WHY THE HELL DO WE NEED ANOTHER THREAD DISCUSSING TWILIGHT! CAN WE PLEASE STOP DOING THIS AS I AM GETTING BORED! >.<

Sorry for the capitals people but i really am tired of listening to Twilight fans or critics. I thought people were begining to forget about it but seemingly not. For goodness sake its a film. A fictional girly type of film which has a large amount of fans. Constructed of sparkle vampires who avoid human blood and a human who happens to fall in love with one... Yes it has faults but jesus don't all films? Yes ok so it might not have been well written, not all books are. The actors/actresses could have been better... So could many other film characters. Its the same any where you look. Why should Avatar or Twilght be so bloody famous for being slagged off. I do not care if you don't like it... I DO! I LOVE IT IN FACT!.

Jesus, why must we continuously talk about it. To have everyone repeat themselves over and over again to say whether they liked it or not... Im sick and tired of it. You wonder why you get some dickheads saying they are bored of the Escapist. As much as right now it isn't too bad and i do love coming on here, i am getting tired of all the repeat threads, especially when its blatantly obvious that they have been done before. (Do not kill me for saying this, im merely pointing out a slightly obvious fact which is what some have been saying in previous "rants" including that idot the other day).

Can't we find a new topic of interest and stop ranting on about things that are over a year old now?? God even if we did New Moon instead (for only one thread), but Twilight AGAIN?! Why?

*sighs and collapses from angry, tired exhaustion* Rant over... Please try listening to it.

Huh, good point. I myself am peeved that shows I liked from my youth are being replaced with, well, crap, but is it really my place to complain about it? (Especially since I'm way past the age when watching cartoons are accetable).

Also, I don't care much for Twilight, but if that's how you feel, than that's fine by me.

I agree totally though I will admit I enjoyed Twilight. It's a nice wee story. But everyone puts that down to the fact that I'm a teenage girl. Please spare me the embarrassment of lumping me in with the obsessive teenage girls.

There is nothing wrong with the books or the films. Maybe the writing is a bit bad and theres plot holes but if you look beyond that, its a pretty interesting story.

The difference between Harry potter and twilight is that HP is an adventure story about three school-age wizards saving the world through a combination of hard work, luck and teamwork. Twilight is about a dumb, selfish ***** that falls in love with a dude that doesn't want her because he's pretty and then makes everyone she knows miserable so she can live her idyllic fantasy life.

Well, the squeaky wheel gets the oil. And you are NEVER too old to watch cartoons! Or play video games! Or like stuffed animals, or draw comics, or wear cool hats, or [insert obligatory thingie here], etc etc...

I see nothing wrong with wanting decent entertainment for our youth. It'd be better for them, and it also keeps them busy.

And honestly, complain and moan about how twilight percieves vampires as much as you want, vampires have always been kind of a silly concept. What with their capes, and blood sucking, and turning into bats, and always living in giant secluded mansions/castles and all... They really don't initially come off as much more serious than mummies, or goblins, or unicorns, at least not to me.
Yes, but they sparkle in the sun.
They're supposed to die
To be fair Dracula didn't die in the sun.
But then again he's fucking Dracula.

Personally, I think Twilight is great... material to parodize and make fun off because of how freakin absurd it really is. If you hate Twilight, I suggest reading Nightlight: A Parody by The Harvard Lampoon. It proves that when you break it down, the entire story is about how important it is to have a boyfriend, regardless of how much he is nauseated by you.

Well that's nice.

I myself hate it and its entirety.

They can all go fuck themselves, but I don't worry about it too much because I know this will be over in about a year and these shitty actors will then fade from the spotlight.
ehhh the only one with talent is Kirsten its just she doesnt have much to work with in twilight think about it bella has no personality what so ever.

I never thought Twilight was that bad, it's just becoming cool to say you hate it. I mean, sure, the writer is awful, I mean just not good at all. She doesn't have anything but badly thought out stock characters and a Mary Sue. However, Twilight has a charm about it, like it's not really serious.

If you can handle a bit of teen drama (which I personally can't stand), and you've ever watched Dawson's Creek or one of those shows, you'll like Twilight. That what it is; Dawson's Creek with vampires and werewolves. I didn't like Dawson's Creek, Gossip Girl, Degrassi or any of the other ones, but don't you agree they would have been significantly improved if one of the characters got mauled by a werewolf? What if Dawson could run really fast and punch monsters in the face? Wouldn't you think to yourself, "heck, maybe I can watch this show"?

