Uhm guys....

Another one's coming soon... [http://www.usatoday.com/life/movies/news/2008-12-16-new-moon-release-date_N.htm?csp=34]
Not like anyone wasn't seeing that, seeming as Twilight was a Box Office smash.

Not that the movie deserved it.

I'm really tired of these vampire crazes that portray them as romantic, trouble, emo creatures of the ambiguously-sunsetting-twilight.

Nothing in the world can make me watch this movie, after all the reviews and opinions of it and its book series. And I'm not going to watch a vampire movie until we have one where the vampire rips the throat out of our young heroine in the first five minutes and spends the rest of the flick gloating about how friggin' evil he is, so evil that sunlight melts him and he's some emaciated, fanged, red-eyed corpse because he has no soul.

But, I digress. I enjoyed the review. Quick, concise, and tells me the movie doesn't need to be viewed to know it sucks.

I really have learned to hate the whole pretty-boy vampire thing, the idea of it offends my own personal view of what a vampire should be. A sadistic, maniacal killing-machine. When someone tries to put one of these angsty twerps next to vampires like Dracula, I throw up a little bit.

I thought Iron Man was good, but, I F#%$ING LOVED the Dark Knight. I wouldn't even put them in the same ball park. So I now know that I should get a second opinion of this film before refusing to see it.

(This is not to put down your review but it might just not be accurate for me)
The problem with The Dark Knight for me is that it just wasn't fun (and if I really wanted to be bitchy, the pacing wasn't brisk enough to merit the rather indulgent run time). I predominantly like movies that are fun and enjoyable to watch, and The Dark Knight just didn't do it for me. I can appreciate all genres and styles of movies, but comic book heroes for me should always be larger than life bombastic entertainment. I didn't like The Dark Knight because it was moody, pop philosophical, and full of itself.

Don't bother waving comic book citations and source material in front of me because I really couldn't care less. Adaptations should be unique and open to interpretation (see: The Bourne trilogy). If a film based on a book follows it to the letter, then what's the point?

In conclusion, I liked Iron Man better because it was fun. An excellent bit of entertainment from start to finish with strong acting, sharp visuals, and a great script.

Everyone here is wrong, Twilight is not the worst movie adaptation of a book...
...Eragon is.
I dunno...I thought "Goblet of Fire" was pretty rushed....
You apparently didn't see the movie AND read the book... of Eragon, not Goblet of Fire.

GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

That book! That movie! That...that whole FRANCHISE drives me INSANE! It makes me want to become the Incredible Hulk so I can smash things and not have to pay for it! It's so pathetic! Honestly!

Each of the characters has the depth of a tea spoon and none of them can think of ANYTHING besides each other - the hallmark of an abusive relationship. I suppose Edward has an excuse - he's stuck being 17 forever. But for Bella, it's inexcusable!

The whole think makes me want to punch small children, but considering that's illegal.

Does anyone realize how much of a stalker Edward is? He sneaks into Bella's room and WATCHES HER WHILE SHE SLEEPS.
It sickens me.

You are correct...I am starting Eragon as soon as we break for Christmas.

Somehow, this movie was number two, out of the top five movies of 2008, on the 'Today' show...

Number one was 'The Dark Knight.'

I actually wrote my final paper in my 'Media in America 499' class on how wretched this book/movie was and got a full grade. PROFIT!

Meh. I enjoyed it. At least it tried something different. I've never thought of sparkle vampires, or other things that Meyer created in her realm. Granted, Bella and Edward annoy me, but the other characters (especially Carlisle and Esme and the family members close to Edawrd) were enjoyable and pretty unique. The other three books are much more compelling (with the exception I suppose of Breaking Dawn, which is pretty much on the same level as Twilight).

I think what most people hate about Twilight is that it turned Vampires into something other than horrible creatures of the night. Well, that's at least what my classmates tell me anyway. I think it also received a fair amount of criticism because of it's "emo" Romeo and Juliet-like nature, and most people hate "emo" kids (or people that try to emulate them), and anything they like is automatically disliked.

Then again, I might just be totally wrong, really naive and have really poor standards when it comes to literature and film. (which is probably the case, although I don't put this in my top lists anywhere, and have better works far far ahead of them).

Basically, ever Harry Potter film so far was pretty bad.

And I agree with a7r0p05. Twilight is horrible because the book was as well. At least Eragon was readable.

At least it tried something different.
Just because it's new or different doesn't make it good.

While I have to admit that the movies were merely montages of the books, I would have to say that I did enjoy the first three movies nonetheless.

He was right in saying that the movies suddenly went sour from the fourth, mainly because the lighthearted charm had been kicked, and there was really no demographic left to watch them.

Here's to hoping that the sixth movie works out, even if I hate Daniel Radcliffe with a vengeance.

While I haven't watched the movies, I actually liked a few of the minor and supporting characters. Bella and edward, however, make me retch.

Good review, and only about 3 people on this site would disagree with you.
Make that 4. I thought the movie was pretty good. It's an interesting take on vampires. I haven't read the books yet, but my wife has and I'll probably read them eventually. I'm a little confused why the OP refers to Edward as wimpy. In my opinion, having the strength and ability to rip people to a bloody pulp, but choosing not to do it out of a sense of compassion, or disgust at being a monster, is much more interesting than the typical vampire story. Really though, I guess all you people calling it the worst movie ever made have never seen Gigli...
He's an angsty, bipolar little *****. Edward Cullen is SO poorly written, SO unbelievable, SO nauseatingly atrocious as a character that I want to rip my appendix out with a spork whenever I hear his name.
I'm tempted to post the Twilight rant I posted elsewhere, but I don't think it's very good.

Oh, and you guys want real vampires? I Am Legend, Richard Matheson.
