I tought myself when I started playing wow, so my left hand rests on WSAD while my left floats aimlessly above the right half of the keyboard, usually with my middle finger around the intersection of K, L, and O.

I type over 80 words per minute though, so I don't care to change.

EDIT: Oh, and I don't look at the keyboard either.

I just look at the keyboard and use my index fingers. I type extremely quickly and still only use those two fingers. My mum thinks it's odd, but she works in an office so she was taught to use all her fingers to type anyway. And I can still type faster than her, just about... :)

Instinct mostly. Typing speed was probably improved by online.

I use the school taught method for the most part, I don't have to look at the keyboard at all. Infact most of the letters are worn off of this one. I'm pretty fast and very accurate with my typing, the only odd thing is that I use the num pad for anything string of numbers more than 3 digits long and I only us the left shift key.

Learned myself playing online. I can type without looking at about 60wpm. Weird thing is my hands move thing is my hands move to words I'm going to type next. So one moment I'll use my left hand to push t one word then my right the next, hard to explain.

I don't really know how I initially did it, but after years of using the computer frequently I've just gotten used to the standard keyboard layout and never need to look at the keys while I'm typing.

I type completely blind with my right hand doing much more work than my left hand. My left hand seems to cover the left third of the keys while my right hand covers the other two thirds.

If I make typos, I leave them in until I can be arsed to go back and correct them

Irregular style, I was never taught typing at school and taught myself to touch type by playing quiz games on mIRC where speed really counted. So my hands just land on the most comfortable place.

And I can only touch type until I start to think "holy shit, I'm touch typing", then I seem to switch from English to Gibberish.

On a good day I can hit 65-70 words a minute which I reckon is OK for someone with no formal training.

I think I do a few keystrokes differently than I was taught (I hit the "B" key with my left hand and always use the right shift key) but I took two keyboarding classes throughout my primary years so I'm pretty committed to the "standard method", whatever that is. I don't need to look at the keyboard. I can type really really fast bro.

Both hands, usually looking away unless my fingers get tangled up or it's a large/strange word I don't type as often. my right hand tends to dominate the keyboard XD

I only allow myself to touch-type when I'm using vim; if I try to touch-type in any other application I end up trying to use the shortcuts (^H, ^J, etc.) which generally results in weird things happening. Thus in other applications I just use a weird hybrid style.

I switch techniques fairly often. I never bothered to learn home row, as typing fast really isn't an issue for me. So I usually use both hands, albeit with varying numbers of fingers. Oddly, I tend to use more fingers on my left hand, even though I'm right handed.

F and J are a bit too close together for my liking, I tend to use my index fingers for the letters and only use middle, ring and little if the letters happen to be in a pattern that I can easily roll my fingers across. I use my ring or little finger to ctrl, shift, backspace or enter. People say that using index fingers only for typing is amateur and slow but I've gotten really fast at it and can type incredibly fast with it, I have very fast wrists so will probably succumb to arthritis by the age of 30.

Mine is definitely irregular. I hated typing on the home keys and pretty much got my typing habits from when I played UO and DAoC, if we jump in the Way-back machine before Team Speak and Ventrilo were widely used.

Well... When I have a proper keyboard in front of me, I think up a word I want, and itson the screen. I'm vaguely aware of a clicking noise, and maybe of my eyes flitting every so often. OK... Maybe that's overly dramatic. All I know is that typing is very fluid and natural. Maybe it's because I never learned to type. I've been perfecting my motions for 12 years (yeah, I'm young). It's definitely not homerow. I have a lot more wrist movement, and sometimes it may seem a bit contortionistic, but when I think about it, I realise that what I'm subconciously doing is spelling the word, finding the keys in my head, then placing my fingers in a way that allows me to type the word non-stop. If I'm really in the swing of things, I can do this indefinitely, leading to super-quick typing. But as soonaz I notice and start thinking about it, I'm dead.

It has to be said, IRC seriously increased my typing speed and accuracy, just because of the quick-fire nature of it. And I always like to be correct, both grammatically and in my spelling. But if I fall out of practice, as I have lately, due to my regular keyboard being taken off me until the end of June. On a related note, I've gotten pretty good at typing with my thumbs...

I can type the "proper" way, but I usually just use my index fingers like Dexter, though not quite as dramatically, since it feels easier for me. I'll use all ten fingers on home row if I'm writing a paper or something because it tends to make my writing more formal.

I chicken type. I use just my index fingers to hit the keys, sometimes my right middle finger, and sometimes my pinkie to hit the enter key. I usually type glancing down at the keyboard and back up at the text I'm typing. I can type really fast though.
