can usually get in, grab the flag, then rocket out at 250+ mph before the defense realize what happened. That feeling of exhiliration as you run a flag in such difficult conditions is hard to match

I think the best part of this game is that its free to play, meaning there really is no reason not to try it out

They have their uses, but they are not the one-shot killers most games put snipers into. The Sentinal needs to manage a number of things in order to be effective. They can toss down their jammers at key points to reveal Infiltrators. They tend to have the best views of the map and thus should be using the Left Alt to actually spot enemies beyond normal sensor ranges. Even if you can't kill someone coming in, you keep them from regenerating which makes them easier to finish off when they have the flag.

Also a lot of Sentinals never go on the offensive. They can clear the defenders flag area of items and people, even if it's just driving them off to repair. Which makes it that much easier for your cappers to grab the flag.

"Scout" would have been a more appropriate class title I think. I just can't get over how underpowered they feel though, I mean EVERY other class can dish out better damage and have an easier time of it too. They either need to up the damage or the fire rate.

Ya I agree. I think they are a very useful class and the jammer is really good, but for the difficulty associated with actually hitting someone, I think they should do a bit more damage. I mean there are head shots (I don't know if they are insta-kills I got one by chance so I wasn't looking), but those are really hard to hit. IMO it probably also has something to do with me not being as used to playing at such speeds.

Been playing since beta, although I haven't logged on in quite some time - too busy with uni assignments.
Anyway, fun game, and definitely worth checking out if you're into truly fast-paced multiplayer action with lots of sci-fi jetpack goodness. Certainly hasn't lost any charm since the days of Tribes 2. :)

-EDIT-
Also: Damn. Would have loved a free spinfuzor.