I was convinced to read the series by my teenage cousin who recommended it to me when I told her I loved the Harry Potter books. I still don't see the relation but I'm glad I read them.

It's good to see vampires being heterosexual again. All the vampires in the books coming out when I was her age were a little gay which was fine until it became a trend.

Also, while the first two books were pretty tedious, the third one was pretty cool and the last one was just plain trippy with the superhero vampire house party, Nessie, and Dracula himself.

I only dislike Twilight as a book/movie series. And I wouldn't call Stephanie Meyer an author any sooner than I'd call my cats ferocious.

However, both Meyer and my cats share something in common. They're both in it for the "smarter" reason.

My cats fake affection for food, water, pee breaks, and my sister's hair if they meowed cutely enough.

Meyer made a book to get money, money, and more money that wouldn't stop flowing. She sought out the most devout audience, found out what they wanted, and delivered with a bit too much enthusiasm. But she did, and it worked.

This depresses me as a person who wants to get into writing, but for someone who might want to get into business they would see this as genius.

I have too much integrity to like Twilight for this reason, but I understand why it could be respected. I'm just not one to appreciate such underhanded tactics.

I'm totally neutral when it comes to Twilight. I know several people who hate it, but my mom, sister, and many of their friends are fans. Because of this, I've decided that I'm not going to associate myself with it in any way. I won't know if it's bad or good, so I won't have a reason to like it or hate it. This way, everybody's happy. I prefer action-style vampire lore anyway. Stuff such as Blade, Underworld, etc. I also heard Daybreakers was really good, even though I didn't think it would be at first. A friend of mine who saw it said it was the best modern depiction of vampires he's seen in a long time.

There's no substance to Twilight. There's nothing great about it at all. The main characters are so damn one deminsional that it's sickening. And Bella is being tossed about by monsters and is always submissive. How do girls find this anywhere remotely appealing? Oh, is it because the vampires are fairies who sparkle and glow in the sunlight? Or is it because the "good" monsters are described as being so impossibly beautiful and that they can do no wrong? Ugh! Seriously, this whole series is a marketing monstrosity. There are better alternatives to this garbage. Go rent "Let the Right One In". It is a great movie about teenage vampires that act like vampires and have actual depth to them and are far from the perfect little fairies that inhabit Twilight. Other alternatives include Hellsing Ultimate, Dracula, Nosferatu, and The Lost Boys. Seriously, Twilight sucks. I cannot emphasize this enough.

Hmmm... Your argument is lacking in some areas, and I got confused when you started switching topics, but I just want to input my own opinion, also having actually read the books.

I'm an avid reader, literally picking up any book I come across, and this was one of those books. I was in the library one day, before the series was popular mind you (I think it was actually before the second one even came out...) and I was looking around for some books. The lady there knows me because I'm there quite often, so she pulled out this book for me. It was Twilight. She knew I'd read whatever came in as highly recommended so she told me this was such, even though it was a girlie book. I figured, what the hell, I have nothing really better to do, so I checked it out. I'm a pretty damn fast reader, so I read it, and thought it was decent. However I felt like it was missing something, and I figured I missed some crucial sentence or paragraph. So, I re-read it. As someone has already said, this was a mistake. The first time, it was passable as a good book simply because it was something new, and actually reasonably interesting. But the second time it's in my nature to read more into it seeing as I know the story. It really wasn't that terrific, I would say about a C+/B- if I had to rate it. Then the hype started... after returning the first one, I went back to my normal readings, most of which are way higher level than Twilight. Then the second one came out, and I figured, alright, I'll see if she was able to fix some stuff she messed up in the first one. She really didn't. The second was better than the first, but not by much. The third and fourth continued to disappoint, especially the final book in the series. I was expecting some amazing climax to such a highly regarded series, and there wasn't one...
Especially with all the powers that had just been revealed, I was expecting some sort of epic battle, instead I got jack shit.

Overall, and I'm looking at this from a totally objective level, I really wasn't a fan. And while the books were passable, I watched the first 20 minutes of the movie with my sister, and it was even worse! Again, from an objective point of view, the acting sucked, and the writing didn't follow the book at all. I'm convinced that the girls going to watch it don't even listen to what's happening or really watch the movie, they just look at Patterson (Who ironically is Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter. I enjoyed watching him die immensely).
