There's an endless number of these but I'll settle for a short list:

- CSI and NCIS and their spin-offs
- The Mentalist
- Lost
- Heroes
- The Simpsons
- Basically every sitcom ever
- Basically every Finnish tv show ever
- Reality-tv in general

And the absolute worst of all, South Park.

Well, I can't really think of anything that I hate that everybody else seems to love.

I tend to like about everything I watch and things that I don't like I really don't notice if they grow fan-bases, unless they get out of hand and need a thrashing.

What I can't stand is people that come late to a series of shows and start with the latest incarnation. Granted that some people might not know that other shows dealing with a subject existed, but once they find out, they should cut themselves off from the latest series and start at the beginning.

The example I'm getting at is Stargate Universe. It is an abomination. The only people that I have heard that said they liked it are people that had never watched Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis. Univerise is of that trend I talked about earlier with the focus more on relationships than the actual Sci-Fi that show is suppose to be about.

SG-1 and Atlantis were proper and awesome Science Fiction shows, they also brought new twists to old classic Science Fiction situations. They have substance. Universe however, has no substance. It is basically a cash in to get more views, though viewers are people that want to say that they watch and like Sci-Fi, but don't actually want watch something that is true Sci-Fi.

I'll agree that the first season of Universe sucked. But did you watch the second?? They really started to pick things up and I wish they would have let it go to a 3rd season to give them a chance.
I thought Universe was just in its mid-season break: 10 episodes 4 to 5 month break, then 10 episodes.

But, I haven't paid attention to news about it, did they cancel it? Please tell my they canceled. I was only staying with it to the end second season to see if it actually picked up and did something relevant. Remember the episode where the Destiny blows up in the Colonel's dream sequence? When that happened, I actually jumped for joy because I thought that maybe the show had been canceled and they ended it with everyone of those people dying. Seriously, there isn't one character on that show that I like, maybe I like just Rush. When Rush is involved it usually has to do with what the show should actually be about, the Stargate and the Ancients.

The only way I can see them salvaging that show, is by removing all the agnst-ridden relationship crap. And just have the all story angles dealing with Sci-Fi stuff.

Look at SG-1, it took several seasons before it seriously dealt with relationships. They knew that with Sci-Fi, relationships should always take a back seat to what the show is really about.

Yes, Stargate really didn't deserve to canceled... Except for Universe, that Battlestar Gallatica wannabe is simply NOT CANON!!!
I hadn't watched SG-1 and Atlantis in awhile when Universe came out, so my mind wasn't totally filled with the canon.

I easily recognize Universe as being crap, but what about it isn't canon? Please tell me, because I need more ammo when trashing it.

Reality TV in all its shapes and forms (as with many predecessors here) and talent shows in all its shapes and forms (it's just a challenge to see how little needs to be said/done before the waterworks start). It's just as well I listen to the News Quiz (a radio show that deserves to be on TV) 'cos it just takes the piss out of both (in a round-about way, but still).

Also, what's the big deal about Lost (again, several others have mentioned). What does it want to be? How many cliched plot devices does it want to insert? May I turn a flamethrower on anyone who considers it a work of art/genius?!

I never tried Stargate Universe and probably never will. It will destroy some of the magic I always felt watching stargate sg-1/stargate atlantis.

I still think it was horrible to cancel Stargate Atlantis in order to promote SGU more. SG-1/SGA did fine running aside from each other. SGA still had a atleast a good 1-2 seasons left but they just had to kill it off.
Don't worry, you aren't missing anything. It took them a season and a half to actually get to a major plot. Which is that the main Scientist guy basically orchestrated just about everything going on in the show, because he wants to find out who created the Universe.

I'll quickly explain about what the rest of the show is about: Boy lusts after girl, girl is in love with air force guy and only considers the boy a friend, girl is now turning into an alien and air force guy is crying because he might have to shoot his girlfriend. Another women had an affair with the commanding officer, was going to have a baby, but it died when she got shot, but in her head she believes that magical space aliens that nobody else can see, took her baby before it died. Oh, and I guess as a ploy to try and keep male viewers watching, they threw in a long distance lesbian relationship.

Basically, sappy drivel.

Other than that, wow, I was not aware that the reason Atlantis was canceled was because of Universe. That is utter bull crap. Somebody needs to be punched for that.

The reason I wasn't in the know, was because my viewership of Atlantis died off around season 3. Not because I didn't like the show, but because I discovered Doctor Who and got sidetracked(DW has become my top favorite show of all time [both old and new series], followed very very closely by Stargate SG-1). I'll pick up where I left off when I get done watching my latest show. I watch everything on my computer. I devote my time to watching every episode of one show at a time and then moving onto the next in my schedule. Right now I am watching Castle, which is awesome. I'll put the rest of Atlantis ahead of the line of everything else after Castle.

Big Bang Theory. Mainly because I find Sheldon incredibly annoying (The whole "awkward person who doesn't understand social conventions" type humor isn't me) with his whiny, pedantic, self-obsessed, nascissistic, egomaniacal, hypochondriac behaviour. Episodes that focus on Leonard are good, but the show is either about OMG LEONARD LYKS PENNI BUT HE R A LOSR or OMG SHELDN IS SO FUNY AN TRYS SO HARD TO UNDRSTAD OTHR PPL. First season, good. Subsequent seasons, boring 90% of the time.

Also, while you'd think I'd like it because it's about nerds, it's usually maths, physics and comic books. Three things that I am wholly uninterested in. Marvel, eat a dick.

