hugging is not gay, telling your mate you're going to give him a hug for his birthday is pretty gay though.
Pretty much this, with a couple of my friends the hug has turned into a full on flying tackle (often accompanied with shouts of "you big Irish bastard!" ) but that's part of the exuberance and fun, no one has ever questioned it.

But saying something like that just seems, off.

As hard as I try hugging all the men I can get my hands on, it has not made me gay, I will keep trying though.

A hug? My friends and I hug pretty often. (Not like every time we see each other often, but you get it.)

Not Gay.

Where is the poll when you need it?

As long as there's no groping or surprise butt-secks its all fine. But in all seriousness, I hug male friends if I haven't seen them for a while.

Of course it's not gay.
Two girls hugging isn't seen as them being gay, so why are two guys hugging seen as gay?
It's because Girl on Girl [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/GirlOnGirlIsHot] is hot to most guys. And apparently I suck at labeling URLs.

My friends are important to me and a hug with a close friend is great, especially as we have all moved away so don't get to see each other very often. Hell, when I was at uni I'd known my flatmates for 3 months but when we were back together in January there were a lot of reunion hugs.

now, one day a few years ago a friend mentioned it was their birthday coming up and said to me 'what you going to give me for my birthday' to which I replied 'I'll give you a hug'. his response was 'no thanks, I'm not gay' which I thought was stupid. I just this minute told that story to my mum and she pretty much agreed with my mates response.

what do you think? is one friend hugging another gay? or is it just friendly? Joey and Chandler do it all the time!
Whoa full on frontal hugs is risky business, you should Christian side hug instead just to be safe.

It's not gay if the balls don't touch, just a general rule of the universe. Having anal sex with a man is no way gay as long as the balls don't touch, and I doubt that you and your friends rub your balls together when you hug so there's noting gay about it.

People who thinks "guys hugging each other are gay", are either insecure about their own sexuality or homophobes.

Really then colour me gay because I've hugged guys for all sorts of reasons, hell I've even given a gay guy a bro hug

Pretty much this for anyone who thinks it's wrong.

Well people get off on all sorts of things so why not that, I imagine many things when girls hug so... I can't really blame anyone if hugging guys makes them think naughty stuff.

No. Hugging is awesome. I have hugged quite a few of my bros in the past, and I can safely say that I have no intention of ever having sex with them.

depends. is it a man hug? frankly, there's a thin line between simple bro-to-bro contact and gay.

but that's just because people are silly.

I fail to see why it matters in this day and age... but no, a man hugging another man is not a homosexual act... even if one or both of those men is actually homosexual.

In many cultures, completely straight men will kiss one another in greeting.

But then, in a culture where hugging is seen as "gay", and that is seen as foreign perversion... knowing any of these things is seen as "gay" too. Sad, really.
