I would have fired her so hard if I was her boss. She basically said that anyone who plays video games has some type of complex. Why can't people just accept that it's ENTERTAINMENT.

Ladies: If your BF plays too much, theres two reason.

1. He's boring and stupid (Nothing to do with video games, he just is).

2. You're boring and stupid.

Or seriously, they have a problem. I don't have a problem with people who play games for entertainment, but there is a fine line that is sometimes crossed into an unhealthy obsession. My ex had an unhealthy obsession, it's part of the reason our relationship hit the skids.

If you're playing games because you have a couple of hours in which to escape reality that's fine, I'll play Black Ops with friends for a couple of hours. But when games become your reality, there is a problem.

Video games are so mainstream now that I find it weird that it's still a topic in this way. When even Tyra Banks has a video game based on her shows, you know that video games are a universal, multiple-demographic medium, and not just a thing for teenage boys or nerdy older guys.

I'm pretty sure if us men saw that our other half spent all there time playing video games we'd try to help them out of it but if it didn't work after a certain point we'd leave them. It's just because we're logical like that, if she's more interested in video games after you trying to do something about it, then she's not fucking worth it.

I dunno when this was aired, but really why are they bringing up 1997 games. What are his girlfriends other options, watch tv, sit on your ass and just watch a screen. Second what the holy hell was with that over analyzed bullshit. I play all those games and utterly disagree with damn near everything she said.

Besides what is he supposed to do he's got the only penis in the entire room barring the production staff.Who is sitting at home fantasizing that running Madden seasons, are bringing home millions. I mean when the woman wants to have sex the bro probably spikes his controller and goes to it, but I think her problem is she has nothing to offer him as far as entertainment other than sex and she is mad at him for it.

Maybe don't date out of your favorite interest's group. I mean if your girlfriend is so boring that all you want to do outside of sex is ignore her and play video games, maybe date someone who you have more in common with, unless you just don't care anyway.

Also, I like the double standard that men always need to be broken down. How about the women shuts the hell up and stops bitching about what makes the man happy even through it doesnt HER happy. Look I know games sometimes get a bad rap in the media. But holy crap gamers hypersensitive much? Seriously getting all nerdragey the moment a bit of justifiable negative light is shed on our hobby is only enforcing the stereotype.

If your girlfriend forces you to choose between your favorite hobby or her, she isn't the right girl.

Right how dare she ask for you to spend some time with her. How dare she ask for a little attention to tend to her needs? Or did you completely miss the part where everyone agreed that it is fine he plays games. But maybe he should step away from the controller once in a while? That maybe it isn't all that healthy to neglect real life because I R GAMER derp.

Reading some of these responses makes me glad I am not a gamer. I am just a person who plays games quite regularly. Keeps himself updated on the gaming news. And has a general love of video games that he has carried with him since the days of Coleco. Being called a gamer I now take as a personal insult. And the media has nothing to do with that.

Now do not get me wrong I don't think everyone who loves games are "GAMERS" just like I don't think all Liberals are like the Tea Party or all Christians are like the Desboro church. I am just sick and tired of "GAMERS" giving gamers, games and the industry a bad rap by constantly reinforcing the stereotype they are nerdraging against. And I believe the only way we are ever going to start making any headway is to disassociate ourselves from "GAMERS" and their tactics.

Well that could have been much more disastrous. I expected a lot worse, actually. It's obvious that Tyra herself is entirely ignorant on the subject (criticizing him for playing video games because he's not 13? Seriously?), and Webb's categories were more than a little flawed (overlapping with each other and entirely ignoring the competitive nature of some games), but at least it didn't end up taking as negative a stance as it could have. Seriously though Tyra, get a life.

I also feel overwhelming relief at the fact that my girlfriend loves video games.

That's pretty much the only real contentious part of the clip. Other than that it was "maybe spend more time with your girlfriend", at no point was she "bashing video games" like the OP suggests.

From someone who has a GIF of Tyra as their Avatar, I find it hard to take your post seriously.. As it's likely biased.

As a person who doesn't really give two shits about Tyra and the things she does, I can say that she bashes games, degrading them, calling them only a suitable thing for children.

Not to mention that guy's girlfriend looked and sounded like a dumb *****, but that's just me.

One of my favorite arguments against games is "all that time wasted could be better spent elsewhere!"

Like where? On a job? I have a job. On friends? My friends play games with me. On hobbies? Gaming is a hobby. On charity? I give to charity, I still have plenty left for games. On a girl?

Seems to me the only problem here is someone who thinks that they are in a place to criticize someone's life.
