honestly I think the game will kick extreme ass. That said I don't think it's so much that they aren't confident with their product, but more that they're concerned that Assassin's Creed 2 will be completely overshadowed by modern warfare 2.

Also, bribery for reviews happens all the fucking time. GTA4 got 10/10 across the board from almost every reviewer that crossed its path. Seriously? 10/10? ask almost ANYONE and they'll tell you san andreas was a much better game. Halo 3? perfect scores? From EVERYBODY? I mean, I personally like halo, but you're telling me there's NO reviewer who holds the popular viewpoint that halo is mediocre and generic? Any main franchise nintendo game always gets pretty reliable perfect scores across the board. I have serious trouble believing mario sunshine was as well received as it supposedly was.

I guess what I'm trying to say is don't trust reviews.

i don't think it matters. people will be able to see if it's a good game when they play it, and it'll be obvious which reviews are false if you compare them with others. still looking forward to the game though.

If they're so unsure about the game that they have to bribe people the game is probably going to suck ass.

Kane and Lnych anyone?

If they spend more money and effort on the hype and bullshit than the games would it be more accurate to call them the bullshit industry instead of the games industry? An interesting question to ponder on while smoking your pipe after luncheon.

So, Activision bought the gametrailers reviewer a nice fancy hotel room to play Modern Warfare 2 in and make his reviewing decisions.

And the thing is, he gave it a 9.6, and in his Uncharted 2 review he said that a game must be really original to get over a 9.5. Bribery? Maybe, all I know is that I'd rather have Uncharted.

I'm still getting AC2. I loved the first even with the repetitive gameplay and AC2 looks to have improved upon that.

I'm still getting it, I liked the first one despite the fact that you can move during cutscenes, a hated feature for me. It was fun and this looks like more of the same.

So apparently Ubisoft is trying to bribe companies for good/top reviews for Assassins Creed 2 in exchange for an early copy to play. I gotta say this doesn't bode well for the game that they have to revert to trying to bribe companies for good reviews. Seems to say they aren't fully confident in the game they are putting out.

It might have been a better idea to put those resources in the game itself in order to create a good game that gets good reviews by itself. I know that the gaming industry is an industry like any other but I don't like to feel like a money farting donkey.

Is "scandal" really "skandal" in German?
I'm disinclined to believe the rumor until I see it somewhere else.
Yes, it is true, that's the German translation. Why would you not believe that...?

I thought this was pretty standard business practice with review sites these days.
Gonna go with this. Pretty sure Penny Arcade have done a comic or two on this exact issue in fact.

Then there was the Kane and Lynch scandal. Hell, I'm surprised every dev/publisher doesn't do it.

Those resources being...a single copy of the game per reviewer? Really breaking the bank there.

Still getting it. Still gonna love it. They really took peoples issues with the first game to heart.

Wait, are you sure their not just giving the game to them early so reviews can be done on the release day, or a couple days before to build up excitment?

Another question lingers, if the game is bad why would people want an early copy..?

As opposed to the fair and unbiased and not at all solicited review of Far Cry 2 they got from UK PC Gamer which among other things used pre-release images as screenshots and had the reviewer get both of the faction names wrong?

Hahahah haha hahhhaaaha hahaaa etc.
This was a rather large fail on Ubisofts part, are they idiots? This game looks rather good already, I dont see why they would want to bribe the magazine

So Playstation Magazine has given AC2 a 100/100. Quote "The sequel has arguably changed for the better in just about every conceivable way...Assassin's Creed II truly offers an experience like no other, one that mixes history and brutality to sheer perfection. And it's absolutely massive."

Someone got an early copy I see......
