Everything has already been said, so i'll be more laconical.

It's a good thing Ubisoft does not make any games i care about.

Yes, I can see it now.

*Playing a Ubisoft game*
*Notoriously unreliable internet crashes*

It would seem its not that you will be unable to play offline, you just cant save or load your game while offline. I guess with most games nowadays only being 5 hours long you COULD just beat it in one go.

"Most people are always connected to an Internet connection."
Digital divide? WHAT DIGITAL DIVIDE??

Well, OK - anyone intending to play AC2 will have access to a considerable amount of tech, but I know from experience that consistent internet can be a huge problem for people living beyond the city limits.

So, if I want to play my games when i don't have an internet connection, I'll have to pirate them.

Why do companies punish their customers?

Why don't they just do the decent version, and make sure the pirated copy is faulty in some way (or several ways preferably) like the did with Arkham Asylum.
For the umpteenth bazzilionth time, that was am unintentional bug they tried to pass off as DRM once discovered by pre-release pirates under the assumption that all legal purchasers would get the day 1 patch over gfwl and that none of the pirates would. Turns out exactly the opposite happened, legal gamers without internet/the wrong firewall/outside the region locked areas got screwed and all the pirates happily downloaded the cracked version of the patch.

As for this "plan", since my main gaming rig is not connected to the internet and my laptop only rarely and never while gaming, this means that all of ubisofts future titles are completely unplayable for me.

Saved games on remote servers.

Yeah. No.

Even disregarding that servers can be unreliable or even go down (in which case you're SOL I imagine), how am I gonna play games on the train like that? The ability to play games with my laptop is what makes public transportation bearable, and I don't have any mobile internet...

This doesn't effect me at all, I have two games from them on the pc and they have gone unplayed for years now.

It will be easy enough to just skip over any Ubi title from now on, not like I will miss out on anything anyway.

Just gimp the game if its a pirate copy like Batman.

this way when their servers die we can still play our legitimately bought game.

Really? Fair enough then, although it still seems like a good idea I must admit.

You know what they really need?
Some type of 'bio scan' to authenticate.

Guy: *Clicks on game*
Computer: Who are you?
Guy: Uhh...Jake?
Computer: Scanning...Error! You are not Jake! Scan failed. Hard-drive erased.

Sounds like a sensible solution to me!
Let's get some bio scans up in here!
What is the first thing I am goig to do if I fall out with a PC gamer? All I have to do is say a random name next to his PC and then he looses everything. Wipe FTW.

And I should mention that games are not a required thing to live,
No, but they're the only good entertainment you can get in this shit country.

psrdirector said:
You get Zero Pity from me bub.
I did not ask for your pity, I was simply showing how when most companies claim "OUR GAME GOT PIRATED!" they fail to mention which country had the most downloads.

if you cant afford a game, don't play it
You're right, why protest against unfair prices. Just let the "industry" here go to shit even more. I mean, who cares apart from at least 15 million people.

Why should I or anyone else here not be able to enjoy something almost every modern country can because certain people can't be bothered to organize an actual gaming industry here?

Is it really that hard to grasp that no amount of protection will ever actually help ?
I sadly agree, its the theory that the more something is taboo, the more people want to do it

Well, let's sure hope so, otherwise there are many many other companies that deserve my money alot more then Ubisoft does.

The only thing I don't like is the save games on remote servers. To be honest, they should allow you to copy your savegame from the online system to your computer, or it should do a combination of both. (Steam does save some of your local settings like CFG files and such onto their servers for example).

And man some of you are *really* getting all antsy about this.

when the console games start this bullshit i'll stop playing , i can hardly afford the net now , having to sign in means someone is watching and that info can be used in a negative way ... and with reliability of the net and servers this is a bad way to stop piracy
