Lost. Lost. Lost. Lost. Lost. Lost. Lost! Lost! Lost! LOST! LOST! LOST! LOST! LOST! LOST!

In case you haven't figured out...I hate Lost. I really hate it with a burning passion. And WHY do I hate it? It's the time-honored excuse of "it makes no fucking sense". Really, it doesn't. I'm honestly convinced that they intended it as a proper "shipwreck" drama, but then the main writer got high and worked in evil smoke and a polar bear, so everyone just went "fuck it" and ran with it, producing the stupidest work of "we pulled it out of our ass!" fiction ever conceived by humanity.

Plus if you make a show this pointlessly complicated and introduce about 2 crucial plot points per episode, but never explain any of them, you're totally isolating new viewers. I get that ALL shows have character arcs and everything, but they're still accessable. I picked up Battlestar Galactica (widely heralded as being weird to newcomers) in Series 3 and still followed it fine until I picked up the past series on DVD to catch up.

But with Lost...half-way through Series 1 I finally bothered to try watching it and was already incapable of following it! I abandoned it thoroughly, then wound up living with 3 big fans of it last year, just when it was starting to end. Regularly I'd sit there while it was on, regularly thinking "what? who? why? when? how?" throughout every episode I saw.

And the fans of annoy me! They approach it with "it's so deep and intelligent." No it isn't! It's the product of a bunch of guys with too big a budget sitting around huffing paint thinner then writing down whatever they think of at the time, and a bunch of network 'yes men' who haven't got the balls to say "no guys, sorry but this is shit and it makes no sense."

And fyi 95% of Lost fans: BEING POINTLESSLY COMPLICATED AND OCCASIONALLY THROWING IN QUASI-RELIGIOUS IDEALS FOR NO REASON DOESN'T MAKE YOUR SHOW DEEP OR INTELLIGENT, IT MAKES IT STUPID, RETARDED AND NONSENSICAL!!!

Oh, and time travel is never a good idea, particularly when a show doesn't even need it to happen!

Here's an idea: "A band of airplane survivors are stranded on a mysterious island after a plane crash. They find themselves hunted by a mysterious force. While being pursued, they meet more survivors. Together, they must survive, escape, and stop what is hunting them." THAT is a show I'd watch! What the Lost writers have created is just pants-on-head retarded.

I'll say Glee for the simple reason that all the musical numbers are pre-recorded. From what I've been forced to sit though, the show plays out like some former theater kid's "I'm cool and rich now" revenge fantasy.
Any 12 year-old with an auto-tune plug-in and a 'tape' of Darrin's Dance Groves can sing like they do. What would actually be impressive (though not at all my tastes) would be seeing the actors sing live to tape. It would actually require effort and talent from the performers......

American idol and Glee, i dont see how they're signed on season after season. then good shows like stargate get canceled wtf is goin on here?!?!
Yes, Stargate really didn't deserve to canceled... Except for Universe, that Battlestar Gallatica wannabe is simply NOT CANON!!!
I'll agree that the first season of Universe sucked. But did you watch the second?? They really started to pick things up and I wish they would have let it go to a 3rd season to give them a chance.

Both of the Doctor Who series. Yes, I said it, I hate the original as well. I'm sorry but I just can't stand the shitty story, effects and characters. Hate me if you will but I stand by my hatred of that shite.

South Park. In particular, any episodes which feature a "moral of the story". Family Guy also does this.

I would say any Simpsons' episode past season, say, 11 or 12, but I'm pretty sure everybody hates those.

Scrubs in particular. I just don't get what people find so funny about it. Everytime Zach Braff shows his face on screen all I can hear is "I'm funny! I really am!!! Laugh at meeeee!!!!". The sad thing is that the majority of the cast of characters are actually pretty funny, but J.D. and Elliot are so painfully unfunny that the show becomes unwatchable.

Other shows I hate almost as much as Scrubs include:
The Simpsons
Lost
How I met your mother
Friends
Glee
Anything CSI
Anything Stargate

Most mainstream TV stuff to me is garbage. There are shows like Dexter, Curb Your Enthusiasm, How I met your Mother etc. which are the exceptions, they keep me coming back.

The one that comes to mind at the moment is Big Bang Theory, which I don't "hate" but find vastly overrated. I occasionally watch it with people when it's on and I'm not doing anything else. But I always felt it's "Nerd/Geek Humour" thing was so forced that it spoils the good parts of the show. It isn't very clever, the pop culture references are always really obviously spelt out and a lot of it is really overused. It seems like the equivalent of a hipster making a "Cake is a Lie" joke to me.

So it's an alright show when there's nothing else on, but I can never get past my criticisms with it. Every show has it's flaws, but I find this one to have the potential to be more than a fluff piece sitcom, it could be breaking the mould when all it's doing is convincing people that nerds/geeks are still weird and don't know how to handle shit. I haven't seen all of it, so there's probably exceptions, but the general consensus is that from me.

Every and all reality shows, that is just bottom of the barrel entertainment, if you can call it that.

Lost, sure the first season was awesomely mysterious and freaky, then instead of progressing and unraveling anything they kept adding random mystery till they got bored, the end.

Any CSI series. It's insultingly dumb.

CSI 1 'Hey, I recovered carpet fibers from crime scene. They can used to tell us who the murderer is'

CSI 2 'I know that, I'm a CSI. Why are you explaining that to me?'

CSI 1 '... I don't know.'

Very nearly every TV show, ever. This includes the obvious stuff like Glee, and reality shows, as well as less obvious like Stargate. (Yes, that's right, I don't like Stargate)
It's why I don't have even an antenna plugged in, let alone a cable subscription, and only use my TV to watch stuff from my media server. The very small number of shows I like (Dr. Who, Big Bang Theory, um... um... Firefly?) I put on my media server to watch when I want to. Everything else I can ignore.
