the twilight universe could make for a good game setting, the vampires are interesting and the expanded setting hinted at in the final book seems like a good place to start. maybe set it after the fourth book and play as a volturi agent sent in to infiltrate the cullen's coalition with an eye to destabilising it, then having a change of heart. play it like a more sedate prototype set in a rural town. hell, i'd play that no problems! or like a human set on immortality who has to track down a vampire and manipulate them into biting them (you know, like bella!)
A wide array of vampires with different talents that reflect their pre-vampiric lives would probably translate very well into a videogame setting.
And given how bloody brutal the Volturi are, it could actually be a pretty intense Devil May Cry-esque game.
Of course, to sell the most copies, they'd have to do something with the Cullens, so there goes that idea.
(Protip: In the Twilight Universe, the Cullens are by far the least interesting thing therein.)
as i say i reckon an open worldy prototype thing'd go down well, plenty of manouverability and those stealth kills redesigned slightly, glittering in direct sun alerts people and you've got to rendezvous with more vampires. seriously, thinking on it prototype's engine makes so much sense! the backgrounds could make for a good class-based single player, do you go for a telepathic one who can see people through walls and how antagonised they are, or do you go for one who can rewind time to see the future, or someone who can lower a guard's heat? so even the cullen's skill set can be made into a good game.
drinking animals restores your health and ability energy but drinking people gives you more and unlocks your top tier abilities. drinking humans changes your scent and eye colour though, pacifist vampires are slower to trust you.
kind of prototype meets splinter cell: rogue agent! now you see? this game sounds awesome! i sincerely would play it and if i could i'd mod it.