CSI: I study science as well, and have to implement many of the techniques they use in a lab, but while my experiments take hours or days and sometime go wrong, CSI can do it in under an hour with a "Who" montage and they automatically get the results they are looking for, which just doesn't happen a lot of the times. My dislike of the show is so bad that my parents have banned me from watching it when I am at their place.

Glee: I'm sorry, but I don't see the appeal in kids singing every two seconds and there is one song that, if I have to hear another rendition of it, I might kill myself. I think the song is called "Journey" or something, but it has become so overplayed that everytime I hear the opening bars to the song I want to curl into a ball and cry. When I heard that they did a remake of Queen's "Somebody to love" I wanted to scream because I keep hearing that now. They turned a great song into something I am sick of, and when I become sick of Queen, it is a sad, sad day.

Ugh. Now I am going to watch "Twin Peaks" or "Law and Order: Criminal intent" to cheer myself up.

There are a number of comedies that have been the top of the ratings that I actively dislike:

Two and a Half Men
Everybody Loves Raymond
Home Improvement
Mad About You

shows like that.

Now, most of my friend circle would agree with my dislike of those shows.
Couldn't agree more. God I hate those shows. And they're everywhere. Also, funny that you'd mention home improvement, didn't that end like 10 years ago? I can't remember seeing it past then (thank god.)

But I also don't really get 30 Rock, and everybody seems to love that.
I quite like 30 rock though. Even if you don't like it, you have to admit it's better than those other ones, which actively try to insult your intelligence.
Outright Villany, I freely admit that 30 Rock is in a different category than those other shows. Those other shows are...it's just like you said. They are insulting to my intelligence. Plus, they generally also offensive to me. 30 Rock is nothing like that at all. I'm not offended by its existence. I think it is a good show, for some reason it just doesn't tickle my funny bone. But I don't have anything against it. Two and Half Men, on the other hand...

Now that yo all mention it, most reality tv. I like Pawn Stars and Dirty Jobs, and that is about it...Well, maybe a little of Ice Road Truckers.

I was never big on Family Guy. It never just clicked.

I can't stand reality shows and I have hated the genre since survivor first reared it's ugly head. The is not to say that I don't like the documentary style ala Nature of Things or even some of the shows on HGTV. I just can't stand the fake competitions or the over hyped trashtastic circuses. We are better then that.

I also don't like South Park. I didn't like Beavis and Butthead or Ren and Stimpy back in the day either so this isn't just age talking. I just don't like the crude/ stupid cartoons I think.

Yea it was canceled :( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1286039/news

I didnt know they were going to let it finish up season 2, so I guess its a win - win in our case ;)

P.S: Because Universe was canceled, its going to either halt or stop the stargate atlantis movie and this could be it for the stargate franchise. Guess we're going to have to wait 20-30 years for them to do a reboot of the series. It could be as good as Dr. Who, like with the updated special effects...right?

Glee. I want to cast it into the deepest pits of hell.
Also, reality TV is the cancer that's killing the medium. See: Jersey Shore.

All of them.

No that's a lie; I do like the occasional trash. But most of them. Most of them are bad.

Also, contrary to a lot of the sacks who probably haven't given it a fair trial, Glee is on par with most shows. Give it a chance, you may or may not become a more enlightened person. [sub]chances are you won't, but what have you got to lose[/sub]

From imdb: "Syfy will not only move the show off the dead-end that was Tuesday night, a night that fans blame for the low ratings that led to its cancellation"

The people that made this installment really know nothing about what will bring in or effect the ratings. If they did any reasonable digging into why the ratings were dropping, they would have figured out that it wasn't the night it was on, but instead it was the horrible writing and storytelling that was nothing like SG-1 and Atlantis. They seriously pissed off the core fans of the show. If a franchise does that, of course it isn't going to get the ratings to continue. The show could have easily been saved if they had dumbed down the relationships or removed them altogether from the show. The fans were looking for another classic like the previous two, classic Sci-Fi, what they got was an angsty space soap opera.

I hate to sound sexist here, but it felt like a woman that had no experience with writing Sci-Fi wrote a large portion of each episode, that her only other experience in writing was on a soap opera or writing cheesy fantasy romance novels.

If they had taken a proper poll and asked the core fans of the franchise, why they didn't watch the show. I guarantee 99.9% of them would have said that it was because the atrocious and sickeningly bad writing. Oh and also because they filmed it like Battlestar Galactica was filmed. The filming was crappy and grainy. Whoever directed the cameras had never heard of using close ups sparingly.

In the end, if you want to blame somebody for it being canceled, blame the people that created it in the first place. I couldn't believe it when I heard that the reason Stargate Atlantis had been canceled was to promote the pile of dog crap that was Universe.

On the coming back in a few years like Doctor Who(which really never died, it was on the radio. Tv-wise, it was only off the air for 15 years), if they want to bring back Stargate in another series, they better make it like SG-1 was or it will be a major flop like Universe was. But it really is impossible for anything to beat Doctor Who, it will be having its 48th birthday come the 23rd of November.

Glee. My god, it's just terrible. I watched the first episode while sleeping over at a friend's house, because his family makes a point of previewing most new TV shows to see which ones are good. The characters were all totally unlikable, the music was annoying, the "jokes" weren't funny, and they tried to cram what seemed like a season's worth of plot into a single hour long episode. It was bizarre.
